Sean paused as he walked through the living space, then changed direction and approached the vivarium. Outside, he heard Dane drive off.
“Hi, Chip,” he said, texting Hazel. “Sorry I’m not sticking around. You need something?”
I need to stretch my spine. Take. Me. Out.
Sean blinked.
I’ll hang around your neck, you can put your coat on over me. Wherever you’re going is preferable to here.
“I didn’t realize you hated Dane’s family that much,” said Sean. He took off his coat, tossed it on the back of the couch, and had a glass of water.
They aren’t a good example of bipeds, no. But don’t discount yourself so fast. You’ve left me to die of boredom in here.
“I’m going to the Cauldwells’.” Sean lifted the lid off the vivarium. “They like you.”
