The library

Nora's POV ''Hope you understand what I'm saying to you.'' She spoke firmly and got a nod from me. ''Don't get scared. She is only trying to scare you.'' Lolita encouraged me, ''She shouldn't bother; it wasn't work,'' I told Lolita while holding the gaze of the head maiden. ''You can call me Lady Emma or just Emma'' She said, standing to her feet while I did the same. ''Come with me. I'll show you the library,'' She said and led the way while I followed behind. I followed her and climbed the stairs until we got to the third floor. She walked through the hallway and stopped in a room with a black door. She took a key from the bunch of keys hung on her waist and inserted it in the door's lock. With a click, the door opened, and we both walked in. As I stepped in, I closed the door behind me and moved my gaze around the gigantic library. I did not expect a home library to be this big and filled with books. The library was a grand room with rows and rows of shelves, each filled to the brim with books of all shapes and sizes. The shelves themselves were ornate and looked like they belonged at a different time, with intricate carvings and details etched into the wood. As I walked through the aisles of the library, I couldn't help but marvel at the sheer number of books that lined the shelves. On one shelf, there were leather-bound tomes with gold lettering on their spines, while on another, there were dusty tomes that looked as if they hadn't been touched in years. In one corner of the room, there were shelves dedicated to historical literature. Here, books about ancient civilizations and long-lost empires jostled for space with texts on the great wars of the past. I couldn't help but feel a sense of wonder as I looked upon these volumes, imagining the countless stories and secrets they held within their pages. On a different shelf, there were novels and works of fiction, each with colorful titles and bold covers. Romance novels sat next to mystery thrillers, and epic fantasies were nestled between classic literature. It was as if each shelf held a different world, each book a window into a new and exciting story waiting to be discovered. As I made my way through the library, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. With so many stories and secrets waiting to be uncovered, there was no telling what wonders lay hidden within those shelves. ''We have to draft out the time you have to come to work,'' She said, gaining my attention. ''Yes, I have class from Monday until Thursday, from 9 am until 3 pm. ''I responded. ''Very well then, you are to come to work just four times a week. You can pick the time on the other days, but on Friday and Saturday, you are to come in the morning hours,'' She explained and got a nod from me. ''The keys will be with me, and when you resume work, you will take them and give it back to me once you are closed for the day.'' She spoke firmly and got another nod from me. She spoke too seriously and firmly, like I was to guide a room filled with many essential treasures. ''The Mistress is out of the country, but she will be back next week, and you will get to meet her,'' She said, making me eager to ask about alpha Leo, but I held myself. I didn't want her to get suspicious of me. ''Alpha Leo is out, but I believe you will get to see him tomorrow.'' She announced, causing my heart to pant heavily in my chest. ''You'll be paid two thousand dollars monthly. Don't worry about the firm who referred you, we have already given them their one-time payment, so drop your details with the account manager before the end of the month.'' She explained, and I nodded, shocked at the huge salary I was to be paid. ''Do you have any questions?'' She asked as she drew out a seat and sat on it while she crossed her left leg on the other. I hesitated for a moment before speaking. ''Do I let anyone enter the library?'' I asked, and she responded by shaking her head. ''No, only the Luciano's and a few other people that would be introduced to you, later. People like Beta Jayson. And you must keep documentation of whatever is being taken and also indicate if it has been returned.'' She explained, and I nodded, noting her words. ''Questions?'' She asked, but I shook my head. ''I think we are done here.'' She said, and we both stood to our feet. As I walked behind her, I stole one more glance at the exquisite library before we exited the room. She locked the door and led me through the hallway. Just when we were about to take the stairs, I saw a familiar man walking up to us. He held my gaze with furrowed eyebrows while I stared back at him, wondering where I must have seen him because he looked so familiar. ''Beta Jayson,'' Lolita announced, sending panic down my entire body.
