Chapter 10
Hayley’s POV
I had started work Monday and I was very happy that it was Friday. One more night shift then I can sleep Saturday away and then spend Sunday with Addie before she starts school. Alex and I have talking every day. He would text me to check in on how Addie and I were doing. He has offered me money for her many times, calling it back child support. I tell him I don’t want his money, I can take care of Addie. It has been nice just talking with him and getting to know him again. I have been going through all my pictures of Addie through the years and am heading to the photo store so I can make copies for Alex. I still haven’t told Addie about him yet but I think I might soon.
As I pull up to Art’s photo’s I see Mary on the corner of the street talking to some lady. She is the definition of biker chick. Low cut shirt leather pants she has her long black hair loosely curled. Lost in my thoughts I hadn’t noticed that her and the women she was talking to were staring at me. Deciding that I didn’t want to look like coward I gather my box of pictures and walk into the shop, completely ignoring Mary and her friend. I walk up to the counter and greet the old man.
“Good afternoon mam what can I do for you?” He asks
“Good afternoon, I need copies made of all these pictures please”
“Absolutely, did you want to wait or come back for them? It will take me about half an hour”
“I’ll run another errand then and come back”
After leaving him my name and phone number I head outside only to find Mary standing beside my car.
“Hello Mary, excuse me but I need to go”
“You have a lot of nerve coming back here ya know” Mary says rudely
“Excuse me!?”
“Everything was perfect, Alex was all set to take over the MC in another year or so he had his son and life was perfect. Then you come back f*****g it all up, filing his head with crap about his daughter.”
“You watch what comes out of your mouth when it concerns my daughter Mary! It’s not my fault that you kept that from him all these years! Don’t you think he deserves to be a part of his daughter’s life! Don’t you think our daughter deserves to know her father! Do you how hard it was listening to her question me about why her father wasn’t there for her, if he loved her enough to be in her life! Must be Alex isn’t talking to you right now, is that the reason your so upset that I’m here?!”
Mar is looking back at me really pissed off but also looks stunned that I would dare speak to her like that.
“Stay away from me and stay away from my daughter!” I say as I get in my car and drive away.
I ran to Target to pick up a few things Addie still needed for school Monday. As I’m strolling through the store looking at clothes my run in with Mary is running through my mind. How dare she come at me like that. This whole situation is her fault, she’s the one who kept the truth from Alex. After grabbing a few new outfits a backpack and some supplies I head over to the Starbucks hoping an iced coffee will help me calm down.
After running my errands and picking up my pictures it was time to head to work. I walk into the hospital and head for the locker room to change into my scrubs. As I enter I see Erica and Ryleigh are also working tonight.
“Good evening ladies” a say with a smile on my face
“Hey Hayley” they both say. They are really nice and the few nights we have worked together so far we have gotten along great. Erica is a nurse and Ryleigh is a resident doctor like myself. The night has been as busy as usual and the night goes by quickly. Before I know it my shift is over and I head to the change and grab my purse. As I’m walking out to my car I pull out my phone to let Miranda know I was on my way, but I see numerous missed calls from a number I don’t recognize and 1 text from Alex.
Hey there’s been an accident I need you help was all it said. Panicking I quickly call him.
“Hey Hayley”
“Your not Alex who is this? Is Alex ok?”
“There has been an incident can you come to the clubhouse? I can’t say anything else right now.”
“Uhh ok….i’ll be there in 15 minutes” I say before hanging up the phone.
