{Warning: Language} We go out all the time. I don’t like leaving the house and neither do hey but for some reason, when May wants to go out, she drags Kevin and me along. Before that, she confirms if I have nothing to do and happily drags us out.  On a particularly fine afternoon, we went into a store. Kevin and I were wearing matching grey hoodies like we often do for some reason, and May wears a grey top to match. We smile and watch her hum as she browses through the clothes, looking for both hers and ours.  “You wanna get something?” Kevin asks. I shake my head and he nods, following May. she drags him around the store for about an hour till she is done. There was a satisfied smile on her face when we reached the cashiers. It all went downhill from there.  May hangs on my neck and we both bum out as Kevin lines up and processes the p*****t. We noticed the cashier looking at us funny and we shrugged. It was easy for us to get strange looks when we went out. Most people just pass it off as us being a weirdly close friend group. They can never understand.  “.......If you’re not going to say it, I am” one of the white cashier girls say. She looks at us and smiles, giving May a dirty look. At this point, we’re all confused.  “Don’t you feel ashamed? People didn't fight for lgbt+ rights for you to be doing this s**t!” “Excuse me? Is there a problem?” May asks politely, albeit confused.  “The desperation I feel from you is extraordinary. You’ve been hanging around this couple for quite a while now, trying to separate them and now, only heaven knows what you did to them to make them pay for you. Looking at you, trying to match their outfit with his pitiful attempt. Aren’t you ashamed?!”  At this point, we can get the commotion and we are not impressed. May utters a single oh and slides her hand off my neck. I could feel the anger rolling off Kevin and even I was annoyed too. The b***h didn’t even know what she was talking about.  “May, should we leave?” I ask her gently, in spite of my anger. The pay process stopped just as Kevin was about to pay so we could just leave without losing anything. Maybe the cashier thought she was trying to save us money. She didn’t know that if May asked us to empty our bank accounts, we would do it in a heartbeat.  “No, let’s pay. I finally got matching hoodies for you two after a while and I want to buy them. Kevin, please pay” her voice was quiet and it cracked with emotions. She couldn’t even get angry since the situation was what it was.  “No. May, I’m not going to stand here and watch you get insulted. Besides, when was the last time you called me Kevin?” Kevin was usually peaceful but once he got angry, it was quite a sight to see.  “Max, pay. I’ll be waiting in the parking lot” She turns around and leaves. The whole store is confused and quiet as we pay and leave. She’s seated in the backseat, just staring blankly into space. We drop her things and hug her.  “Did I…..do something wrong?” “No May. You did absolutely nothing wrong. You are perfect and we love you from the depths of our heart” The choked sob that comes out from her throat shatters our heart. How dare they hurt our baby?
