Chapter 5 - Present - Joseph
As the days went by, and the Alphas' trip approached, Kristian could see Samuel's growing anxiety about having to be there without them. He knew the Wizard's uncertainties about the Pack, even though his father and he already lived in there for almost six months, sometimes the Hybrid man doubted if he was truly welcome in their lands.
And besides this, no one even imagined how he was jealous of the connection that the dark-haired Alpha had with Kris.
... Some things were better like this, kept in secret...
Sam's big distractions in the last few days were the two little she-wolves who ran after him for attention when they saw him, also like him, they lived in the Pack's house too. Kristian's father had stayed in Nightvaley since the day he found about what happened to his son.
That news had broken everyone's heart, Dahlia no longer wanting to leave her brother's side, even if her visits were restricted as she was just a child, an Omega, and her body more sensitive to disease than adults...
Caleb and Amelia have only left the land for three days since then, to sort out the real things that were moving back and relocating, leaving the little girl with Elizabeth, who could see with pain the traits that Kris had inherited from his father in Dahlia.
However, this was over a year ago, everyone was happy now that the second Alpha was well and healthy, including his sister who loved her new role as little Summer's aunt, protectively following her as an older sister would normally do when the youngest girl would go run after the Wizard in the moments that she wasn't clinging to her parents.
"Do you think they gonna be ok?" The alpha asked, looking out the window, watching his daughter play happily in midair while Samuel believed no one could see them in between the woods.
"Which one? Sam or Summer?" Kristian asked him back, hugging him from behind, placing the chin on his Mate's shoulder.
A faint smile gracing his face as he saw the joy on the Wizard's face, he believed that the man who was only a few years older than them should have been the one who suffered the most at the witch's hands than any other victim of hers.
... Fortunately, thanks to Harley, they didn't need to worry about Summer's scars for now...
"Sam, you know we don't have to worry about Summer for now," The Alphas couple's biggest concern about their daughter was that one day the spell would pass, and she would remember everything about her biological parents' death. Besides the fact that even before this, she could start asking questions about them as she starts to grow up. "Although this is the first time we'll both be away at the same time without her, I'm sure our parents will distract her perfectly with Dahlia."
"Who would think my sister would love the role of aunt this much? I didn't for sure." With their position reversed now, Kristian asked. It wasn't a secret that the puppy wanted a baby brother or sister. "But about Sam... I hope so, he's getting pretty well with everyone, including the twins, I just wanted him to let Elder Alpha help him too."
"Do you think it's true? That he is grampa's mate." For the first time, Jack mentioned what he wanted to ask his Mate for a while.
"It's clear that he doesn't think so, but do you think your grandfather could lie about something like that?" The relationship about the two men was yet a mystery to everyone, even Harley, Andrés, and the Hybrids couldn't tell who was right about this story.
"I don't think so... Even if it was a surprise when he changed back to his young appearance without telling anyone, I doubt he would do anything like that if he wasn't sure about how his feelings." The Alpha spoke, looking into his Mate's hazel eyes.
"Like you, I think in the same way, this is the reason why I believe it would be easy for Samuel if he had his help."
... More than anyone else, they knew how misunderstandings could get in the way of new changes in one's life...

Suitcases being placed in the car in front of the Pack's house, cries and shouts of a little one prevented the others from talking to them as her little hands bravely grabbed the shirt of Jack and Kristian who had her in his lap.
Sadness on my grandson's and his Mate's face, both evidently, rethinking the idea about their trip since this was the first time they'd been away from Summer at the same time.
... It was interesting to see how the half-human, half-werewolf, little girl had adopted them so quickly as her new parents, everything reminding me of my own experience with Penelope, even if she was a few years old than Summer back then...
"C'mon, Summer. You have to let them go, or your parents will miss the plane." I smell his wonderful scent before hearing his sweet voice, talking to my great-granddaughter, who didn't like the idea of being left here for sure.
"No! No! No!" Despite my Mate's words, Summer continued to cry on her father's arms, proving to anyone present there that the little she-wolf was more attached to my grandson and his other half than we thought. "I want to go with Papi and Dad too!"
"So, you don't want a little brother or sister?" Samuel asked her, piquing the little girl's curiosity while the Alpha's couple's face flushed.
"Don't talk nonsense, Samuel!" Kris spoke, slapping his shoulder, yet the Wizard kept his conversation with my great-granddaughter going on without caring, ignoring the couple.
"I want a little sister! A little sister!" Summer's answer was enough to make everyone laugh, but I don't doubt that Sam could easily fulfill her wish if he could master his powers.
Harley and Andrés once told me that the only thing Witches couldn't work with was death, as no one could change this fate, but besides this, nothing was impossible to them as they became more powerful with age, especially those who were Ancestral Witches.
... Like the one from whom Samuel had inherited all the powers...
"As funny as this is, you really gonna miss the flight at this rate." My daughter said, taking Summer into her arms. "And Sweet, I'm sure that in a few years from now, you'll have siblings, but they won't be born from any trip that your parents do, okay?"
The little three-year-old girl only nodded, although I was sure she didn't understand anything from her grandmother's words, even if it had finally allowed her parents to go on their trip, without imagining what would soon happen on the Pack's lands...
