Serena made her way out of the motel and into her beat-up pickup truck she’d managed to buy when she’d arrived in the country. The only reason she’d been able to afford to buy the mode of transportation and pay for a place to stay was that the country was a developing nation and the currency exchange rate was One US Dollar to Two Hundred Guyana Dollars. That meant she was able to stretch her savings way further than she would have been able had she stayed in the United States of America.
Arriving at the packhouse, she sat in her truck for a moment and just stared out her windshield at the massive lodge in front of her. She could only hope that Aiden was different; that this might be the place where things would turn around for her and her wolf. That maybe she’d finally find a home where she belonged. Although, she’d come to realize the likelihood of finding anywhere a turned wolf as herself belonged was slim.
Serena released a deep breath and unbuckled her seat belt.
I guess we might as well get this over with.
That’s the spirit!
Looking at her reflection in the window of her pickup truck, she shot Sasha a withering glare.
Try to keep your smartass comments to yourself in there, okay? I don’t need to get distracted and screw this up because of your sarcastic ass.
Sasha grinned as much as a wolf could. If anything, we’ll get accepted for my sparkling personality. So you should hand over the control to me and let me conduct the interview.
Serena rolled her eyes as she looked again at the massive house in front of her. It was typical for alphas to have giant homes, so this was nothing new. Wolves moved in packs because that’s the way nature intended it and often times the single wolves of a pack would all choose to live together in one big house rather than live in their own individual homes.
Personally, Serena would prefer if she was offered her own private lodgings. But she would make do if she had to live in packhouse as long as they were welcomed into the fold.
As Serena approached the wrap-around patio and large front door, Sasha went silent. Although she was full of sass, she was fully aware of what was at stake for both herself and her human counterpart. So for the time being she’d remain silent and alert.
On the edge of Serena’s peripheral, she spotted the reflective eyes of multiple wolves in between the trees, but she ignored them. They were just doing their job by protecting the pack lands. She’d been there and done that. Hopefully, she would be accepted here and would be joining them soon.
