Chapter 1: Ava's Wrath

1276 Words
Upon witnessing her stepsister's actions, Eloira's eyes expanded. She had no idea that Ava had taken it from the kitchen in order to carry out her plan before heading to her room. Their parents were away on a business trip, so they were the only ones left in the packhouse that day. Ava's scheme to put Eloira in danger had come at the ideal time. She has been planning this for a long time, ever since she discovered that Eloira accepted Blake as her mate and they are destined to get married, but it always falls through because something always gets in the way. Regardless of the outcome, she made a self-promise to herself to execute the plan today. “No, Ava, please. Lay down your knife." Eloira cries out in a voice that shakes. She is now raising both hands to show how terrified she is. She even put her hands together. Praying that Ava would listen to her as her face turned as white as paper. “P-Please calm down, Ava. Put the knife down. What you are doing is dangerous. I will try to speak with Dad when they get back. If I do that, we may be able to switch places. R-Right?” Eloira tries to reason with her, but Ava does not seem to be open to hearing her out. She would be rendered blind by her intense rage at Eloira. Saying those things and doing them could not make her relax. There is no stopping the evil thoughts that have taken over and obscured Ava's mind. "No, I have already given you a couple of chances. It was too late, Eloira. You always allow them to be wasted. You are not following through on our agreement." Before Eloira could speak again, Ava rushed at her and was about to stab her with a knife. Eloira was able to dodge the knife. It made Ava more furious. She had to gather her courage to bolt from the room as soon as Ava threatened to stab her once more. Out of their packhouse. When the pack members saw them chasing and running after each other like a plaything, they were taken aback. They didn't see the knife Ava was carrying as she already managed to hide it. “Is that Eloira and Ava?” one of them asked another to confirm if it was the two daughters from their packhouse. "Yes, I believe. That is who they are." “What do you think? Are they arguing or just making jokes about one another?" another one curiously replied, her voice a bit concerned now. They all assumed that they were just teasing each other because they had never seen the two fight. Especially when the Alpha of the pack is present. Their every move is very precise and refined, especially Ava who wants to gain favor from the Alpha who she thinks of him as her own father. Those who saw them simply ignored them and did not intervene. They went about their business as usual. "Please, Ava, just stop!" Eloira's voice was filled with fear as she continued to flee, turning several times to look at her stepsister who was coming after her. "This is not how you should treat your sister." “I won't stop now even if you begged, Eloira. Not until I witness you taking a bath in your own blood. I would like to see your lifeless body! That's the only way I'll feel at ease because I know I can get Blake from you. “Eloira, you have to die!” Eloira remained silent in response to her. She focused her mind and attention on running as fast as she could to escape from her stepsister's wrath. Right then, that is the only thing she can do. Then she will think about her next step after. Right now she has to escape. She needs to be alive until her father comes back from the business trip. She promised that to herself that she must stay alive. "Eloira, I am going to kill you. Do you hear me? I will make sure of that. Whatever I want to happen should take place today. Blake is going to marry me, not you! He is mine, Eloira!” Running eventually wore Eloira out, especially as they got closer to the north side of the forest, where a lot of old trees were planted. They would eventually reach the border if she continued to run, even though that was still part of their territory. The boundaries where there are other packs are located. At some point Eloira tried to duck behind the large trees and catch her breath, but her exhaustion was too great. She continued to have trouble breathing. She squatted and covered her mouth, afraid Ava would hear her breathing if she did not do so. From her forehead to her cheeks, beads of sweat were streaming down. It was made worse by her growing anxiety. “Where are you, Eloira?” Ava inquired in a sing-song tone. She is not far from Eloira's hiding place. There are only a few trees apart. "Where have you been hiding? My dear stepsister, please make sure you hide well. You are aware that the moment I saw you, your life was over. Your life and dreams will come to an end right here." Eloira made another attempt to escape and hide in the other tree, hoping to regain strength and buy herself some extra time, but she was too late. Ava has seen her. It only took one stab to pierce Eloira's heart, and her body fell to the ground. Her vision became blurry as her blood started to flow out of her deepened wound which made her body weak. “What did I tell you? Hide properly. Take a look at yourself at this moment. I managed to get you!" Feeling satisfied with the damage she had caused to Eloira's heart, Ava buried the blood-stained knife even farther. "I have no other option but to kill you." Eloira regrets that nothing has been done especially when Ava grabbed her throat and smacked her body against the ground. The air was knocked out of her. Eloira's face became paler and more and more purple until it appeared almost lifeless. “A-Ava...” “Now, do you think you can survive?” Ava mercilessly pulled out the knife from her wound and stabbed her several more times. This ensured that she would run out of blood. Eloira tried to crawl but was unable to move and get away to ask for help from anyone. Lying like a piece of dried leaves on the ground, a flash of happy memories crawled into Eloira's mind. At that moment, she accepted her fate while closing her eyes. It was her end. This is where her life will end. Ava was the last person she saw then before everything went to pitch black. “Goodbye, Eloira. I won't wish to see you in our next life. I can breathe a little easier now that you are gone. It was sad to know that you and Dad will never see each other again. We will bury you next to your mother's grave, so do not worry. When Ava was about to cut Eloira's neck to make sure she was dead, she heard footsteps heading in their way. She quickly sprinted and hid behind the nearest tree. And when she saw that it was the group of other packs, she quickly ran away thinking that they couldn't do anything to save Eloira as her blood was almost gone.
