Christian’s POV
After Ethan and I had our talk, I headed down the hallway to where my family was. I was surprised to see that Abbie was with everyone and Jayce wasn’t by her side, but I didn’t say anything. Instead, I found a seat and joined in on the conversation they were having.
“So, Carter, Laynie wasn’t able to visit?” My mother asked her brother. Laynie was Uncle Carter’s mate, and she rarely came to visit us when he did, so I didn’t question it. My mother, however, was always hopeful that she would come and visit each time.
“The boys and I decided to make it a guys' trip and leave the girls behind.” My uncle told my mother, and I heard each one of my cousins scoff.
“We didn’t decide anything, you told us that we were coming with you and that all of our mates were staying behind.
