BROKEN EPISODE THIRTEEN

When I left with Ethan I had plans of going back to Ndegwa's house as I didn't have anywhere else to go though that was crazy because Leo told me melvin had called the police on me like what was he even thinking. Did he even know where I was going and how?

Melvin asked me about ndegwa's house and he wondered if Ndegwa and I had a thing. I didn't even tell him about the photos I found in the boxes of my mum and Ndegwa and as a result, alot of things were bothering me. Had Ndegwa and my mum been a couple at some point and what did Melvin know about it?

Ethan had been asleep the entire ride back home and just as I got out of the cab I saw Melvin's car parked across the road and I knew Leo had been back and I was going to get into a fight with him. Leo had been calling the entire time I was at Magdalene's place and I kept ignoring him because he was going to stand in my way.

I crossed to the other side and before I could make my way to the house, Leo got out of the car and came at me so I stopped and watched him walk over. His forehead was slightly swollen from me knocking him out earlier..

Leo: you can't go to the house.

Me: why?

Leo: I think it's not safe.

Me: I need you to stop being on my case like a fly that has seen sh*t. I can take care of myself and I don't need you telling me what to do.

Leo: wow!

I started walking away but he stopped me before I could get to he door..

Leo: so you think I would set you up too. Is that how you see me?

I walked to the house and left him standing there then he followed me to drop Melvin's car keys. When I got into the house, Melvin was still where I had left him and he got up with his stiff neck and walked towards me and Ethan and I stopped abruptly.

I couldn't let him touch Ethan since I didn't know what his intentions were but he started begging and pleading to allow him hold him even for a few minutes. I felt bad for him and remember despite everything, I still loved him. He was my husband and a stupid version of me that was still in love with him told me that he deserved to be listened to and maybe.. just maybe he wasn't the one to blame for everything that happened.

Leo dropped the keys on the table and gave me one last look before he walked out pretty upset. I could tell he was but after I listened to the audio, I didn't know who to trust.

In that audio, Magdalene and Lorna were planning to use him to eliminate me and since they didn't state how they were going to do that, I couldn't trust anyone. The reason why I left Jade alive was because she was in their plans too. Lorna didn't love Jade and if she was putting up with her it was because she wanted something from her. As for Jade, I wanted to kill so that she could keep off my son but killing her just like that wouldn't be enough torture. I wanted her to suffer for everything she had done to me and was it so bad that I wanted to pay her in her own coin or make it even worse?..

I thought that her getting locked up for Magdalene's death would keep her away from my husband and son. Yeah you heard me right...my husband.

Jade wanted to take everything away from me but I was not going to let her, I was going to move back into my house with my husband not to make up with Melvin but to make her feel the impact of loosing what she valued most..

Melvin: please let's talk...

He said taking my hand and walking me to the couch.

I sat and let the baby lie on the other seat.

He cleared his throat and looked directly at me.

Melvin: I don't love Jade....Not anymore.

I didn't say anything to that.

Melvin: it's you am in love with. It's always going to be you. I had arrangements with Jade yes and we had plans but like I said, I fell in love with you after we started living together. You did stuff to me that Jade couldn't do. I saw motherly love, patience, kindness and everything Jade didn't have in you.

Me: you sent the police after me...why?

Melvin: to protect you and to stop you from making a mistake love...our son still needs you. I need you..

I couldn't believe hi even though a part of me wanted to.

I tried to get up but he got down on his knees and held on to my leg.

Melvin: please don't leave me Benta, I can't do it without you.

Me: do what, you have been doing it with Jade I mean right under my nose and let me ask you something.. were you ever gong to tell me you two have a relationship if you never got involved in that accident?.

Melvin: yes. I would eventually tell you.

Me: that's a lie and you know it. Listen, everything I have as a woman....Jade has so you find your satisfaction in her. You and I are done..

I pushed him off me, took my son and went to the room I had been using...

Leo left and called a friend of his asking him to meet up for a drink of two. His name was Larry. Larry was that guy who was almost everything, an investigator, a gangster, a football player and drug dealer depending on what ground he was on. Larry owned a men's boutique where he sold, shirts, shoes, and other men wear and that's the same place he did his shady business.

Leo passed by his shop and found him winding up for the day so he didn't have to wait long.

Larry: who is buying drinks?

Leo: you are the rich one with a shop this big.

Larry: and you are the one who has been jumping from one country to the other...

Leo: okay, I will buy the drinks you buy the food..

Larry: okay... Dude, you are stingy..

Leo: I know... But I leave a good tip. You don't...that makes a difference..

Larry laughed then went to talk to a customer that had just checked in and Leo had to wait. He noticed that the guy Larry was talking to was not there to buy shirt or shoes but there was something else. Larry had explained to Leo that he was in the business of making money but he didn't explain how, so Leo got curious. He needed such powerful connections like what Larry had.

Larry finished up with the guy then closed the shop and they both were on their way to their favourite joint.

Jade woke up with the gun in her hand and she was so shocked to see Magdalene dead that she quickly threw the gun on the floor and got up having panicked. She didn't know what to do, first forward what woke her up was the sirens from the police car that was already outside.

She was panting as a result of the dead body before her. She quickly collected her purse and attempted to run off before the police could catch up with her. She opened the door and dashed out but she didn't get far as the officer saw her and when she was asked to stop she started running sending all the officers running after her.

Jade: I didn't do it... I didn't do it..

The police had no idea why she was running if she really did not kill anyone though they caught up with her eventually. The police that came this time, were not the ones she easily influenced the other time..

Officer: why are you running madam?

The officer asked tightening her grip on her.

Jade: I did not kill her, I swear I did not kill her.

She was busy defending herself as the news guys covers everything that was going on. These news people, are

they always called by the police when they know there is a drama unfolding somewhere? That was not drama but they got to the scene so fast.

Officer: who else is in the house?

Jade: no one...but I can assure you officer. Someone killed her and left.

The officer smiled, what Jade was saying seemed impossible as she didn't even have proof that there had been someone else in the house..

Officer: whose gun is this?..

Jade: I don't know...

Officer: okay, we will keep this.

He said putting the gun in a polythene bag and having the other officers hand cuff Jade.

The officer rolled Magdalene's body over and checked her before asking the guys to put her in a body bag. Her blood had already clotted on the floor and they needed answers on why she killed Magdalene.

Jade was taken away and the house was now a crime scene and no one was allowed in.

Leo: so I need your help bro.

He said taking a big chunk of beef and taking a bite then drinking his beer.

Larry: what's up bro?

Leo: there is this woman. She is my brother's wife actually.

Larry's eyes widened.

Leo: come on man, stop being "judgey." I'm not done.

Larry: I'm not, I just don't understand what business you have with your brother's wife....okay I'm being a little judgemental but is she fine?

Leo: fine like wine man, the thing is I'm in love with her and I don't know how to break that news to her. I feel like my brother doesn't deserve her. He has put her through s**t and it all blew up so now she doesn't even know who to trust and I don't know how to convince her that I'm on her side.

Larry smiled and took a sip of his beer.

Leo: what are you smiling about?

Larry: it's interesting to finally see you in love..so what's the deal you want me to kill your brother for you?

Leo: hell no. He's my brother man, but I want you to do a bit of investigations..

Larry: on him?

Leo: yeah.. and this man too.. he disappeared and no one knows where he is.

He said showing him Ndegwa's photo.

Larry: what is the end game, what happens after I get info on this man?

Leo: I will pick it from there. I also need a good lawyer if you know one..

Larry: what do you need a good lawyer for, I'm here!

Leo laughed.

Leo: dude, I'm being serious. Benta could get into alot of trouble and she will need someone who can defend her. She has been roaming around with a gun and I don't know how many people she had killed so far.

Larry: you want to date a murderer?

Leo: she is not... When you meet her, you will know why..

Larry: I'm serious, I can take on any case. I'm a certified lawyer and how do you think I survive on these streets?

Leo: you sell dope too. Tell me about that?

Larry: what, are you a cop now?

Leo: no. It looks like it's a good business and I could do with a few coins.

Larry: you want to sell coke?

Leo: no. I find you some rich motherfuckers from westafrica and you give me a cut, you know how these s**t work. Those guys love that stuff.

Larry: we have a deal. For every dude you bring, you get a forty percent cut.

Leo: are you serious right now?

Larry: you are my homey man, you helped me a big deal sometime back when I was sinking. I owe you for this business and I can never say no to whatever you want.

Leo seemed happy and so was Lenny.

Larry: let me see that photo again?

Leo showed it to him.

Larry: send it to my phone with full names, I know someone who can track the guy down.

Leo: great...

Leo and Larry had their time taking about alot of stuff then when they were done, they both went their separate ways and while Larry was driving home, he called Michael. The same guy he said was going to look into the business of finding Ndegwa.

Michael: what's up man?

Larry: I've got business for you.

Michael: good timing. My wife is heavily pregnant and I need some extra cash.

Larry: I've got you. Listen. I'm sending you a photo of a guy. I needed you to ID him and give me every single detail you can get on him. It's important.

Michael: it always is buddy. Send me the photo and I will get back to you in an hour or so.

Larry: alright, Thanks.

He hanged up and sent him the photo.

Nine o'clock news, the tv screen was filled the the footage of Jade being matched out of Magdalene's house with handcuffs on her hand. Melvin looked at me and he knew I did that however he couldn't ask because I had shut him up earlier. He wanted to talk to me but I couldn't give him that chance.

When I was eight months pregnant one of those days Melvin told me he was going away for the weekend and I had to be the one doing the packing of his clothes and everything so while at it I found a gift box in one of his coats and when I opened it, it had this beautiful and very expensive watch with a note beneath it signed with love xx. The b***h did not leave a name and I thought Melvin was cheating on me so since he had gone out with his friends, I packed his stuff and waited for him to get home.

That day he got home drank for the first time and I didn't understand what had pushed him to drinking. I was a good wife, I did everything I was supposed to do and I loved him right, When he got home... I asked for an explanation on who bought the watch and for the first time since we started dating Melvin not only raised his voice at me but slapped me as well. He told me stuff that got me thinking that maybe he had been talking to his mum or maybe his friends talked stuff into him. Now it's clear that Jade was the "friends" he was out with and all along she had been saved as Mike IT. I knew it was a woman when a text came through his phone when he had passed out and Mike IT sent texts asking if he was home safe and if they were traveling together. When I called Mike IT, I was surprised that it was a woman. She said hello and when I asked who it was, she hanged up and the phone was switched off.

The following morning I confronted Melvin when he was awake and he told me I heard my own things and lectured me on receiving his calls. You know the way someone is on the wrong but because you are in love you end up feeling guilty and apologizing, he played a reverse psychology card on me and I ended up sorry. I was in love and when he told me that was a colleague who always used her husband's phone because her phone was spoilt, I knew it was stupid to believe but I did anyway.. Melvin told me he would never cheat on me and he wouldn't have a reason to because I was carrying his child. I was carrying the one thing he couldn't get from any other woman and that made me feel special.

Melvin left for his trip after convincing me that the watch was bought for his friend by her girlfriend and she asked him to deliver it to him for her. They were not taking and that was her way of apologizing...

The stupid me bought that too...

That very day, he must have told his mother I had been on his case and I was being too controlling then I got a call from her telling me she was going to be at my place in a few days.

I didn't understand why she was always on her way or what she was coming to do in my house and because I didn't want to be rude, I let her come despite the fact that I hated her guts.

When she came, she started shouting at me and telling me stuff I didn't want to hear and when I chose to walk away from her, she ran after me and pushed me down the stairs and with my bump, I went rolling down trying not to hurt my belly and I don't know what happened but the next thing is that I woke up in the hospital with an oxygen mask and Leo was by my side. That's the same day my baby was delivered prematurely...

Michael called Larry later that night with details on Ndegwa. He sent him some location and from the map it looked like a hospital.

Larry: what would he be doing in a hospital.

Michael: he got shot. I have photos of him in ICU and he doesn't look so good. I also understand that no one is allowed to visit him and no one else knows about his wareabouts and it should stay that way.

Larry: who gave those orders?

Michael: not clear but I'm looking into it. Tell whoever is digging info about him to stop. He is under some sort of protection..

Larry: okay. We will get in touch.

Ndegwa was not dead but who saved him and why were there restrictions on seeing him?....
