The drive wasn't silent. Instead, the young man kept talking about Vera, and I couldn't help but hum and drop a suggestion when needed. He introduced himself as Christopher, a vampire by birth.
“Vampire by birth?” I asked, shocked by the revelation since I thought he was human. “Are you surprised?” he asked while his gaze was fixed on the road.
“I didn't get the signs,” I murmured while he smiled but didn't say a word.
