CHAPTER 7

L I N D Y Nightmare. Nightmares are normal especially when your body feels really tired which causes your brain to produce things which aren't real that could allow you to dream about it. I didn’t even know that Milo would get a nightmare that can pull him out of the bed. His eyes looked hysterical. Hours after Milo had a nightmare, he grew even more silent. He didn’t tell me what he dreamed about but it seemed as if it was really frightening for him. I don’t want to think that he is hiding something from me because it would only make me even more suspicious. I know Milo has been through in life while he was growing up and maybe he had dreamed about his parents fighting that is why he didn’t want to talk about it. I know he is very sensitive about that topic so I didn’t want to hurt him by reminding him about that kind of pain he has been going through. Still, I can’t seem to forget about Jolene, I still don’t know who she is. “Lindy.” I pulled my head up and stared at Gwyneth who was eating breakfast with us on the table. She smiles at me, “Eat up. Milo ordered all of these because it is good for you.” “Thank you, Gwyneth.” I answered. I was worried that she would be mad at me once she knew I was pregnant, but I was wrong, She was more considerate about me and it’s quite heartwarming to see her being much careful with me. Gwyneth is a very kind person and I can feel how sincere she was about my condition. When we finished breakfast, we went to the salon where Milo waited for an hour or two. He even fell asleep on the couch which looked too adorable. Gwyneth and I had manicures, pedicures and massages which was exactly what I needed. We headed to some of Gwyneth’s favorite boutiques which ranged from affordable to really expensive clothes. I picked some clothes for Milo which he modeled very handsomely. Shopping was really fun. At the end of the day, we were done. “I had so much fun with you Lindy.” Gwyneth tells me. “Me too! I really enjoyed our time together.” I answered with a smile. “This won’t be the last for sure.” She responds. I nod, “Um Gwyneth?” “Yeah?” “I’m really sorry for not telling you right away about the baby.” She stares at me, “Lindy, I understand why you had to hide it. I am not mad and I have no right to be mad at you, silly.” She smiles. Gwyneth takes my hand, “I am happy for you but at the same time worried for you too.” “Thank you Gwyneth.” “Have you thought about how you would tell your parents?” I shake my head, “No. I haven’t really thought much about it. I am too scared to even think about it. I just don’t know how to face my parents, especially my dad.” “I see. If you need anything, I would love to help you in anyway I could.” “I’m lucky to have you.” She embraces me, “You damn are.” We laugh together. “Promise me something.” She says before pulling herself away and staring back at me, “When things go wrong, no matter what happens, you will tell me okay?” What does she mean by that? I nod anyways, “I will.” “I know you grew up having a sister who hates your existence, so I want to let you know that I can fill I for her shoes in case you need someone.” A smile creeps on my face, “You’re too kind but thank you Gwyneth.” “By the way.” She pulls out one paper bag from the things she bought and handed it to me. “For you.” My brows creasing, “For me?” She nods. “Open it.” “But what’s the occasion?” She chuckles, “You don’t need occasions to buy gifts for people that are dear to you.” I smile at her. “Go, open it.” She insists. “I thought about you when I saw it so I instantly bought it right away.” I started opening the paper bag and saw a note book that seemed like a journey or something and a cute hand-knitted slipper inside. “That’s a Mamentos Before Child Pregnancy Journal so you could write down everything you want to.” “Oh Gwyneth that’s so sweet of you. Thank you.” I said as I examined the journal before throwing myself to her. “This means so much to me. Thank you. “That’s a Tory Burch knit slippers so you would feel comfy especially when your stomach will start to grow.” She says. “Gwyneth you didn’t have to.” I cooed. “Dont worry, more are coming your way as soon as your baby gets delivered.” She smiles. “Thank you so much. How did you know my size?” “Milo said you were size seven or eight depending on the shoe style. I do hope it would fit though.” Milo begins to join our table as soon as he was finished in the bathroom, “What I miss?” “Look at Gwyneth’s gifts.” I showed him. Milo examines it with a smile before he turns to Gwyneth, “Thank you G.” “Always, welcome Milo.” She smiles back. “Anyways, I have been meaning to ask you both about what you’re going to do when your bump gets bigger?” Milo and I glanced at each other and to be honest we haven’t really thought about anything yet. I haven’t really thought about some back-up plans in case the news will finally come out. Sooner or later it will come out all though I wish I could keep it in the low. I wouldn’t want this pregnancy to be out in the public where the media and the fans would enjoy the thought of criticizing it as if it’s a funny matter. “You both have not talked about I, have you?” Gwyneth asks before she sips her juice. “Not yet.” Milo answers. “Have you ever thought about the instances that she would get pictured visiting her OB-Gyn when she needs to?” Gwyneth asks something we have not talked about too. I stare at my fingers. “Moreover, you won’t be there for her all the time Milo so it would be hard for Lindy to be going through all this on her own.” She adds. I pulled my head up, “I will be careful.” Milo moved his head to me and smiled. “I know you will be careful. All I am saying is that, it would be too hard for you to handle this on your own. You are in college. You have school.” Gwyneth responds. “I will make time for her as much as I could. I told you Gwyneth, I will take responsibility.” Milo answers before he plants his lips on the back of my hand. After a long day and a wonderful weekend spent in Paris, Milo and I finally got in a private jet together with Gwyneth. We were finally heading back and a part of me didn’t want to go back because it would mean that Milo and I will be far away from each other again. The thought of him leaving me scares me but I know I needed to be careful for myself and our baby. We settled down on our sears as I glanced outside my window drowning my sad thoughts out of my head. There was so much going in my life and in my mind that I didn’t want to bother because what is important to me is having Milo. Out of nowhere, I feel Milo’s hand holding my hand as I travelled my eyes towards him with a smile on his face. “Hey cutie.” I teased. He kisses my knuckles, “Are you okay?” I nod. “You look spaced out.” He commented. I shake my head sideways, “Just thinking about a lot of things.” “Like what?” “Us. Our baby. The future in store now that we are three. My parents. Your mom.” I answered. And Jolene. “We can take things one at a time.” He tells me. “I don’t want you to worry too much about other unnecessary things okay? It’s not good for the baby. Just think of thoughts that makes you happy.” I smile, “You make me happy.” “Then think of me all the time.” He plants his lips on my temple. “I always think of you.” “Me too.” Milo’s grip on my hand tightens a little bit, “Lindy?” “Yes?” “Promise me that when you get back to Yale, you wont stress yourself out too much okay?” I nod. “I will try not to.” “And always eat something healthy.” I smile sheepishly, “Yes Doctor Milo.” “Please take care of our baby.” His eyes looks at me dearly. I nod, “I will.” During our eight-hour flight, the three of us had fallen asleep. I was woken up for the urge of wanting to pee and there I see Milo sleeping next to me while Gwyneth was curled into a ball with her head on the seat handle. I glance at my watch and it was already 4AM, Connecticut time. As soon as I finished in the lavatory and sat back on my seat, my life flashed before my eyes from the day I swapped phones with Milo to the day I found out that he was Milo Beckett. Now, we are having a baby. It is going to be an exciting journey. I stare out of the window and it was pitch black outside. Until I feel someone’s hand over my lap and as I turn to Milo, he looked at me with the groggiest eyes and sleepy smile. “Hey baby.” He greeted. I leaned over and kissed his lips while his hand was rubbing my thigh as he slowly inserts his hand under the hem of my dress. “Milo.” I said shyly. He smiles over my lips, “I can’t help it.” I chuckle as I still feel his hand over my thigh while he softly rubs it against my skin. The more I stare into him, the more I am curious about Jolene. I have been wanting to ask him about her and why he seemed guarded about this woman named Jolene. “Milo?” I asked as he rested his chin over my shoulder. He smiles, “Yes?” “I have been meaning to ask about Jolene.” His smile faded and his eyes avoided my gaze, “Ask about what?” “Who is she to you?” Milo pursed his lips and slowly started pulling himself away from me. “Lindy, why do you need to know about Jolene?” “Because I never knew about her until Gwyneth mentioned her the other day.” “Jolene is Gwyneth’s friend.” He answers staring firmly into my eyes. “Didn’t she already tell you?” “I know that but what is she to you?” He sighs, “Jolene is just someone I know, that’s it.” I nod. “Didn’t you have a relationship with her?” “No.” Milo turns his head to me, “Can we not talk about her? I don’t really see any importance of her being brought up in our conversation.” In the back of my head I know he is hiding something but I have always trusted Milo. Yet, I am still unsure that Jolene is just someone he knows.
