Chapter 5

Coin toss was something she loved as a child. Erm she still loves. And sadly enough she takes pride in that stupid thing. It was a thing between her grandfather and her. He taught her that. She is so proud of that stupid trick for some reason. Okay for only one reason. She always won. It's not possible. But it was while she was playing with her grandfather she always won. Maybe he cheated while he was tossing the coin. Who knows. But the thing is that win made her too cocky and confident. More like overconfident. And they are both extremely dangerous combination. "Well well well what have we got here" Tylor smirked as the cold metal touched the back of her hand. She did not flinch. It was like a slap to her first victory. Maybe she should played by rules instead of being know it all and arrogant. That was his role. "You won dickhead. Now choose." She gritted. For the first time she didn't feel bad for cussing. "Woah now! No need to be riled up." He grinned. And she wanted to punch that stupid face. Stupid handsome face. Always irritating and annoying her. "Just pick." She frustratedly groaned. "Only because you insisted." She rolled her eyes at his tone. Seriously there should be a law that one murder is okay to get away. Like there are some gory criminals out there but she wants this law for her. She shook her head. Her thoughts are getting hazy and weird. Thanks to him. "I pick you to handle the sound team. They love you." He flashed his pearly whites and pulled the notepad from her. They hated her. The sound team. They think that she's the most unprofessional person to ever exist. Yeah one time you ask someone to take your bag to class and you are termed unprofessional. Oof the drama. And also the sound team members are no treat either. They are the most reckless, i***t group. They actually increased the frequency of mic during the Principal speech causing the buzz sound to echo throughout the auditorium which left everyone in the room to erupt in laughter. They did it on purpose she was so sure. "You know I can change them right. They are not the only ones in town." She retorted with a weak smile. "You always know how to make me laugh." He chuckled, the rich laughter boomed through the hallway and pierced her ears like a taunt. "What's so funny about it? I would love to know." "Anna they have been working for this school since I don't know how many years but yeah. And you are going to bring someone else? Besides who'll be available on such a short notice? And we have a budget remember?" She hated it when he made valid points. It was true. Like all of his points. The sound team was the oldest, hell they might have designed the auditorium sound system. But they were so rude to her. Anyways she needs to get them to work. Yeah she'll have to handle it. "I hate it when you're right." "The feeling is mutual." After that they tossed in silence and decided their tasks easily. She was impatient to get back home because let's be honest she can't survive his company any more. Also because he was being so annoying by tapping his feet continuously like someone deprived and nervous. "It's finally done." She sighed as she observed all the tick marks on the notepad. It would have been completed hour ago only if they both weren't being difficult. But ah. "Also please don't extend the budget this time. If that orchids are expensive let them be. Get something cheap." "Anna how about you cut some s**t from your budget? The Queen is not coming to our function so English tea and finger sandwiches are not necessary." He retorted. Her cheeks reddened. It was not her fault that she liked eating posh things. It was her parents and those stupid princess shows she used to watch with her sister. Also they are so elegant and sophisticated food. Tylor would never understand. Besides he himself said that the school teachers are sort of high maintenance. "I did not pick those for lunch." She avoided looking into his eyes and packing her notepad and all her remaining things. "You mean your lunch ideas which are written in your notepad are for another party? " She could hear smirk into his tone. That cocky I know it voice. It annoyed her. "Yes. It's for uh... uh another party that I am throwing for my friends." She lied and stood up from her seat. "Anna?" She turned around when she heard her name being called. "Huh. Hi" She squeaked looking at the older woman in front of her. She had a apron around her and she was holding what looked like a spatula in her hand and her hips c****d at side with other hand resting on her waist. She had few bangs fanning her face while her hair were swirled in a messy bun. Her skin had worry lines but the crinkles by her eyes distracted her from those. "Would you like le cena? Tylor cheidile questo. Dinner?" The woman looked back at Tylor and signalled something. Tylor seemed perked at that. But Anna didn't notice his reaction as she was still stunned at her thick Italian accent. Her tone was thick but beautifully pleasant. "Anna this is our housekeeper Gloria. She is asking you to stay for dinner." Tylor mumbled. "Grazie Gloria. Kind of you but Devo Andare. Ciao." She answered trying to sound as human as possible. "Cara parli Italian?" Gloria brightened at her use of language. She finds English a bit difficult even though she has been staying here for five years. It was a confusing language. "Si. Yes I learned it last year. Non bene but I provo" Anna blushed. She doesn't speak fluent per say because she got only upto Intermediate level. And often she practices so there's that. Tylor looked stunned at that. He knew she took Italian last year and she aced it but he thought she was well... Beginner and didn't know much. She actually never fails to impress him huh. "Nonsense. Parli Bene" Gloria waved her hand. She was glad that there was no sauce on that spatula. "Thanks. Addio signora." Anna ducked out of there but she could hear faint laughter of Gloria along with something similar to silly child and come back soon. She would loved to have a chat with Gloria but definitely not when Tylor is here. He was standing there like a motionless i***t with his mouth agape. Somethings definitely up with him. "So... I'll see you in school." She said as she neared her car. Tylor was standing near the doorstep with his arms crossed and leaning against the wall. He nodded still not talking. "Anna?" He called out as she was about to step in. "Hmm?" "Has somebody ever told you that you're a s**t liar?" She knew what he was talking about. Their conversation about tea party was interrupted by Gloria to which she was thankful about but this. She didn't want to talk about it. She was actually planning tea and sandwiches for teachers and she thought it was a good idea. "No and I am a good liar. Thank you very much." She huffed and he actually shook his head. Why did she look so endearing doing that? And why did he even think about the word endearing? "Whatever floats your boat babe." "You're so annoying. Bye." She shut the door of the car not even bothering to hear his response and drove away. Ugh she's never coming back again. That stupid correct and know it all Tylor. Stupid smirk. Stupid face. But his sister was cute. Oh Lola was a treat and so so pretty. Alas she's his sister. *** Anna sighed as she looked around the empty hallways. She hated coming back to the empty house. It was so cold and unwelcoming. She glanced at her watch. It was seven. She had to write her blog, make dinner, do her homework and make calls for that teacher's day. A long night was ahead of her. As if on cue her stomach rumbled. She thought about her last meal and it was that cafeteria food. She could have had Gloria's food. The dinner smelled so amazing. She walked towards the refrigerator and looked at all the items inside. Bread was the only thing that sounded good at the moment. She picked the bread and applied some garlic butter and sprinkled some peeper on top, because it's her signature style and then tossed it in the oven. She set the timer and turn towards heating some water for soup. If she was going to get through this night, atleast she must have a content meal. After setting the vessel of water to heat she proceeded to chop some cloves and cilantro. That's when her phone rang. "Hi police precinct? I'm sorry but can I please talk to my friend Anna. I believe she's in felony for killing Tylor Russo." Anna released a sigh. "Not funny Violet." violet laughed as if it was the funniest thing ever. "What? I thought you did kill him because you seemed very perky in the morning. Ready for vengeance." "And I'm hanging up." "No no. Okay seriously what's up?" "I just got back from Tylor. No one were harmed." Anna ignored the I don't believe it comment from Violet and continued, "I am just making dinner for myself." "Sounds fun. Do you mind if I crash? I'm bored and I honestly can't take my parent's s**t now." "You don't even have to ask. Also pick some snacks on the way. I only have kit kat bar which is mine." Anna said while balancing her phone between ear and shoulder and continued chopping. "Okay. I'll see you in five" "Yo sure." Anna hung up and got back to making dinner. She knew that Violet definitely won't mind eating so she added extra water. Also if there's some left she can eat that tomorrow. She felt bad for Violet because she was treated like a extra responsibility by her parents. She was always getting s**t for things she didn't even do. And so she became more rebellious. It was so hurtful to watch her transform from sweet shy tween to a rebellious teen. She used to be so meek and shy in middle school but now she's exact opposite and for that Anna is a bit thankful. Violet doesn't bully anyone. Instead she helps them because she knows what's it like to be one of them and Anna can never relate to Violet, like personality wise because she believes that she didn't have to act rebellious or something because her parents didn't even care about it. They were too busy to even notice change in her. But one thing is they actually talk to her and try to have atleast one meal together. A rule they made before she was even born. She can't complain. They have to work to earn and provide for her and her siblings. So it was fine. Besides she gets to see them in morning. That's enough. She startles hearing the boiling of water. Quickly she adds all the ingredients and starts swirling them together. Trying to avoid them getting into lumps. Just then she hears the ringing of doorbell. Turning off the heat she rushes towards the main door. Opening the door she smiles. Violet gives her a hug and walk inside. "Whatever it is it smells amazing." Anna laughs as Violet sniffs louder trying to guess. "It is Mix vegetable soup." "Please tell me you have bread with it." Violet groans walking towards the kitchen. "Yes garlic bread in the oven." "Thank God. And hey I bought these." Violet tumbles with her bag chain for a while and tosses m and ms and chips along with a Ben and jerry vanilla ice cream. "Vi I love you." Anna grins taking all those like a excited child on a Christmas receiving his gifts. "We been knew." "And she starts with the twitter language again." "Hey! Don't make fun of me. You introduced me to it." Violet pouts and settle in one of the chairs in kitchen. "Yeah for following your celebrity crush there not to get addicted to it." "Can you blame me? Hello!" Violet motioned to herself and Anna rolled her eyes. She then opened the fridge and threw the ice cream tub inside. She knew for a fact that Violet didn't like Vanilla. It was her least favourite flavour but she tolerated it because of her. "You are rights. It's you I should have seen that coming." "You are brutal." And that was that. After that they had a dinner with garlic bread slightly burned at edges because they were too busy in fighting to notice the oven and a bland soup because Anna forgot to add pepper. It was all good. ***
