Chapter Five
Blake was on the phone with me from Minneapolis every day wondering when I’d be home. It never occurred to me to tell him that I wasn’t coming back. I suppose because I wasn’t yet ready to admit that our relationship had hit such a major stumbling block that I had little interest anymore. It was much easier for me to delve into the restoration of the property I’d inherited. The project here excited me and Minneapolis no longer held any allure, especially when it meant facing my long time boyfriend with the truth. After seven years together, I’m not sure he was anymore committed to our relationship than I was. But the thought of my leaving him was a bit much for his ego. And then, there was all that money I’d inherited. I’m sure he had his eyes on that too.
