CHAPTER 5: VAMPIRES FOLLOWED ME

There are no half-vampire and friends in our last class today. They are probably still hunting the killer and can't believe in what happened to their friends.
They are evil. They kill people. Why do they have to do that? They can drink blood from humans and then release the victims, or take some from the blood bank. There is a strategy to get food without hurting anyone. My Dad became a human doctor and gets blood donation campaigns to get supplies. It's better than hunting and killing people.
The whole class ended when I did not hear what our professor said. My mind was still floating towards the forest. I wonder what's happening there now. It's 7 o'clock in the evening. The greedy bloodsuckers most likely will swarm again to hunt victims. I need to hurry home to get ready for our vampire stake out tonight. Martha and I don't need to go farther, we already have some rogue vampires around our area, and they are with accompanied by a half-blood.
I drove my car to get home immediately. I was busy driving when I saw a glimpse from the side mirror of something, or someone rather, following me. The vampire who's following me was quick but he could not escape my sight. He's running and jumping in the trees that line at the side of the highway. I sharpened my eyes and used my vampire ability. Not just one, but two vampires are following me!
Is that Justin? Do they suspect me? They can't follow me to the house because they will see Uncle Fernand. They will know I have a connection to vampires. He is the only legal in SAC. Dad and Martha are also not recorded as vampires. I have to mislead them. I switched the car gear towards expressway. I'm planning to head to my condo in the city. I don't know the reason why they follow me, but I am more intelligent than them. I was able to drive far away from them but they still managed to follow.
I won't give up. I'll give them a pretty good fight if I have to. My sports car is also fast though, it can keep up with the vampires.
There is not much traffic in the city at night. I peeked in the side mirror for a moment. They were still there, following me. What do they want from me?
I entered the car in the basement of the condominium and parked near the elevator. I got out of the car and walked calmly, even though inside I was nervous and my knees are trembling. I will still have to deal with an ancient vampire. Has my identity been revealed or will it be revealed now? My world will change once my being half-blood is exposed. I will fight them and give them a beating! I will make sure they're dead, so that my secret will not come out.
I pressed the button. The elevator opened immediately, then I entered calmly. I hit the 10th floor. The elevator was about to close when a woman chased after me to get in so I stopped the door from closing, she smiled at me and thanked me. She hits the 5th floor.
The elevator is about to close again when someone stopped it. I saw in the corner of my eyes it was Justin, his ancient vampire friend Vlad was behind him. I did not raise my head, pretending I was busy with my phone.
Are they following me? No way!
Although I was nervous, I tried to calm down, but I was worried about the woman we were riding with. I will have a hard time fighting a half-vampire and an ancient vampire in this very tight place. The elevator door closed. I noticed Vlad had no reflection in the mirrored elevator on either side. Fortunately, the woman was also busy pressing her phone, she could not see that the guy has no reflection. I also pretended I am busy digging into my phone. The woman went out to the 5th floor. "Why does the elevator seem so slow?"
My vampire companions in the elevator were silent. I made sure my mind was closed and couldn't be read by vampires with such ability. Most ancient vampires are mind readers, which I have not acquired yet. My hidden ability is power absorption, and I haven't encountered vampires with such ability to absorb it.
I was about to leave the elevator when someone called my name. "Vanessa."
I turned to him. I pretend to be surprised. "Justin? Are you living here?" I asked him lightly.
"Yes, we are in the elevator together, but you are quite busy with your phone. What a small world isn't it? We live in the same building." He smiled at me.
I smiled innocently. "Ahhhh, you were with me in the elevator. You also live on the 10th floor?"
"Yes," he replied with a frugal answer.
"I see, all right." I gestured that I was leaving with my hand holding the phone. I walked toward the end of the hallway while grasping the key inside my shoulder bag. It's good that I always carry it.
I tried not to tremble as I opened the door. Finally, I was able to open it without a shiver. The ancient vampire is still with him, I can feel he's looking at me. He is so scary.
I entered my unit without looking at them again, then I immediately closed the door. I ran to the sofa, then took out the phone. I can't call my family, Justin and Vlad can hear me. I texted Martha.
"I'm here in the condo unit. Come here and fetch me now."
Martha replied after a few minutes. I opened her message right away. "Why are you there? Then you used text messaging, really? When did you like to text?"
I typed faster than the normal speed. My phone can't even catch up. "Vamps followed me. Need to come here. One is ancient vamp. Come over here using Uncle Fernand's teleport ability, be careful not to be noticed. NOW!"
Martha did not reply. She later popped into the living room of the condo, along with uncle Fernand. Another power that I do not have: teleportation, which is rare for a vampire to acquire. It's annoying and I envy Uncle Fernand. That power is more beneficial to me. I will really look for a vampire with that power and absorb it.
