Let's Hunt

~ Deimos POV ~ "He is late. That's why I keep telling you that he is too young for this responsibility. He might be the eldest son of the Alpha, but he doesn't respect us as his elders. How could he lead the pack when he is not even ready to sacrifice for the sake of the pack? The eldest brother never listens to others, the middle of the triplets doesn't care about anyone and the youngest… he is a threat to all the she-wolves. In short, they are not capable of handling the position of the Alpha." Orion, one of the oldies, tried to turn the others against me and my brothers, but he didn't have even the slightest idea that we could hear him clearly, as we did standing outside the door. I opened the door to see his surprised face and my other two brothers silently followed me. Everyone got up from their seats and when I gazed at Orion, his face was as white as a sheet. "An Alpha never sacrifices for anybody. Maybe that's one of the reasons why you are not in my position. As for not listening to others… I don't like to listen to bullshit. What happened? Cat got your tongue?" I smirked at him while I walked to the center where my seat was placed. I looked at my brothers and they just nodded their heads. "Should I cut his tongue, brother?" Rowan, the youngest brother of mine, asked me through mind-linking and I shook my head. Cutting that tongue surely might be painful, but that's not enough to quell my anger. "Could you finish all of this faster, Deimos? I am getting bored now." Ares, the second brother of mine, yawned while he sat on the chair which was placed beside mine. We might be fraternal triplets, but we don't have a single thing in common between us other than our green eyes. Where were all these elders when our pack was at its lowest? I hate to sacrifice for the sake of others and that's something that everybody knows in the Hunter Moon Pack. "You… you might be the next Alpha, but I am still the elder. Don't forget that you don't have enough time to remain in that position if you don't find your fated mate before your twentieth birthday. What if you fail to find her? What if…", before he could say any other word, I kicked his chair and he fell on the floor. Orion was lying on the floor and I then kept my shoes in his mouth, so that he could not run his trash like mouth. I tilted my head when he tried to say something. The discussion room was completely silent. My father's Beta, Andras Teivel, tried to stop me from hurting Orion. I showed him my index finger and he stopped in his tracks. I grabbed Orian by his tie and I then tightened the knot of his tie, which made him gasp for air. He was throwing away his hands and legs, yet I didn't stop from strangling him. I dragged him towards the window of the room and after pushing out half of his body outside, I grabbed him by the end of his tie. "The question is, will you die from this height? I mean, what if I lost my grasp on your tie? You might end up falling from the fourth floor. You shouldn't have brought up the topic of my mate." I whispered to him and the old bastard suddenly started to plead for me to forgive him. Both my brothers and I are waiting for our mate or mates even before our first shift. There might be a possibility that we might have to share our mate, as it's quite common amongst twins and triplets to have a single mate. "Don't… don't kill me. Forgive me… forgive me this once, Deimos. I was wrong. I accept my mistake." Orion stuttered and his body was shivering with fear when he said those words to me. I pulled him inside the room, but I didn't let go of his throat. He coughed out blood when I pushed his head against the wall, "Tsk, you ruined my favourite white shirt. It's stained with your blood now. As for forgiving you... Why would I? Deimos Maverick doesn't believe in forgiveness. The North belongs to me and you dared to question my authority. You wanted my forgiveness, right? Then let me ask you something. Umm, do you know which skill I am known for, huh?" "Poor oldie. He should have let me cut his tongue. At least that would hurt him less. Don't forget about the party, brother. We can't be late for our own party." Rowan was recording everything on his phone as he loved to post everything on his social account. "I asked you something, didn't I?" I tightened my grasp around his throat while I opened the buttons of the shirt with my other hand. I threw the blood-stained shirt on the floor and when Rowan put fire on the shirt, Orion started to shiver in fear. Does he think that Rowan might burn him next after my shirt? "Hu… hunting." He finally replied in a lower voice. A little more and he might lose consciousness. "Correct. So, let's hunt, shall we? But this time you are going to be my prey." I growled at him and when I let him go, he gazed at me with widened eyes. He took a good few seconds to register my words and after getting enough strength to get up on his feet, he dashed out of the room. The elders looked at each other and my father's Beta just rubbed his temple, "Your father won't be pleased with your behavior, Deimos." "Pleasing him is your job, not mine. Now, if you will excuse me, I have to do some hunting." I replied to the worried Beta and he just sighed before he took his leave. The other elders were looking here and there with scared expressions on their faces. "If someone wants to join Orion, then they are more than welcome. The more the merrier, right? But if you want to live your remaining years… which are already numbered, then you better not get in my way. Do you get it!" I said to them coldly. Some of them were too scared to even speak and some of them just gulped down hard. They all bowed their heads before taking their leave and my second brother just raised his head from the table with a bored look on his face. Before he could say anything to him, I received a message on my phone and when I read it, a smile appeared on my face, "Let's begin the hunt, brothers." I have waited for a long time and now I have finally got the chance to get rid of him. He shouldn't have betrayed me and my brothers. Now, I will make sure that he is going to pay a price that he won't be able to forget. At least not in this life. ~ Aylana's POV ~ The night sky always helps me to forget all my sufferings. However, the magic of the sky was not working on me today. "Are you done playing hide-n-seek? What's the point of hiding from me? Aren't we mates, bastard! I could smell you from miles away." He whispered in my ear and I just gasped in shock while my forehead was covered with sweat. How could he of all people call me by that name? Nathan grabbed me by my hair and he then dragged me to the ground. I tried to get out of his grasp but my little resistance didn't affect him that much. Instead, he was enjoying the way I was trying to save myself. Nathan stopped in his tracks and he then turned to look at me. His deep blue eyes were fixated on my lips, "You shouldn't have done this. You shouldn't have hit me… you shouldn't have run away from me and you should never have said that word to me. How dare a lowly omega like you to even think about rejecting me!" He growled at me while he kicked me hard around my chest. He then crouched down on the floor and before I could push him away, he grasped my jaw tightly with his other hand and I could clearly see wrath in his eyes. Did I hurt his little ego? How dare he question me after shamelessly playing with my feelings? "What happened? Should we continue where we left? Think about your mute mother, Aylana. It might be hard for me to forgive you but…" before he could complete his words, I pushed him away from me. "Forgive me? Forgive me for what? For doing nothing and blindly believing in someone like you? I was so stupid. I never really tried to know the reason behind the hatred of the pack members, but I would never have guessed it was because of you. It's over between us. What part of I reject you, you failed to understand?" I told him, but the shameless bastard tried to forcefully mark me. Why is he behaving like a dog in the heat? It's like he had lost his reasoning skills. Nathan grabbed me by the back of my neck and his eyes suddenly shone, which was enough to make me tremble in fear. His eyes were fixed on my neck, but before he could sink his teeth into my skin, someone hit him hard from behind and he just fell down on the ground in front of me. It was Hayley. She was holding a wooden log while my mother was standing with her. They were covered in sweat just like me. "Let's go. The Alpha has ordered the pack members to bring you and your mother to him. I heard him when he was discussing this plan with Luna. It's a good thing that I was able to trace your location with those heels of yours. The other pack members were discussing how they saw you getting out of Nathan's room and I thought that you might be hiding in this dark forest. Alpha is planning to sell you and aunt to some other pack. You need to get out of this sick pack and start a new life somewhere else. Wear these shoes and go to the North. I will take care of everything here." Hayley made me wear her shoes and I could see tears in her hazel eyes. Our shoe size might be the same, but how is she going to walk back without her shoes? "Why the North?" I asked her whilst I tightly held my mother's hand. "Happy Birthday, Aylana." Hayley gave me the letter which had the stamp of Silver Cross University, which is quite popular among the werewolves and only the influential and people with the higher positions in the pack get the chance to study there. I did secretly gave the scholarship test, but I didn't expect that I would get the admission. Nothing came out of my mouth when I read the letter. I got a full scholarship from one of the prominent universities. Hayley then gave me the backpack that she was carrying. "I have kept all the things that you might need on your journey and this is the money that I was saving for your wedding gift. Take care of yourself and aunt, alright? I will contact you once everything settles down here. It's a good thing that this jerk didn't see my face. You must hurry. The pack members must be coming this way to search for us." Hayley asked us to hurry up and she embraced us one last time. I would have asked her to come with us if I was even a little bit certain about my future. I don't want her to struggle with us. "Don't stop believing in the mate bond just because of this jerk, Aylana. I am certain that the moon goddess must have some sort of plans for you and you will surely find your true mate or who knows… even mates?" She teased me one last time and this time, I didn't roll my eyes at her, I simply smiled for her sake. "I am going to miss you." I embraced her tightly. "And I am going to miss you both. It was because of you and aunt that I got to know the real meaning of family. My parents always neglected me, but aunt Stella never forgot about me. I still remember how we cursed my first boyfriend together. Promise me that you will be stronger… stronger than this bastard and those people who looked down on you and thought that you were a loser. This is not a goodbye, but a new beginning for you." Hayley covered my shoulders with her jacket as my dress was torn and covered in blood. "Argh! Ay… Aylana!" Nathan grumbled and before he could gain consciousness, Hayley again hit him hard with the wooden log. "Go! I don't think that I might be able to stop this beast for too long." Hayley looked at me and my mother just kissed her forehead. I tightly held my mother's hand and, after looking one last time at my only friend, I just waved my hand at her and she did the same, while her eyes were filled with tears. "Don't forget. You have to become stronger, Aylana." Hayley asserted with tears in her eyes. I don't know a thing about the other packs. How am I going to survive with my mother in the North? No, I should have more confidence in myself. Never in my wildest dreams, I thought that I would be the one to reject my fated mate, yet here I am. Hayley is right. This is not a goodbye, but a new beginning. Well, I am not sure about the mate or mates thing, but I will certainly not let anybody look down on me again. I am not sure how far the north is from here, however, I can't stop now. My mother looked quite hesitant. It's like she doesn't want to go there, but we don't have a choice here. I can't let those people sell either of us. "Let's begin the hunt, brothers." I suddenly heard a deep voice and that voice was enough to send chills down my spine. What was that and who was that person? Is this all in my head or did I hear someone's voice just now? "Search every corner of the forest. I want Stella and Aylana in front of me." Alpha Jaycen growled. We need to get out of here before anybody can find us. Nothing could be worse than this place. The only choice that I have left now to survive with my mother is to go to the North. I will not give up... at least for the sake of my mother... I am not going to give up even though I don't have a mate... I am going to protect her and myself. If I have survived in that place, then I will surely survive in the North and I am not alone. Mate or no mate... I am going to live.
