Chapter Five

I was filled with so much joy as we drove to Alpha Ricco’s place. “The universe must definitely be on my said” I whispered to myself
“Did you say something?” Hermione asked
“No”
We got to the place and we were asked to shower and change into a different attire. We started cleaning the house, it was as if, the more we clean the more we see dusty places. The ball room is so large, literally bigger than Lady Charlotte’s house. And to make matters worse, it was just Hermione, I and two other girls that were to clean the whole house.
“Anna this is all your fault” Hermione said
“Girl quit looking for who to apportion blame to, I had absolutely nothing to do with bringing us here” I said in my own defense.
“You think?”
“I know”
Hermione kept on whining like a baby but I chose not to pay attention to her and continued doing my work.
By the time we were done with the ball room my waist was already stiff and the four of us could barely walk. We went to meet Lady Penelope to inform her that we were done with the banquet hall.
“You can go on a Fifteen minutes break” she said in harsh tone.
“Just fif……” I was about saying before Hermione cut me off by pinching me really hard.
“Is the time too much?”
“Not at all my Lady, the time is perfect” Hermione said
“I thought as much. You can now leave”
“Thank you my lady” Hermione and the two other ladies that cleaned the ball room with us said uniformly before we started walking away.
“Anna” she called and I looked.
“Yes my Lady”
“You stay back”
“Here we go again” I whispered to myself.
“Go join the people decorating the ball room”
“But my Lady, how come I don’t get to go on a break while the other ladies do?”
“They aren’t as arrogant as you are”
“Then I’m really sorry my Lady but I’ll have to live up to my arrogant title”
“What do you mean by that?”
“I am going on a break”
“If you dare do that, I’ll make sure neither food or water gets to you for the rest of the day”
“Is that all you can do?” I asked and she tried to slap but I caught her hand. “Don’t you dare touch me” I snapped at her before letting go off her hands. I quickly walked away in other not to draw more attention to what was going on.
“I will personally deal with you before you leave this place” Lady Penelope screamed
“Be my guest my Lady” I said and continued walking.
After resting for about fifteen minutes, I check the time and its already past midnight so I decided to go back to the hall room to help out with the decoration.
“What exactly is Alpha Rocco celebrating?” I asked after working for a few minutes.
“Are you even in this village?” one of the girls asked.
“I guess I’m not, so tell me”
“It’s Lord Xavier’s eighteenth birthday” she replied.
“And if the Moon Goddess permits, he’ll find his mate today” another lady said.
“I just can’t wait for tomorrow to arrive” another lady said
“Why can’t you wait?” I asked giving the girls the not impressed look.
“What if I become his mate?” she replied rolling her hair like a shy ten-year-old girl.
“You think the Mon Goddess is dumb enough to make an ordinary maid a Luna to this pack?”
“Someone with sense is finally talking” I heard a guy say.
“What do you mean by that? So, because I’m a maid, I don’t deserve anything good in life” the girl said.
“Girl, I never said that, you know what, I wish you all the best”
“Now you are talking” she said smiling sheepishly.
“Enough with the talk, let’s get back to work” someone said and we continued our work.
We were still half way through with the decoration when other workers started coming in to put things in order and by the time, we were all done, it was already past noon and at this I could no longer feel any part of my body, like my whole body suddenly went num for a few minutes.
I managed to leave the ball room but was half way to where we were staying when my legs literally failed me so I had to seat for a few minutes.
“Weren’t you informed that you aren’t allowed to be here?” a heard a very manly voice say before I looked back and saw Alpha Ricco.
“I’m sorry my Lord, I was actually on my way out but I needed to rest my legs for a few minutes.”
“Okay, but I want you gone before I come back here”
“Yes my Lord” I said and watched start walking towards the other direction. “Alpha Ricco” I called and he stopped and looked back. I quickly got up and ran as fast as my legs could carry me to where he was standing.
“Any problem?” he asked.
“I know that you might not recognize me sir but you used to be friends with my late father”
“I’m friends with every of my pack members”
“He didn’t belong to this pack”
“If he didn’t, then which pack is he from?”
“Black Phoenix”
“Black Phoenix?”
“Yes my Lord”
“And what is your father’s name?”
“Alexander Alaric” I said trying so hard not to burst out in tears.
“How is it possible that you are still alive? I heard that every member of the pack was killed the same day”
“Yes, but I was lucky enough to make it out alive”
“You look nothing like Alexander’s daughter” he said looking at me like he didn’t believe what I said.
“Yes, I don’t, but it’s a long story and I don’t you’d be interested in listening to that”
“Are you his illegitimate daughter?”
“No sir, I’m his oldest child”
“I’ve met her a few times and one hundred percent certain that you look nothing like her”
“I know sir, this isn’t my body”
“Young lady, if you can’t prove that Alexander is your father, then I have nothing else to discuss with you.” He said and tried walking out but I ran in front of him and stopped him.
“Sir please hear me out.”
“You have five minutes, now start talking”
“Thank you so much sir” I said in relief.
“Your time is going” he said reminding me that I had a limited time to say all I needed to say.
“A little witch did some magic on I and a few of my pack members when she saw us laying lifeless after the attack.”
“And?”
“I was the only one that woke up but I there was a problem, I woke up in someone else’s body instead of mine and according to her, it was either she made a mistake with the spell she used or that my body was too weak so my soul swapped body with someone whom her spirit was already far gone.”
“Never in my life have I heard of something this ridiculous, how dumb do you think I am?”
“Sir, you have to believe me, of what use will lying to you be to me?”
“If you’re are truly Alexander’s daughter, then you should be able to answer these questions.” He said and began to ask me questions such as what kind of gift does he give me whenever he paid a visit to our village and so many other and luckily was able to answer them to perfectly. “Wow, you are truly Alex’s daughter” he finally said.
“Yes sir” I said, letting out a sigh of relief.
“Did you happen to see the faces of the people that did that?” He asked.
“No sir, I wasn’t actually there when it happened, when I got there everyone was already dead”
“That’s so sad”
“Yes sir”
“So where have you been all these while?”
“Here sir, I came here because I knew that you were one of my father’s closest friend and I’ve been trying to have this conversation with you for the past two years but I’ve never been this opportune before”
“So tell me, why exactly were you looking for me”
“I want to find out the real culprit behind the death of my family”
“How do you intend to do that?” he asked and started laughing. “Are you even up to eighteen?”
“I’m not sir, I’m sixteen”
“What on earth do you think you can do? I can see that you want to get yourself killed”
“Sir I know that I’m weak, that’s why I have come to you sir”
“SO what exactly do you want me to do? Help you seek revenge? Young lady I’m too busy for that”
“All I want is for you to help me become strong”
“And then what?”
“I believe that I can do the rest on my own”
“Young lady, you are too young for this journey that you are about to embark on, why don’t you get married and settle down, I bet that my friend Alexander wouldn’t want the only survivor of his clan to get herself killed”
“I know that sir, but I can’t possibly not do anything, It wasn’t just my pack members that were killed, my entire family was also killed and it’s all my fault”
“Young do not put the blame on yourself, you had nothing to do with that”
“If my parents didn’t host that birthday party for me, then they would have all still been alive by now” I said and started crying, hoping that my tears will make him have a change of heart.
“Stop crying and quit blaming yourself, you are too young to be living with such guilt.”
“That’s all I can possibly do”
“Where do you stay?”
“I’m a maid at Lord William’s place” I answered wiping away my tears.
“Do they know about your true identity?”
“No sir”
“That’s good, we’ll have to keep It that way”
“Okay sir”
“I’m currently busy right now, meet me this same time tomorrow and I’ll let you know what my decision is”
“Thank you very much sir, I really appreciate”
“But don’t get your hopes so high”
“I won’t sir” I said and watched him leave. “That was really easier than I expected” I said as I sat down to rest. After resting for a few minutes, I go back to my room to rest for a little while.
