Chapter Two

Yoon Tae oh’s point of View

It’s pouring

The weather forecast didn’t say it would pour today but it was pouring down heavily I cannot help but be afraid that we would lose all the clues from the mountain. The Royal guards are busting their asses trying to find anything at all in this rain and I joined them

Bukhan Mountain is huge and we don’t have a particular spot so yeah searching is not going quite peachy not to mention Lisa is trying to keep me dry. I hate the rain but here I am hands on the ground trying to search for anything at all

“Alpha Tae oh we got this you don’t have to do this” Lisa said over the loud rain, her beautiful newly manicured claws grabbed around the steel handled umbrella as she puts it over our heads

“I need to do this” i told her continuing my search, god I hate the rain so much

“Yoon Tae oh” she grabs my arm and I snarled at her she got her hands off me and sighed “Alpha we will do this, it’s already raining so hard we will be lucky if the rain hasn’t already washed off all the clues”

She is right

The possibility of us finding something, finding anything either a footstep, blood stain, hair or whatever is all gone thanks to this stupid rain. Of all time it decides to rain today? It decided to rain now? I would smack the person in charge of the rain in heaven if I ever meet him or her

“I know you don’t want to but you’ll have to call off the search” she adds, switching the umbrella in her hands as she manages to keep me dry although it wasn’t working perfectly for her

“I don’t want to go back empty handed again”

I hate this. People are dying

I am losing my people every single full moon and the one time we have a clue I can’t even search and successfully find a single piece of evidence.

“I Know I know Alpha but look at your people” she gestures as the crowd of people who worked for me, all dressed in suit equally drenched and still searching for anything they could find

I licked my dry lips, removed the gloves from my hand and tilt the umbrella towards Lisa to keep her from the rain “Fine. Call off the search” I finally agreed. Lisa nods then yells ‘Search is over’

Another failed attempt but I won’t give up.

I can’t give up now, if I do it means I failed the wolves who has lost their lives to this sick bastard. I don’t care if the rain dug a hole in my body, I don’t mind at all but what I can’t bear is to see my people suffer. So I watched as they all ran back into the vans they came with and I instructed them to go back to the Alpha building

“Let’s go” Lisa said after watching everyone leave

“You go Lisa I’ll continue my search”

“What? No!” she frown “There’s no way I’m leaving you alone in this mountain”

I chuckled wearing back my gloves “I’m the strongest werewolf in all of Seoul darling I can take care of myself besides I don’t want you to get those pretty claws of yours dirty” I smirked

“Tae oh listen to me for once in your life, let’s leave” she said still following me as I walked deeper into the mountain. Bukhan Mountain has a history with Seoul, especially with the werewolves, it is far away from main land Seoul and big enough to contain a lot of werewolves not to mention it’s safe and a lot of werewolves has their first shift at eighteen here, a lot of werewolf including myself and Lisa. We are the same age and we were both chosen by the moon goddess as potential Alpha. Lisa, i and ten other werewolves from the other founding family and after the battle all the other wolves got the rank of Delta some like Lisa, choose to work with me to make Seoul a better and safer place while 5 others decided to leave Seoul and went to other districts, they became rogue because they didn't want me as their Alpha.

I shouldn't blame them

I even heard about Han Tae Sul who everyone thought would have been Alpha, now lives in Daegu, district of the witches. It’s been ten years and I wonder how he is doing. He was angry when he left Seoul with four others because he didn't become the Alpha, he said I didn't deserve the position and the choosing was rigged not to mention he said I was not masculine enough to handle it but the moon goddess thought different, the council thought differently. Han Tae Sul who used to be my brother and comrade along side four others left me

“Yoon Tae oh!” Lisa’s angry loud voice might have actually conquered the sound of the thunder. Her bleached platinum fringed hair is now soaked up by the rain and she had her makeup running down her face. This woman needs to keep herself safe from the rain instead of trying to protect me instead. I tilt the umbrella back to her

“You either join me or leave Lisa” I sing song walking further

“I swear to god, I don’t know how I keep up with you all this years. You never listen to me by the way. Why do I still stay with you?”

“Are you asking me that?” I furrow my eyebrow in a question

“No, Alpha I am just thinking out loud”

I rolled my eyes and before I could come up with a response to her sassy comment, my leg collides with a force and I crash into the mud on the floor, face first. My eyes tightly shut close as my face crumpled up at the disgusting mud. I can already imagine Lisa holding her laugh and it would have been worse if I could see her.

“Are you okay?” I heard her ask. Her voice laced with a hint of chuckle

“I’m having the best day as you can see”

“you could use the sleeve of your hooded sweater to clean your face”

“No way!” I refused “My mom bought me this”

“I swear to god” she hissed and I feel a hand scrub on my face. I open my eyes to see her squatting in front of me with lack of interest on her face, still holding the umbrella.

I flash Lisa a smile before a flash of lighting appears then a loud thunder echoed in the mountain. I have never been here when it’s raining, it’s kind of scary. i tried to get up on my feet to continue my search but instead slips on the slippery mud and before I could understand what was happening I was rolling uncontrollably down the steep

My poor mental health was all over the muddy floor in Bukhan Mountain. I feel so embarrassed. I am sure none of the Alpha before me had to experiences such firsthand embarrassment. I want to disappear

My body collides with something that stops me from rolling off the planet and I struggle even more to stand up, mud all over my face and body, I couldn’t see a thing. My ears twitch as I use it to replace my vision. I could hear Lisa carefully walking towards me and I could tell she didn’t want to be the next victim

“If you had listened to me you won’t be ….” She stops

“I won’t be looking like the moon goddess hates me I know”

“What is that?”

“What?” I can feel the hair on my back stand up at her question. I am temporary blind so I don’t take any chance at all and instead, I have my claws out and my fangs as I stood ready to hit or cut anything or everything. Although all werewolves could only change during the full moon, I could change at will.

“There’s a body behind you” she almost whispers

“What?” I quickly collect the small rain droppings and wiped my face off. It’s not the best but I could at least see. Dear God I’m a mess.

No not a mess.

Saying I’m a mess is like actually insulting what a mess typical would look like. This was way worse than that.

My eyes follow Lisa’s as I indeed see a body on the muddy ground,

Not another body

Although this body wasn’t hanged like the other three or even in transition, Lisa walks closer to me and we both squat down to get a closer look at this body. I placed my hand on the crook of his neck and could feel the little pulse.

“He’s alive” I sighed, thanking the moon goddess. I cannot have another dead body on my hand

“It’s a he?” Lisa asked her hand on the body’s face to check if it was a werewolf. Up until a year ago we didn’t have to check if anyone was a werewolf or not because they all were but after I opened the gates of Seoul to other beings, we had to be more careful. It wasn’t hard knowing which from which.

“I think so” I replied, clearing off the mud from his skin, at first I thought maybe it was because he is all covered in mud that made him appear dark but after wiping a portion off his skin I see that he is indeed a chocolate skin creature and a question peaked my attention

Is he a tourist?

Or is he an immigrant living in Seoul? We don’t have many dark skinned creatures leaving here so yes I am surprised to what a non citizen was doing under this rain, drenched in the middle of Bukha mountain. Or is he a werewolf who also came here to change?

I carefully checked his ears to see if he is a werewolf, maybe one who hasn’t shifted yet, his ears are not pointed like any werewolves and I proceeded to check his finger claws but they were actually nails, no claws

He must be a witch

I proceed to check his forehead to see if he bared the witch markings but nothing

I check his tongue to see if it was divided like that of a banshees but no

It’s obvious that he is not a gumiho or he’ll have his nail tails out but no tails

He must be a water creature so I proceed to check the back of his ears but no gills. I look over my shoulder to see Lisa’s eyes carefully on me. She seems to be confused just like I was

I look back at this strange half naked chocolate skin boy in my mountain.

What is he?

“It can't be could it?” Lisa said turning her attention at me

“Be what?” I asked opened to any suggestion she might have

“There is no way he is” she does a little head tilt

“Lisa speak up, I am not a freaking mind reader” I frowned

“Could he be human?”

“You must be crazy if you think humans exist” I deadpan

“I know put he is obviously not anything that we know” she tries to justify her unreasonable reason

“Humans don’t exist” I would roll my eyes but I fear the little mud on my eyelash might see this as a chance to come dive into my eyeball so I don’t.

“I know Alpha Tae oh but…”

“This is why I told you to stop watching cartoons” I cut her short

Really? Of everything she could possible think of she thought of him being human? What are we in? A bloody telenova or a K-drama? Humans don’t exist, they never did and they never will. Some people believe that they existed once, before the moon goddess created werewolves and other creatures but c’mon that’s a lie. People only pass such baseless rumors to sell their novels and movies, humans are nothing but myth passed down for the amusement of all. They don’t exist

“Then explain why he doesn’t have anything that would tell us what he is” she gestures at this unconscious body

“Fine, I’ll prove to you that he is not human and humans don’t exist” I said grabbing my small knife from my boot. It’s an old habit of mine to hide knives

“What are you going to do? Stab the poor boy to death? Have you forgotten that he is not Asian talk more of a citizen of Seoul, do you want to have problem with the embassy?”

“Shut up Lisa” I cut her ranting “Human are said to bleed red blood right?”

“Yeah?”

I took his palm and softly pressed my knife on his palm “Well if he really is human he should bleed red but if he is normal as he should be he’ll bleed blue and you owe me a bottle of whiskey”

She thinks of my offer “if I’m right what do I get?”

“You get to say I told you so” I shrug

“That’s a shitty bet”

“Well, take it or leave it. Either way I’m cutting him”

She rolls her eyes “Fine”

I pressed my knife harder into the hands of the boy, it’s going to hurt like hell seeing how I newly sharpened it last night, but it doesn’t matter. He’ll heal like everyone else and if we are lucky he’ll heal up before he actually wakes up so I dragged the knife on his palm and watch it cut open

Lisa has the umbrella covering all three of us so the rain doesn’t wash away his blood as in a second blue….

“RED Blood” Lisa gasps

Red blood uncontrollably gushed out of his palm making my soul leave my body

“H-he” I stuttered

“He’s human” Lisa said not believing what we actually saw

“He shouldn’t exist. How is this possible?”

How is it that this boy is human?
