Chapter 3 - The Sun

The next day with the sun rising high above the community of the Howling Wolf Pack. The warmth of the sunlight shined right through the open curtains of the master bedroom. Seanna felt the warm sun upon her face, waking her up from her deep slumber. She noticed that her mate was not laying next to her this morning. Stretching out her arms above her head, lacing her fingers together. Sighing from the best sleep she has had in years. Pulling her comforter off from her body, standing up from bed yawning from her sleep. Walking towards her closet doors, making her way inside in search for a simple outfit for the day at work in the clinic. After five minutes of searching, seanna grabs her simple white long-sleeved knee-length tight dress that helps extenuates her curves. Grabbing her white flats that match white her dress, making her way into the bathroom placing her clothes upon the sink with her shoes. Stepping into her shower, turning on her hot and cold water. Letting the warm water run down her body, helping it relax her muscle from the erotic activities with her mate last night. Just remembering what had transpired between them, seanna felt her face flush from how gentle and loving Ares was towards her. Finishing up her shower, turning it off and stepping out into her bathroom. Grabbing her towel from the rack near her toilet, drying herself off and putting her dress up on her body, tying the small belt around her slim waist. Brushing out her bright blood red hair, grabbing it all and putting into a messy bun. Noticing the mark upon her neck, gasping in delight seeing how her mate mark looks upon her delicate skin. His full name shows in delicate cursive writing mixed with a wolf howling towards the sun. “Hot damn. Sea our mate is wonderful. He accepts us.” Hearing Lilianna speak and jumping around all in happiness within their connection. Giggling towards her wolf’s hyper antics, seanna makes her way downstairs after finishing her morning routine. Once making it to her kitchen sighing in her own happiness, grabbing her travel cup from the top cupboard. Searching for her favourite tea leaves. “Well, seems like it is time to go grocery shopping soon.” letting out a frustrated groan. putting her away her travel mug, grabbing her house keys from the table at her front door. Placing her white shoes on her feet. Locking up her house, sighing, annoyed from not having her morning tea. Taking a walk through the community, letting herself enjoy the atmosphere of her home, hearing the conversations of people out and about. Scents from wafting from the bakeries and restaurants making her a tad bit hungry. Her mind wonders towards her loving mate. Wondering how he was doing at work, and if he even misses her. Shaking her head to clear her thoughts away from Ares and her mind. “Wonder if Ares is doing all right at work?” thinking to herself, promising to herself to stop by at the pack house to see Ares. Reaching her destination of the clinic, walking into the clinic, hearing the tiny bell ring above the door. With her appearance of an air of happiness coming from herself. Making her way to her office grabbing her white doctor’s coat placing upon her shoulder over her own dress. Picking up her mail, checking them over to make sure everything was in order. Grabbing her office chair taking her seat letting her body relax against her cool comfy chair, leaning her head back on the chair. Her eyes travelled to the window of her office, smiling, remembering of her time learning with Lexi. Seeing them learn the same course Stacy and Ember are learning right now. “Love, is everything all right?” hearing her mate’s deep baritone voice within her mind, seanna grew excited hearing from him after this morning. “Babe, I’m doing all right. I was a little upset this morning. I’m doing fine now.” Getting up from her chair, laughing at both of Lexi’s student’s keeping her private mind link open with her mate. “Good to hear love. Dom is calling me for the meeting. See you later today angel?” smiling to herself hearing how nervous deep voice had become. “Yes, babe. I’ll come to your office later after my shift”  hearing Lexi coming into the clinic, seanna blushes red, hearing her mate’s deep laugh from their mind link. “Sweetheart, sounds good. See you after your shift.” Ares spoke through their private mind link. Seanna cuts off the mind link, feeling so flustered and embarrassed. Sighing with happy contentment Seanna gets back into her paperwork, looking over patients files and calling all of her patients checking in on them. Just thinking about knowing how amused her mate is of her. “Hey, Sea.” looking up from her paperwork seeing Lexi walk into her office seeing the mischievous glint appears in her hazel-green eyes. “So, are you going to let me in on your date night with Ares?” Lexi asked closing the door of the office making sure no one will hear their conversation, taking a seat in front of her friends desk. Placing her hands together lacing her fingers on top of the desk waiting for seanna to spill the juicy news “Lex, our date was beautiful” smiling remembering how every magical moment that happened last night. “I’m so happy for you, Sea.” Lexi jumps up from her seat,  leaning across the desk between her and seanna. Hugging the poor women in pure happiness. Hugging her dear friend back with excitement between them both. Hours flew by with both women working nonstop dealing with each patient that came in the Howling Wolf Pack Clinic. Sighing after finishing up the last of her paperwork, seanna looks at the clock on her wall. Noticing that her shift just ended an hour ago. Getting up from chair taking off her doctor’s coat, worried about what Aries would think about her for not going to his office when her shift finished. “Ares, babe. Have you had lunch yet?” waiting for Ares to reply through their private mind link. Seanna makes her way out of the clinic, making her way to Shae’s café after saying her good bye to Lex and her students. Making it to the café, looking over the menu, trying to figure out what to grab for herself and for Ares. “Angel, I haven’t had lunch yet. Where are you?” hearing her mate’s voice startled her a bit, making her jump in her spot in line at the café. “Babe, I just got off work. I’m at Shae’s café. Do you want me to get you anything to bring to you at work?” sighing from exhaustion of her long morning shift at the clinic. Waiting in the line up to pay for the food. “Angel, can you grab me a roast beef sub, please?” just hearing her mate’s voice with some strain to it worried her. “Just grabbing it now, babe.” ending their private mind link, Seanna pays for their food leaving the café and hurrying her way to Ares office. Making to the pack house in the centre of town. Carrying the bag of food with her, worrying about her and trying to figure out what could have been causing her mate distress. Shaking her head to rid herself of the worry, she made it to his office, knocking once on the door after ignoring everyone on her way. Making her way into the office, noticing that Ares was not there. Shrugging to herself while placing the bag of food on the coffee table near the bay window, looking out towards the training grounds below. Sighing with contentment, looking around her mate’s office with curiosity. Making her way towards his desk, noticing that how clean, organized with how his paperwork finished on one side of his enormous oak desk. Taking a seat in his black leather chair, letting her shoes slip off her small feet. Not realizing how tired she was from working all day. Yawning behind her delicate hand trying to hide her small yawn that slipped from her mouth, seeing that Ares leather jacket was behind his chair. Grabbing it, placing upon her small petite body, nuzzling into his coat, smelling his strong ocean and sandalwood scent. Curling herself into a small compacted ball in the enormous leather chair, letting his scent calm her down. Waiting for Ares to return, feeling her tired eyes close from exhaustion of her day. Forgetting that about the food she brought her, letting herself fall into a slight slumber. Without her knowledge, someone had entered Ares’ office without his permission. This junior soon-to- be warrior in training had made his way inside his beta’s office, trying to pinpoint the scent he had smelled. Without paying much attention to himself, the youthful man sniffed in the air, tying to find the sweet scent that he followed all the way into Beta Ares office. “Wonder who in the Beta’s office?” walking even further in the room, ignorant of the danger he was about the endurance. creeping, he was near the desk, seeing that the office chair was facing towards the bay window. Curiosity made its way into his mind, making his way near the chair. Stopping when he heard an angry deep growl coming from someone behind him. Turning around, the young warrior jumped, noticing Beta Ares was standing behind him with his arm crossed across his chest. Pure rage was in his dark hunter green eyes. “Beta Ares!” bowing the warrior did not understand what trouble he will be in with the Beta. “Pup. What are you doing in my office?”

Ares Maxwell POV

“Pup. What are you doing in my office?” Trying to keep my anger at bay, making sure my angel still fast asleep in my chair. Stealing a quick glance to my angel who was awake staring at us both from peaking her beautiful face around my chair. “Angel you all right?” seeing her facial features soften brought peace more to my heart knowing that she is all right from that one look upon her sweet face. Seeing her nod from my words, I sent through our private link. Taking my eyes off of her for a one second, staring down the young pup more, then I was a few minutes ago. Hearing my mate’s sweet laughter coming from the bay window. Shaking my head, smirking at my angel’s innocent laughter. Raising one of my elegant eyebrows at the young pup, waiting for his response to why he was in my office without permission. Watching my mate walk towards me, hugging, snuggling her face into my chest. Wrapping my own arms around her petite body, hugging her closer to me to keep her in my arms. “Well, pup? You going to answer me?” watching the pup shuffle from one leg to the other, narrowing my eyes in annoyance. Feeling a slight pinch on my backside. Looking down towards my angel, seeing her own blue eyes narrow at me with her soft pink lips pouting at me. Chuckling towards my angel, I knew our lives will fill with adventure, love, and never a dull moment with her beside me. Now and forevermore. Knowing my angel is mine since the night before. Marking her and complete the mating ritual. Binding us. She is already my wife. Seems like I may need to ask in a favour of my dear friend to help make it permeant. Making my beautiful angel, my Seanna, my wife. That is one promise I will keep.

“Ares, there is no need to be rough with him” having to tilt her head backwards to look at her handsome mate, just to speak to him. Pouting her soft pink lips, waiting for her mate to kiss her. Hugging herself much closer to Ares, making sure he won’t do any harm towards the innocent, curious young pup. Leaning her head against Ares chest, hearing his powerful heart beat, letting the rhythm calm down her own nerves from not realizing that someone else was even in the rooms with her. Taking a small look at the young pup, noticing that it was Eric Johnson. “Eric, what are you doing here?” snuggling into her mate’s warmth, keeping her eyes upon the adolescent man. The teen noticed who had spoken to him. His eyes widen, realizing that Dr. Myst was the scent he had followed. Shaking off the shock, and now more confused on why his Doctor was even in Beta Ares office. “Dr. Myst, I was only following a scent I had picked up on.” 

Hearing this coming out of the young pup's mouth, Ares tightens his hold on his angel, growling from within his own chest. Feeling the need to protect his angel at all costs. Seanna sighed, nuzzling her face into her strong warrior mate’s muscular chest. Feeling his muscles tensing up, ready to protect her at all costs. “Eric, can you please leave?” Making sure her sweet voice was strong and heard. Watching Eric leave the room after listening to his doctor, noticing that his Beta was about to the loose it. Running from the scene before him, wondering why his doctor was even there to begin with. After seeing Eric run out the office, Seanna stepped out her mate’s embraced, grabbing his larger hands into her small ones. Taking him to his seat at the coffee table. “Ares, please sit down, I brought lunch” speaking to her mate watching him take a seat on the low couch. Smiling to her mate, Seanna pulls out there lunch and hands him roast beef sub with a bottle of water. Giving his mate a small kiss on her forehead, thanking her for the food without words. “Ares, what is going on. I noticed how worried you sounded earlier?” finishing up her lunch, leaning her head against Ares shoulder, letting him finish his food. Sighing with the stress of knowing his mother injuries that came from the rouges, that attacked his old pack. Placing his half eaten sub down, Ares looks into his angel’s bright blue eyes showing worry and concern within the blue depths. Deciding to lie down on the couch, Ares places his head upon his mate’s lap, letting his feet hang over the edge of the couch. Wrapping his arms around Seanna’s waist taking in her sweet aroma helping him to calm down before formulating the right response to his loving mate. Feeling her small long delicate fingers run through his hair, almost made him fall asleep from her tender strokes. Closing his eyes, just letting his mate take care of him. “Love, my brother from my old pack called us asking for help. My mother was one of the injured during the rouge attack a few days ago. We just found out.” Nuzzling more into her warmth, trying to keep his emotions from overwhelming himself and his mate. “Ares, we should see about talking with Alpha Dominic about visiting with your family.” Speaking towards her mate in a sweet voice, wrapping her arms around his shoulders, hugging him against herself, as he lays upon her lap. Keeping her gentle strokes through his shoulder length hair that has fallen loose upon him laying down. Watching him, noticing how he has fallen asleep against her body. Smiling towards her mate, humming the lullaby her late mother used to sing to her when she was just a young pup. Feeling her wolf let out a slight wave of emotions towards their mate, helping both human and wolf counterparts keep calm while they slept. Hearing someone approach the open office door. Seeing who it was, brought a slight smile upon her face. Just seeing that Alpha Dominic enter the room after closing the door behind himself, to make sure no one hears the conversation. “Alpha, seems like we meet again so soon?” smiling towards her alpha still keeping Ares sleeping against her with how quiet her voice was. “Seems like we meet again Seanna, right?” nodding his head while taking a seat in the office chair after pulling it towards the mated couple. Giggling, trying to keep the noise down and from waking up Ares. Taking the seat in front of his best friend and his mate, the young Alpha's jealousy towards his Beta, seeing him with his mate. Sighing from it all, he was also happy for him. Sighing from the stress and knowing that they have to head out tomorrow morning to help with Alpha Nathan Maxwell with the rouge problems. “Seanna, I have already asked Lex if she can live without you for a few weeks. I need you to come with me and Ares tomorrow morning, to help with the rouge attacks and help with any injured patients” sighing annoyed Dominic kept running his hand throughout his dark blonde hair, trying to keep everything from falling apart. Seanna noticed how this trip will be one huge trial on all three of them. When this is all about her strong warrior mate. Returning to the one place that has caused him so much inner pain. 

Nodding her head, agreeing with her Alpha without having to say any form of words. The trip tomorrow will be one trial to remember for them all. Dominic sighed, thankful Seanna understood without needing to speak. Standing up, getting ready to leave them to their own privacy. “Alpha, I will do everything in my power to protect you and my mate at all costs. I know tomorrow will not be easy for Ares” keeping her bright blue eyes trained on her Alpha with determination shining from within her soul. He could see how strong willed she was just by looking into her eyes, knowing that she will do everything in her power to keep them both safe and taken care of. “All right. Ares room is next door to the office, if you both need to rest before we leave in the morning. Lex has all ready packed up your suitcase and brought it here for you” saying his last words for the night, leaving them both to their own privacy. Watching Dom leave the room sighing from what will happen starting tomorrow, knowing how long of a flight it will be before they can reach their destination. Shaking her mate awake, smiling with concern written on her sweet face. Watching her mate stretch after standing up from laying down. Ares turns around picking up his angel into his arms carrying her bridal style towards his private room next to his office at the pack house. Placing her down onto the bed, taking off his shirt and pants, leaving him in nothing but his boxers. Climbing in the bed, waiting for his mate to join him for sleep. Tomorrow will be one lengthy journey back towards the past. 

Seanna takes her cloths off from the day, letting them fall to the ground, having her naked body on full display. Getting herself ready for bed, crawling her way into her mate’s waiting embrace. Snuggling into his warmth, letting his strong fresh ocean water and sandalwood scent calm her racing heart from what she had learned five minutes ago. Listening to Ares strong heart, help lull her to sleep without a worry. Ares wrapped his arms around his angel, keeping her safe within his embrace as he let her sweet scent of lavender and fresh rain help calm his own anxiety. Tomorrow will be the biggest trial of their lives. With one last thought, Ares let sleep consume him. Letting his mate's calming breathing and her scent help him sleep. Letting Sleep consume, with his beautiful mate sleeping next to him was all needed to rest and prepare for tomorrows trials.
