Chapter Eleven

Dillon She was giggling like a mad person, her head thrown back , cheeks flushed with her arms tight around herself as she held her ribs. “She’s Lost it” Sebastian’s voice was concerned. “Just give her a second , she will calm down” Miles sounded hopefully. “And if she doesn’t then my circle would be best for her. It’s by far the most soothing” I ground my teeth. Of course he would think that. Of course he would try and get her into his lazy grasp as quickly as he could. Voices rose, each one arguing on where Faith should spend her time. Getting louder and louder by the second and all the while Faith kept giggling. Tears running down her pale cheeks. Rolling my eyes at their immature behaviour I reached for her hand. “Faith?” Watery eyes met mine without hesitation. “You doing ok?” It was a stupid question , a mundane question but it seemed to calm her. She sucked in a breath and the laughter died on her lips. “This for real?” I nodded once, I liked that her fingers curled around mine and I gave her hand a squeeze. No one noticed they were all too busy arguing amongst themselves. “Would you like to get out of here? A bath? Fresh clothes? Maybe some food?” “Yes” Her voice was tiny , unsure and something stabbed me in the chest. Guilt? Was that what I was feeling? It was an unusual feeling and not one I particularly liked. Seemed kind of redundant. “I don’t …” I could see the hysteria bubbling up. “You are safe with me Faith, you are safe here” I didn’t let go of her hand and I stared into her eyes. “What…” “What sin am I?” I smiled at her, giving her my wisest smile. The one that had woman falling at my feet anytime we were on earth. “Greed Faith, I am the sin of greed” “Greed” She was beginning to lose it again. “And that makes me the safest option for you right now. I am a greedy man Faith” I tugged on her hand , and it was only when she gained her feet that my brothers around the table fell silent. Six pairs of eyes narrowed. “How does that make me safe?” “I covet what is mine, and you are the most precious jewel in this dimension. I won’t let anything happen to you” I brought her hand to my lips. “I have never and will never lie to you , not like …” I motioned with my head to the men sat around the table. Their faces twisted with rage. “Get off of her Dillon” “Where do you think you are taking her?” Voices rose in anger again and I rolled my eyes causing the corners of her lips to lift in a small smile. “You don’t get to take her anywhere” Hunters voice was dripping with a barely veiled concealed threat. “I…” I turned to him with a snarl. “She is” “I want to stay with Dillon” Her voice caused everyone around the table to slap their lips together in shock. “Faith” Sebastian’s voice was sharp and I felt her flinch back. I didn’t even bother to hide my grin. My brothers were making it to easy. “I want to stay with Dillon” She repeated more forcibly. “You will need to spend time with each of us , otherwise it isn’t fair” Miles voice had lost its laid back cadence. Faiths grunted. “Fair? Nothing that is happening is fair” she sucked in a calming breath. “Dillon can…” “Let’s feed you Faith” I tugged her hand into the crook of my arm, throwing my brothers a gloating look. “Decide the order amongst yourselves. I am going to make my beautiful guest more at ease” I winked shamelessly at their stunned faces.
