Alyssa “What do you want to gain from exploring this scenery?” I asked Kaelie as we walked out of the packhouse and into their garden. “I do not want to gain anything. I didn’t want to be stuck in the bedroom doing nothing.” She replied as she plucked a rose from the garden and brought it to her nose, making her sneeze. I shook my head as she looked around and threw the rose back, hoping no one saw her. “I hope the gardener did not see you.” I said, laughing as I increased my speed. We walked toward a picnic table right in front of a river; I looked around the table, making sure there were no spiders on the edges, and sat down. “This is nice.” Kaelie said, smiling and looking around. I was still a bit on edge. Zoe had spoken to me very minimal, and I had this weird feeling as if something was going to happen. “It is.” I replied as I inhaled the smell of the forest deeply. It was a unique smell. Each pack smelled differently depending on the region they were in. This, for some reason, had a pine scent to it. Mine had more of a woodsy smell. “So…” Kaelie began saying when we heard a noise from behind us. “Oh shīt.” Kaelie muttered as her eyes grew big. I followed her eyesight to a man standing there almost the same as her. He was panting as if he was catching his breath. He only had a pair of basketball shorts and was barefoot as if he had just shifted back from a run. He was maybe five foot eight, built maybe a beta, and had a tattoo from his left peck down to his fingers. He had dark brown hair that fell to his shoulders. I looked at Kaelie and then at him trying to figure out what the fūck was going on. “Mate.” Kaelie whispered as tears flowed down her face. “Oh shīt.” I whispered back as I covered my mouth with my hand. “My name is James Iverson, the beta for the White Forest Pack.” He said as he sauntered closer to Kaelie, it was as if he was sizing her. “Kaelie Darcy, the gamma for the Blue Lagoon Pack.” She replied. “I am going to walk to you. I will keep my wolf from marking you but know you are mine.” He said as he continued to stroll over to her. I was standing here in awe. I was stuck on whether or not I should stay here or go and let them have their moment, but it was amazing to see up close and personal. “I am going to leave you. Mind link me later.” I whispered to her as I turned around to leave. “Alpha.” He greeted me as I was about to leave. “Alpha Alyssa Bell, I leave her in your hands. If something happens to her, I will ensure you never have pups.” I replied as I turned around again and began walking away. “Well, at least she accepted her mate.” Zoe muttered, making me roll my eyes at her. “Don’t make me push you down to where you can’t come out in a week!” I threatened again with gritted teeth as I walked back into the pack house, ignoring everyone around me. “Guess who is mated?” I asked Richard through mind link as I walked up the stairs and toward my bedroom. “You?” He replied, making me roll my eyes as if he could see. “Funny, but no. Kaelie is mated to the beta of the White Forest Pack.” I replied as I pushed the door of my bedroom open and walked in. “No, fūckin way!” He replied. “Yup, I am out for tonight. Keep an eye out for her. Wake me if anything.” I said before I began undressing, then tumbled onto the bed, covering up to my neck with the covers. Elijah I don’t understand how she-wolves take a shower with scalding hot water, and we are werewolves, so we are generally very warm-blooded. I, on the other hand, enjoyed my cold showers very much. I placed my palms flat on the shower tile as I stood under the spout. The cool water felt so good on my warm skin. I closed my eyes and tried to connect with Arlo. “Why are you being so quiet?” I asked him. “I don’t want to talk to you, human.” Arlo replied, making me roll my eyes. “What did I do now?” I feigned innocence as he ignored me completely—fūcking mutt. I tried to relax as much as I could as I felt weird. My senses, for some reason, were heightened. Once satisfied with my shower, I turned off the knob and exited, grabbing a white towel and wrapping it around my waist. I walked over to the suitcase that I was unpacking earlier before being interrupted and pulled out basketball shorts, sliding them on. I was on my way to place the towel back in the bathroom when Mikhail mind linked me. “Are you coming down for dinner?” He asked. “I am not. Do you think that you can have something delivered to me?” I replied as I began unpacking my suitcase for the second time. “Will do.” He stated. “Have you heard from James?” I asked him quickly. “I have not, but if I see him around, do you want me to send him to you?” He asked. “No, that’s okay. I will be going to bed as soon I eat dinner.” I said, closing the mind link. All we have is tomorrow and Sunday, and then I can go my merry way back to my pack. “Ha! I love how you humans think you have a say in how your lives would be.” Arlo chimed in. “Oh, you’re alive?” I muttered, shoving my boxers into the drawers. “I am so going to enjoy this weekend.” He replied before shutting me out. I wish he didn’t leave me in the fūcking dark. I wanted to know what he was referring to. Maybe that was why I was terrified of leaving this bedroom. The idea of something happening or the idea of meeting my mate here was giving me hives. Shaking my head, I continued unpacking until a knock interrupted my unpacking. Closing the luggage and placing it by the footboard, I walked to the door. I pulled the door handle down and pulled it open. Mikhail was standing there with two plates of food and two water bottles in his pockets. He walked past me and placed the plates on the bedside table along with the water bottles. “Thanks, but why didn’t you send an omega?” I asked him as I closed the door and walked over to him. “I wanted to tell you that I saw James, and he was with a she-wolf.” He replied, turning to me. “Okay? He is single and unmated let him loose.” I said as I grabbed a water bottle, twisting the top. “That’s the thing. I think that was his mate.” He replied, making my eyes grow wide. “How do you know?” I asked him as I grabbed both plates and headed to the room’s seating area. “He looked at her like your father looks at your mother.” He said as he shrugged his shoulders and shoved his hands in his pockets. “Interesting. I guess we will have to wait till tomorrow to find out.” I hummed as I grabbed the fork and took a forkful of food in my mouth. “Good night, Alpha.” He replied as he exited the bedroom. Good for James if he found his mate. Now he won’t be up to my ass so much. After inhaling my food, I walked to the bed and jumped right in, not bothering with the sheets.
