The house was quiet, tonight. A little too...quiet.
And so, Aria remained quiet as she let herself into the house. There was a child in her arms, fast asleep with his head resting on her shoulders.
Aria made no noise with her feet, and she had just walked in when the thick scent of blood hit her lungs, and a cold chill ran up her spine. Her small figure moved forward, and she dearly hoped and prayed it was not what she was thinking.
Then, she sighted a feet poking out behind the couch. With her legs trembling like she was about to collapse, she walked over to see the sight she dreaded the most.
Lying there were two of the people she loved. Mr. and Mrs. Kevin, with so many claw tears that had ripped open their clothes, and tore into their skin. There were also holes made in their stomach, and the appearance of the blood informed Aria that they had just been killed..a few minutes ago.
Then, she heard something else. There were movements coming from upstairs and her eyes whipped to stare at the staircase.
The killers were still here. What did they want?!
"We've looked everywhere. The Omega is not here," A deep voice whispered.
The word Omega was enough to tell Aria that they were looking for her. Her warm eyes became hard, and rage filled her mind. If not for her son, who would be at the crossfire, she would have returned the favor to them. How could they do this to her adoptive parents?
"Maybe she's not home. I know she lives here," Another voice replied. He sounded like the leader, "Hide the bodies and clean up the mess. Let's wait until she returns,"
And that was Aria's cue to take her leave. She turned around and made to leave as quietly as she had come in, but she knew it wouldn't be as easy as it was coming in. They were already running down the stairs, and Aria had to burst Into a run.
"Found her! She's on the run," A yell came from the stairs just as Aria unlocked the door and jumped out of the house, sprinting far Into the night.
Her son was already waking up, and she quickly pressed his head back to lay on her shoulders. The men chasing after her were not too far behind, and Aria just kept running. Knowing it would get even worse if she ran through town, she dashed into the woods.
Sharp movements and heavy breaths coming from behind had her forcing her legs to move faster as the killers were catching up. If only she could find a safe place to put down Caleb, her son, and properly face them.
God, she would make them all go through ten times the pain Mr. And Mrs. Kevin had to go through because of her.
Tears gathered in her eyes, but this was no time to mourn their deaths. She had to protect herself and her son so that she would get another chance to track down the killers and be the predator the next time.
Aria ran past trees, her naked feet snapping twigs and crushing dried leaves here and there. The sounds kept telling the killers exactly where she was, meaning she couldn't escape from them except she found a good place to hide.
"You little s**t! There's nowhere to hide. You better stop running and just give up!" That same voice that had asked them to hide the bodies and clean up the mess screamed through the night, "Or are you just going to run away and leave your beloved Parents behind?"
There was so much mockery when he said so, and Aria swallowed and forced herself to keep running. He was only trying to piss her off and make her stop running so that they would catch up.
"They refused to say anything about you. Those old rats...that was what keeping their mouths shut led to. You should have seen the Old Man's eyes when I dug a hole through him. The woman was screaming and crying for me to stop. Of course, I did, right before I gave her her own share,"
Rage. Her Rage has never been this bad before. Aria thought nothing could beat what she had felt the day that man had rejected her, and forced her to leave his Pack. Memories like that never left her mind, and she had left carrying nothing but the pain...and her unborn child.
But after Meeting Anthony and Kate, after they had welcomed her into the family like she has always been their own, the dark and haunting memories were able to be kept at bay. She was able to find herself again and began to enjoy the little things in life.
The little and big moments.
If Aria had known this was the Kind of cruel fate that awaited them five years later, she would never have let herself come into their lives. They had died because of her.
Because she was an Omega. A Wolf without a Pack. A lone wolf...and Omegas are not exactly welcomed into society.
But then, why exactly were these werewolves after her? What do they want from her?
Aria had been running for so long that she didn't realize she had left the city completely. She had just turned around to look at where her chasers were when she slipped and started to roll down a cliff she hadn't seen earlier.
Her every protection went to making sure Caleb was safely pressed against her chest as she rolled down, bruising and slamming her body into the hard slope as they went down. It was definitely a cliff for it to be that high, and Aria just have slammed her head along the way because her vision was now getting blurry.
She didn't even realize she had landed at the end of the cliff, lying next to a small lake with Caleb crying in her arms.
Apart from the crying, she could hear her chasers talking about her. They had arrived at the edge of the cliff above her.
"What the hell do you think you're doing?!"
"You must be ready to die for you to go down there. Or Are you not aware of whose territory this is?"
"Alpha Ezekiel would rip us Into shreds! We have to turn back, now!"
"What about the Omega?"
A chuckle came from above, "You could as well just say that she's as good as dead. Alpha Ezekiel Spares no one who walks into his territory, unannounced!"
Caleb was crying. Aria gently patted him on the back, hoping he would silence down as she slowly slipped into unconsciousness.
"Ezekiel...?" She murmured, and her face turned sour.
