Chapter One

Ariana’s POV

“Ana go get your younger siblings, it’s time to start your birthday party” I heard mum scream.

I was supper excited because it was my fourteenth birthday which also means that in about two years’ time, I’ll finally transform into a wolf and if I am lucky enough, I’ll transform this year or in a year's time.

My parents Alpha Alexander and Luna Athena decided to throw a huge party because they believe I’m finally hitting puberty and they invited the whole members of the Black Phoenix pack and other of their friends, I also heard that some of my father’s human friends were invited.

“You are sure so excited” My best friend Irene said. Irene is two years older than me and she is the daughter of the second in command of the Phoenix Pack. She already had her first transformation and also found her mate when she turned fifteen.

“Who wouldn’t be? What if I meet my mate today?” I asked sounding so excited.

“Girl you are just fourteen,”

“Like I don’t know that.”

“I doubt you do.”

“You found your mate on yours when you were just fifteen.”

“Yes, not fourteen.”

“But I heard that people do.”

“Yes, but it is rare.”

“But I’m the daughter of the Alpha which also makes me an Alpha and I heard that Alpha’s off springs transform and mate earlier than others”

“If you say so girl, because I know that if we start debating on this topic, they will be no end to it”

“Because you know I’m right”

“Whatever. Ana, I thought I heard your mother call your name a few minutes ago”

“Damn!! I totally forgot” I said giggling.

“What did she ask you to do?”

“She asked me to call my sisters so that we can start the party”

“Girl you’ll never seize to amaze me”

“I know and that’s why you are so obsessed with me”

“In your dreams.”

The party started and honestly, I was having the happiest time of my life, people turned up more than I expected.

“Who would have imagined that all these calibers will gather here just to celebrate a fourteen years old girl” I whispered to myself while sipping my fruit juice and feeling like the baddie I am.

I went inside the hose to look for Irene because I couldn’t see her out here, few minutes into searching round the house, I start to hear people screaming and it definitely didn’t sound like they were screaming out of joy, it sounded like there were in agony, it sounded like a scream for help, I quickly rushed back outside to see what was going on, to find out what was making my guest scream like that.

“Hide!!!” I heard my mum say as she laid on the floor as blood was heavily gushing out of her.

“What’s going on mum? Who did this to you? Who Is doing this to our pack?” I kept asking, I was so terrified just by merely looking as the masked guys killing my people like were so sort of animal meant for eating.

“Ana, you have to save yourself” mum said, this time blood was already coming out of her mouth.

“Mum, I can’t leave you like this”

“If they find out that you are still alive, they’ll also kill you”

“But I can’t leave you here” I said crying heavily.

“Ana, you have to leave now, we are running out of time”

“But mum….”

“Ana run as fast as you can, you have to leave here alive, no matter what”

“Mum, I can’t leave you here”

“Ana please, you are the last hope of this pack”

“Where do I go from here, I’m just fourteen”

“Go anywhere my baby, anywhere your legs take you to, but leave here” she said before taking here last breath.

“Mum!!!” I screamed tapping and pushing her, hoping that she will wake up.

“Who is that?” I heard one of the masked men ask.

“Someone is alive here” I heard another voice say.

“Find the person and kill the person immediately”

“Yes sir”

“How do escape from here?” I asked myself before I started crying on the floor to avoid being seen. I finally made it to the entrance of the house and then turned my back to get a last glance at all the people laying lifeless on the floor. The first thing I saw when I looked back was a man holding my father’s head which bitterly broke my heart, “What offense could my father have committed for them to kill his entire family” I said and turned to leave the place.

“Hello, pretty girl” the masked guy in front of me said before striking me with his really sharp sword and pulling it out. I fell to the floor and laid down there with my blood gushing out, all I could hear was the masked guys chanting a victory song that I always heard our pack warriors sing when they go to war and come back successful. Slowly the songs start to die out. “Could this be me actually dying?” I asked as I tried to move my hands but I couldn’t because they were already numb, my pool of blood that I was laying in had

already started to get dark. I laid down there feeling defeated before I finally closed my eyes.

I suddenly opened my eyes and saw a very light skinned girl with blond hair and she looked like we were the same age or a little different. She sat beside me crying bitterly, at first, I assumed she is my pack member but looking at her again, she looked nothing like my people.  

“Who are you?” I finally asked in a faint voice.

“It worked!! It worked!!” she screamed and started rejoicing.

“What worked?” I asked looking so confused but got no response from the extremely happy little girl. I finally decided to get up but felt a really sharp pain in my abdomen.

“Just stay still, you still need time to heal” she gently said and tried to help me lay back on the floor but I pushed her away.

“Who are you?” I asked again, this time terrified, all that came to my head was what if she is part of the masked killers that came earlier and she was probably sent to come to finish up what they started but on second thought she is too young to possibly be a killer.

“You don’t have to be scared of me” she said so calmly. “I’m only here to help you”

“You’ve still not answered my question, who are you”

“My name is Zira and I was just passing by and saw so many lifeless bodies lying around so I just tried to see if I could bring any of you back to life and only you woke up” she said stammering and not so confident.

“What do you mean by bringing any of the lifeless bodies back to life?”

“After seeing you and all these other people laying down here lifeless and I felt this really negative energy telling me that this wasn’t a war but an ambush and I couldn’t see any of the dead people with any sort of weapon, so I ran back home and stole little of my mother’s sacred water and because I had to take just a little quantity so that she wouldn’t notice that I touched her water, so I had to only give the water to those that I could sense their spirit lingering around and luckily you came back to life. If it’s not too hard for you to answer, what really happened here?”

“What are you?”

“A human”

“That can’t be, no human has the power to bring the dead back to life” I said.

“My mum is a witch but my dad is human so I prefer to identify

myself as a human being and I’m not as strong as the full witches that is probably why everyone I fed the water to didn’t wake up”

“What is a sacred water”

“It’s a kind of water that is capable of curing all forms of disease and even raising the dead when the right spell is used although I’ve never seen my mum raise the dead and she forbade my siblings and me from doing that”

“Why does your mother have such water?”

“She is a healer and we came here because we were invited to come to heal the Luna of the Dark Moon Pack”

“Oh”

“I think we should leave here now; we don’t want the bad guys to come back here and meet us” she said and helped me to get up to my feet

“Thank you” I said and finally got to take look at my feet before looking at my hands and noticing that there was a change in my body. “How

is this possible?” I asked still staring at my hands.

“I know that you are still surprised that you are still alive but we don’t have time to keep being here”

“It’s not that”

“Then what?”

“Is it possible for someone to wake up in someone else’s body?” I asked.

“What do you mean by waking up in someone else’s body?”

“Take me to that door” I said pointing at the entrance of our house which is like a mirror.

“Why?”

“I need to take a proper look at this body, it doesn’t feel like mine” I said and Zira led me to the door. “This can’t be happening” I said looking at myself in the body of our domestic staff.

“What is it?” Zira asked looking really confused.
