"What...?" Mother stammered, and I fixed my gaze on Dad, waiting for him to explain what he had just said.
"I'm sorry for keeping this secret from you," he spoke, and my impatience grew. "What is going on?" I asked, eager to understand.
"When your mother was hit by the car, a friend of mine happened to be in the area. He took your mother and both of you to the hospital and quickly called me. When I arrived at the hospital, I learned that your mother and Vera had been hospitalized," he took a deep breath while I furrowed my eyebrows, waiting for him to continue.
