CHAPTER 9: THE BURNING SENSATION

Professor Louie, Dad, Martha and Uncle Fernand are in the living room while I and Anna are in the garden. "Did you also go to school as a student just for hunting vampires?" Anna asked curiously.
I nodded. "It seems like that. It's boring if I don't do anything during the day aside from studying." Hesitantly, I thought of asking the question I wanted to ask earlier. "How did you meet Louie? Have you been together for a long time? Why did you hunt, rather than killing people? I mean, it's normal for vampires to crave for blood. "
Anna laughed. "You have a lot of questions, but I'll answer all of those. He saved me from the group of vampires who tried to kill everyone in our village. Yes, literally our entire village in San Simon. It's been 100 years since it happened. I was also dying back then, so he gave me his blood to convert me into a vampire. I wanted to. I smiled sweetly. Just mentioning the name of Martha always makes me smile. "I feel like she's my mom, aunt, sister, friend. That's all. Like Louie in what he did to you, my mom saved her and since then, we've been with her."
Her face seemed to light up a bit. "D-does she have a relationship with your Uncle Fernand?"

Anna seemed looked paler. "W-what are you talking about? We just met today."
I tapped her on the shoulder. "Gosh, it's okay! That would be perfect for Uncle Fernan! He is just busy in finding my mom's killer. I am rooting for you."
Anna was cupped her both cheeks. Just now I saw a vampire so thrilled because of having a crush! "I thought you and Professor Louie had a relationship." Ooops, what was I thinking about?
"Oh, nothing. He's like a father to me. Even though my Dad is gone, I felt I have a father beside me. Louie took care of me. He is 1,500 years old. Look at his eyes." Anna still seemed surprised.
"He's handsome even for his age. He looks 25 years old. He's even more handsome than the ancient vampire you faced earlier."
Anna's eyes became bigger as she looked at me. "Oh my, you like Louie?!"
I don't know how red my cheeks now, but both are getting hot. "No!" I strongly denied it, but I think I said it in a wrong way. My tone is defensive.
Anna shivered as if urinating and she jumped while clapping. "Gosh! You two will make a perfect couple, I swear!" she screamed.
I immediately covered her mouth using my left hand, and hugged her waist using my right arm. "Shh! Don't make any noise, it's embarrassing! I just said he's handsome, that's it!" Her eyes are still widened as I am still covering her mouth. I nodded as a sign I will remove my hand.
I removed my hand slowly after making sure she will not scream again. "Yes, I will not make any more noise, but you have to admit. You are attracted to Louie, right?"
"He's handsome. That's all." I was trying to convince her, or probably myself.
Anna placed her right arm on my shoulder. "You know, courting and getting to know each other is not a vampire trend. Once we felt that strong feeling, we go for it without hesitation. Our vampire blood is like a boiling water inside if we won't give in to the whims of the body. We will feel the burning sensation. When we want someone no matter who that person is, we will do our best to get him or her."
So maybe the vampire who abused my grandmother felt that burning sensation from his blood, and took advantage of her. "But I'm only half." My tone is confused. I am also not sure of my excuse.
"That's why you are like that. Half of you is shouting and telling you to grab him, while your human side is telling you to back out and take it slow. Imagine, 2 different strong emotions towards one person are fighting inside you. I can feel your turmoil. I'm an Empath."
"But why do Daddy and Martha seemed reluctant? Then uncle Fernand has never liked any vampire. He has never coveted anything."
"I heard what Martha said earlier to Louie. You have a perfect half-blood, and the two of them sucked almost all your blood when you were just a baby to turn you into a vampire. Most likely some part of their body system were twisted by your blood. Your Dad probably already tasted your blood, too. " Anna laughed again. "Don't change the subject. You like him, so go for it. No stupid vampire would say no to you."
I looked at Anna's beautiful face. "Why do I feel so comfortable with you? I'm comfortable talking to you."
Anna shrugged. "No idea. The funny thing is, I feel the same way to you. We can't be soulmates because I don't have a soul anymore." She laughed at the same time with me.
"You're really crazy..." I stopped because I missed something. "Can they hear what we were talking about? It's embarrassing for Louie and then for Uncle Fernand." I whispered to Anna.
Anna covered her mouth. "Oh my..."
"Ladies." We were surprised by the voice who called us. It was Louie.
Seriously, he was really hot as he walked towards us. I felt what Anna just said, my blood is as if like a boiling water inside me. I clung so tightly to Anna. I'm sure she still understands me. I'm still half-human and still knows how to be shy.
"Yes, Louie?" Anna answered. She's a life saver! I so love her now. I looked at his back, it was Uncle Fernand.
"W-what's up?" Anna asked.
"You will be under the protection of Louie," Uncle Fernand said to me. "That half-vampire seems after you."
I was stunned. What? So I will always be with Louie? No! I might die of a heart attack so early! Anna looked at me.
"That half-vampire is always around you?!" Anna excalimed.
I just nodded but I frowned because of confusion.
Anna seems to understand that I am asking what is surprising for a hald-vampire to always follow he. "He likes you. Like what we've talked about earlier. When you want someone, you take it. He must've felt the same way to you as what you are feeling to..."
"Hold on a minute..." I stopped Anna before saying the name of Louie.
"What?! You also like that half-vampire?" Louie asked. He seemed unhappy with what he heard. Why does Louie's tone sound so angry?
"Hey, no way! I don't."
"What does Anna mean that you have the same feelings?" His forehead furrowed.
It was as if I wanted to sink into my position. I turned to Anna. I am asking for help.
"Whenever she sees her crush, she shudders as if she's on fire. You know... you know the feeling of a vampire when he or she wanted someone," Anna said as an excuse. I thanked her silently, she nodded in reply.
"Who is that crush of yours?" It was as if his jaws were rubbing. He was angry. He's acting like a father preaching to his child.
"That man... t-that man is an ordinary human. But he ignores me." I want to stay away from him. I am having a difficulty in breathing.
"Stay away from that person whoever he is. He won't be able to get close to you while I'm around," he spoke loudly.
My phone suddenly rang. I only saw unregistered number. Who will call me at this hour? "Hello?"
"Hi. This is Jeric, your classmate. I got your number from Sir Santos. It's because we haven't done anything yet for our filming project."
I suddenly remember him. "Ah, yeah, Jeric. Yes I remember. Yes indeed. How are we going to do the commercial? I can't find our groupmates," I replied, Justin was the one I was referring to.
"There is another group that dropped two of their members, maybe you just want us to move to their group so we can do something. We can't wait for the others. I can't fail my subject. I'm just under the scholarship program," Jeric offered me.
"Oh, all right. When will you start doing commercials?" I can get away from Justin. I am also pretty sure his group won't return to the school anymore.
"It looks like they will start tomorrow. It looks like the leader will shoot at their house."
"Okay, all right. I'll be there tomorrow after our classes. I'll save your number. Bye." I turned off the phone.
I saw a dark face as I raised my head. Louie frowning. "It was Jeric. My classmate. We have a group project." Louie didn't say a word then he turned around and walked away.
"Anna, you and Louie will live here from now on, for us to work together on our mission," Uncle Fernand said. He was staring at Anna while waiting for her answer.
"T-thank you." I wanted to laugh out loud. I pulled Anna by her hand to show her bedroom.
"Come on. You're about to look like a bond paper," I teased her.
Anna glared at me. There will be a lot of changes in my life starting today. It looks like it will be more colorful from now on. The mansion is happier because we have more people joining our family.
