Chapter 10: Unconventional Demands Elena’s P.O.V: “Marry me, Elena.” I stared at the man in bewilderment. Did he really just say what I think he just said? Did he just ask me to marry him? Right out of the blue? “Are you out of your mind!” I yelled at him, rising from the chair and backing away from him as far as I could. “We don’t even know each other!” “We don’t need to,” he had the audacity of saying as he too rose from the ground and stood facing me. “That’s my child you’re carrying, Elena. My heir. If you want to take my child away from me, don’t expect me to just stand there and watch it happen. I will fight for my child’s custody if it comes down to that. But marriage gives us equal claim over our child.” Fight for custody? He had no idea that if it did come down to that, I’ll fin fair and square. Like I told him before, he doesn’t even know me and yet he thinks he can make outrageous demands and I’ll obey them on bended knees. “I don’t want you in my child’s life, Knight. I don’t want him or her to go through the trauma that their father can’t stay faithful to their mother.” I told him. “Why do you think I can’t stay faithful? I didn’t cheat on Ava and I certainly didn’t cheat on you!” he yelled at me, the music outside the door loud enough to make sure no one would overhear us, unless someone decided to eavesdrop. “You didn’t cheat with me because I was just part of your little revenge plan! We were together only one night and you used that against me by making a s*x tap and then blackmailing me with it!” I yelled back. “As for Ava, you did pretty much the same with her. You slept with her and when that relationship got exposed, you threw her aside like she’s some kind of disposable toy!” I was breathing hard when I finished and I could already feel nausea churn my stomach. “Damn it!” Knight banged a fist against the dressing table, knocking over several cosmetics and brushes. “I’m telling you I didn’t intend for it to happen like that! Why won’t you believe me?” I smirked despite the nausea. “Pot calling the kettle back huh, Knight? You didn’t believe me either when I said I wasn’t the one who took that photograph.” “Fine!” His jaw was a hard line as he strode over to where I was standing. “You’re three months pregnant, aren’t you?” I frowned, nodding my head, but I couldn’t understand how this had anything to do with what we were discussing. “Which means you have six months left till delivery,” he said more to himself before turning to me. “Then let me prove to you that I can be faithful. Six months should be enough time for that.” “Oh, really?” I raised my eyebrows at him, the honey and cinnamon spice scent mixed with the raw masculine scent of his was calming my nausea better than anything ever had this past few weeks. “And what will happen in these six months that’ll help me change my mind?” “For starters, you’ll be moving in with me for the next six months.” “Are you even listening to yourself?” I screamed, and that was when bile rose to my throat and I had to rush to the washroom in record time to empty my stomach. Unfortunately, I didn’t have anything left in my stomach to throw up so I ended up dry heaving while Knight sat beside me, pulling my hair out of my face. It wasn’t long before we heard knocking on the door and Knight left me for a short time to open it and Helena rushed in, followed by Robert. “Elain!” Helena rushed over to my side in an instant and pulled me up from the floor, and taking a napkin from the counter, wet it under water and dabbed it on my face. “Get me out of here.” I rasped out to her, finally getting the escape I needed. I know running from your problems only make them worse but right now, I felt like I was about to die. Helena supported most of my weight as she carried me to the green room, but before she could take me out of room, Knight came to stand in front of us. “Where are you taking her?” He demanded. “Away from you.” Helena told him in a stern voice that ended all argument. “The doctor had told her specifically that she should stay away from all kinds of stress and you being near her isn’t helping.” Then she turned to Robert, “This is your mess, so you fix it.” She told him before walking out of the room with me. Her car was ready when we exited the school and we settled in right away and Helena told her driver to drive to my apartment. “Will you be alright on your own tonight?” Helena asked as she settled me into bed after feeding me some soup and bread. “Yes.” I told her, barely able to form words. My eyes were already drooping. “Alright. I’ve prepared our water and your emergency meds are on the bedside table. I’ve also packed up your refrigerator in case you want to have a midnight snack. I’ll be leaving now, but if you need anything at all, do not hesitate to call me.” “Okay.” I said before my eyes closed shut. I felt Helena place a soft kiss on my forehead before she left and I fell into a deep, dreamless sleep.
