Episode 10

I stare at them seriously. I could see their hackles raised, them wanting to abscond the moment I said something ridiculous. Honestly, the little faith they had in me. 

“Let’s get a pet”

They relax but dash my hopes the next moment.

“Aren’t you like very busy right now? You can’t afford to take care of a pet right now” Max says.

“Besides, if you don’t see something for a long time, you forget about it. You’re not mature enough to take care of a pet” Kevin adds, resting his legs on Max’s knees. Max glares but doesn’t say anything. One year and they’re used to each other. 

“B-B-But I want a little kitty and a puppy” I pout, trying to move them but no, they’re adamant. I hated when they were inflexible. Then, they were worse than my parents. 

“Where is this need for a pet coming from anyway? You have us to keep you company, don’t you?” Kevin asks, staring at me. 

“Bu the house feels empty with just us three!”

“Isn’t the right word kid instead of a pet?” Max says, confused.

“They’re basically the same but the responsibilities of a pet are a bit lower than a kid’s. Besides, I’m tired of staring at all your faces”

“In that case, why not get someone to live with us? Max can have company and we’ll have company”

“Somehow Kevin, that sounded much worse than May’s pet idea. I’m fine alone. If there was another person here, it would freak me out” Max complained.

“So, a kitten then?”

“Maybe not right now. Let’s take our time to think about this and talk about this another day” he cuts me off. I pout but nod anyway. 

“Guys, I have something to tell you” Kevin said nervously. Max looked like he wanted to make a joke but stopped because he had never seen Kevin genuinely nervous before. 

“What is it?” 

“Last time I went to my sister’s house, she said she was taking a long vacation with her husband so they wanted us to watch over my niece and nephews for a while. I-Is that okay?” We look at each other and take a while to respond. I have a younger sister and Max was an only child so while I have a little experience, Max has none.

“It’s just making a few extra lunch boxes and taking care of a few kids right? I think I can manage”

“Aside from that, what about their school? How would they go to school?”

“She said she would arrange that. Are you guys really okay with this?”

“You think May would be able to keep her voice down?” Max suddenly said. I had a really bad feeling so I tried to escape. Yeah, you shouldn’t do that when you have two boyfriends bigger and taller than you.
