Mate

~ Deimos POV ~ The girl with the golden eyes. I could feel that Trey was getting excited because of her, but I could still not smell her scent. I mean, that's the only way through which I could get to know if she is my mate or not. Who is she and what is she doing here? Normally, by now, I would have forced the person to spell the truth, but there is something different about this girl. The mere thought of hurting her is enough to make me lose my mind. I tucked away her hair strand behind her ear and that just made her gasp in shock. Is she scared of me? Did I do something that hurt her? Why did she shiver in fear when I touched her? "Save… please save me. I don't want to go back to that place. That man will beat me to death." She tightly clenched my shirt in her small fists and the desperation to survive was something that I could clearly see in her eyes. What exactly has she gone through in that packhouse that she is reacting in this way? Why could I not stand her tears? "Shush! Calm down. I won't allow anyone to even touch you. Nobody could forcefully take you away from this place. Nobody." I wiped away those tears which were making me angry. My brothers were shocked by my words. This is not how I behave in normal circumstances. How could someone who is not even my mate affect me so much? "Wow, I never thought that I would see my eldest brother talk in such a manner with any girl. He has always pushed away the girls who were not his fated mate." Rowan smiled when he gazed at Aylana. "Aylana." I mumbled to myself and she just looked at me with a confused expression on her face. I was not that loud. How was she able to hear me? Aylana's eyes were getting heavier, yet she still tried to remain in a conscious state. She tightly clenched her pendant and before I could ask anything from her, she lost consciousness. She was about to fall on the ground, but before anything could happen to her, I immediately wrapped my arms around her waist and pulled her towards me. Her bluish-black hair was covering her beautiful face. I have seen many she-wolves. However, I never came across someone like her. I won't lie, but when I looked into her golden eyes for a moment, I felt something that I had never felt in my life. After tucking away her hair, I carefully carried her in my arms. What the heck am I doing? "So, there is indeed a beauty who could warm the cold-hearted brother of mine, huh?" Ares walked towards me and I could see that even his eyes were fixated on Aylana. My pack members were already standing in front of me and they were bowing their heads in front of us. I could see Caleb and I was happy that his sister was not with him or she might have created a ruckus there. It's going to be a new day in a few hours. What exactly has she gone through? Her feet were bruised, her hands and arms were burned… even her dress was torn and covered in blood. She was abused in that packhouse. How dare they touch her! I slid my fingers on Aylana's face while I was carefully carrying her in my arms. "There are some intruders entering our borders thinking that there is no guard stationed at the border, but they forgot that the reason why the North doesn't have guards at the border was that nobody was courageous enough to step foot there, knowing that they might meet me or one of my brothers. Let's go. We should at least welcome our uninvited guests." I commanded my people and they just nodded their heads. If those people are the ones to hurt her, then they need to know the pain that she is going through because of them. I am not sure if this could lessen her pain, but at least this will satisfy her, right? "I have never seen you getting angry for someone else's sake, brother." Rowan sounded excited, as if he was trying to find that if I did finally find the one who would complete me. There's no time for me to think about that right now. If the Wind Winder Pack believes that they could face me in the fight, then how could I disappoint them? Ares was quite as usual, but why was he looking at Aylana with such a puzzled expression? It's like he has too many questions inside his head that are disturbing him. She is wearing too little in this cold weather and I doubt that she had her first shift. She might be as weak as any human girl. "Hold her for a second, Rowan." I said to my stupid brother as he was busy flirting with the other she-wolves of the pack. When exactly is he planning to grow up? He does say that he will change his ways once he finds his fated mate, but I doubt that. He carried Aylana in his arms as he couldn't refuse my orders. To everyone's surprise, I took off my shirt and covered Aylana's fragile body with it. I can stand this extreme cold, but I doubt that she could survive in the North for too long. After making her wear my shirt, I again carried her in my arms. What's this? Why am I doing things which I normally wouldn't have done for anybody? I have always learnt from Beta Andras that an Alpha should always snatch the things that he likes. Well, that was what he wanted me to do, but I am a little different than what he wanted me to become. My father hated the concept of a fated mate and he wanted to impose his same ideology on me. He even forced me to accept Eliza as my mate, but I refused to accept such a useless order. Tyler and I have waited for her for quite a long time and if I have to wait for her for some more, then I am ready for it. I was now not wearing a shirt and the snowfall was getting heavier. I embraced her a little, as I didn't want her to freeze to death. Her face has already turned pale and if she is so scared to face the guy, then I am certain that he must have tormented her a lot, but now I won't let her suffer. "Are you seriously going to fight with the neighboring pack because of a single she-wolf? No, wait. She is not even a she-wolf. She is just a wolfless girl. No, she is more like humans or maybe worse than them." Ares asked me while we were walking towards the border and I could see those bastards who were trying to intrude in my territory. I ignored Ares, as even I am not sure the reason behind my actions, so how could I reply to him? "Well, hello there. I don't remember inviting you guys, so what are you doing here on the day of your Alpha ceremony?" I asked him as I remembered that I also got the invitation from them. We might not share a cordial relationship, but Jaycen does know that he can't win against me, so he tries to join his hands with me by inviting me to his son's ceremony. The guy with deep blue eyes looked infuriated when he saw Aylana in my arms. He must be Nathan. "What is my mate doing in your arms? Give her back to me and I will go back to my pack without creating any ruckus here." The guy dared to command me and that just made me laugh. I might not be the Alpha, but I do have Alpha blood running in my veins. Does he think that he could order me around just because he got the position of the Alpha? I could tell by his aura that he had taken over and his father was no longer the Alpha. Why is he calling Aylana his mate? Why am I getting enraged at the fact that he actually might be telling the truth and what if Aylana is seriously his mate? "Ma… mate? I am no longer your mate, Nathan. Not now, not ever." I finally heard her sweet voice and the way she was trying to push Nathan away just by her words was something that I was seriously enjoying. As she was not fully conscious, she scratched the back of my neck and shoulder when she was trying to wrap her arms around my neck. I tried to share my body's warmth with her as she was shivering in the cold. I don't know what suddenly happened to her, but she started to gasp for air. It was like someone was strangling her in her dreams. Aylana started to cough and she was trying to remove the pendant that she was wearing, so I helped her to take it off, but I was not able to open it alone, so Ares and Rowan helped to take off the damn pendant and this time we were able to remove it together. The moment we took off the pendant there was something strange that happened to us. When I took a deep breath, I smelled something so serene and enticing that I wanted to mark her right here and now, but that was not something that I could do with someone who had already gone through a lot. The strangest thing about her scent was that it was not one or two, but she was oozing nine different scents. Lemon, orange, peppermint, lavender, guava, clearwood, jasmine, musk and cedar. It was not only arousing my wolf, but her scent was also making me feel at ease. I was not able to hold myself back anymore. "Mate." I said, but it was not just me but also my brothers. They were also holding her hands and when Aylana realized that she had not only one or two, but three mates, she gazed at us with widened eyes. "This can't be possible. You must be lying." Aylana mumbled to herself and I could tell that she was stunned and she didn't take this sudden news quite well. It's like she wanted to run away… run far away from us. "What the f**k are you saying? Give my mate back to me." Nathan rushed towards me with his wolf speed, but before he could touch Aylana, I kicked him hard around his groin and that just made him roll on the ground. Rowan and Ares stood in front of me and before anyone could approach me, they took care of them. We might take care of this, but how are we going to make her realize that it's not her, but us… who needs her? Those people have hurt her so much that it might be difficult for her to trust in any of us. I can't mark her without her consent and without her, I might lose everything. How am I going to make her believe in me and this bond that we share with each other?
