Alyssa The blaring of the alarm I had scheduled on my phone for every day woke me. I reached up toward the bedside table, trying to locate that demon, but I could not find it. ‘Ugh! Where are you, you piece of shīt!’ I yelled at myself as I opened my eyes and moved the pillows and blankets around, searching for it, only to see it lying on the floor. I groaned, throwing my head back and kicking the blankets off. One thing that I hate most is being woken up early if I don’t have to. Hence, I did schedule the alarms. I failed to turn them off, and that alone pissed me off. I stood up from the bed, grabbed the device that was annoying my existence, and shut it off, throwing it on the bed and diving right back in. My alarm rings every day at five am, and since I am not in my pack, there is no need for me to be up that early. Just as I was falling asleep, Kaelie’s mind link came through. “Are you up?” She asked, making me groan again. Is everyone trying to get on my wrong side today? “I guess I am now!” I replied via the mind link. “Someone is grouchy.” She retorted. “Why? Hmmm? Why do you mind linking me so early in the fūcking morning? Didn’t you find your mate? Aren’t you supposed to be fūcking like the wolves we are?” I asked her, throwing the blanket off of me and walking to the connecting bathroom. “We have been, but I need to talk to you.” She replied, making me worry. “Come over.” I said, closing the mind link. I usually don’t get worried too quickly or often, but I was beginning to get worried now. A soft knock interrupted my thinking. I walked over to the door and pulling the door open. My mouth hung open in shock. “What the—“ I was saying when she interrupted me. “He didn’t force the mark on me. I willingly accepted it.” She announced as she raised her hand and walked past me and into my room. I needed a fūcking drink, and it wasn’t even seven am. I slammed the door shut and then looked at her with a cöcked brow. “You better start talking.” I said, trying to suppress my aura. I didn’t want to use an alpha command, but I needed to know what the fūck had happened. “You know how I always felt about finding my mate. He felt the same. It is something unexplainable, Alyssa. The sparks you feel when your mate touches you, the way your heart accelerates, and the way that both of your bodies are intuned with each other without ever meeting.” She shook her head while she explained, leaving me dumbfounded. I have heard how it feels, as everyone in my family is mated, and they are still head over heels in love with their mate. “Wait till you meet ours.” Zoe purred, making me furrow my brows. “You know him already? How?” I asked her in return, right before she ignored me again. She has been doing that a lot lately. “What will happen now?” I asked her, trying to get her to tell me what her worry was. She bowed her head down, sniffling. “I have to move into his pack.” I knew that would happen. It happens when you become mated with someone that is not in your pack. You move into their pack. “Hey, it’s going to be okay. It’s not like we won’t see each other. I’m an Alpha, remember? I can always go visit you in the pack house.” I tried to comfort her as best as I could. She nodded while cleaning her face with the back of her hand. “Now, go to your mate, and let me get back to sleep. We have a long evening ahead of us.” I reassured her, rubbing her arms up and down. She nodded, turning around and leaving the room. Once I heard the door click, I turned around, jumping right back into the bed. ~ The soft knocking on the door woke me up. I slowly opened my eyes to let them adjust to the light that was now coming in from under the window curtains before I rolled over on the bed. “Come in!” I yelled in my sleepy voice. The door handle turned, and in came one of the omegas. “I’m sorry for awakening you, Alpha Bell. Alpha Bombardo commanded me to bring you breakfast, as you missed it this morning.” She announced as she bowed her head down while holding a tray full of food in her hands. “Oh shīt!” I scrambled out of bed. “What time is it?” I asked her, walking toward her to take the tray from her but her hold on the tray was quite impressive. “It is ten-thirty in the morning, Alpha. Where would you like me to place the tray?” She asked, raising her head as I had suppressed my aura. “Oh, goddess!” I said, rubbing my face and pulling my hair in a messy high bun. “You can place it right over here.” I motioned her to the table in the seating area. “What time is the gala?” I asked her as she placed the tray on the table and stood up, holding her hands right in front of her. “It starts at five pm.” She replied. “Would you require any assistance?” She asked. “No, thank you.” I shook my head as I grabbed a pineapple chunk and bit right into it, making the juices flow down onto my chin and my hands. “Oh, my goddess, that is so juicy!” I exclaimed, popping the rest of the pineapple chunk into my mouth, making her chuckle. “Do you need anything else from me?” She asked. “No, thank you.” I shook my head as I covered my mouth. She bowed and turned around, leaving me alone to enjoy my breakfast. “Will you be coming to get ready with me today?” I asked Kaelie through mind-link. “Of course. That is the plan. I want you to meet him tonight at the gala.” She replied, making me smile. I was happy that she was finally happy. “What time will you be here?” I asked her as I continued to chew my food. “I could be there in one hour.” She replied. “Perfect, see you here.” I told her, closing the mind link. Once I finished eating my food, I stood up, walked to the connecting bathroom, and brushed my teeth. When I remembered Alex would be here this morning, I ran back to the bedroom with the toothbrush hanging from my mouth, looking for my cell phone. I finally located it under a pillow by pulling it out, and I immediately saw a notification from Alex. Alex: Good morning, Alpha. I am running a bit late. I should be there around three pm. I threw the cell phone back on the bed and sighed. I returned to the bathroom, spitting out the toothpaste and rinsing my mouth. I stripped off my clothes and jumped in the shower. Forty-five minutes later, I walked out of the shower, shaved, and exfoliated. I felt as if I was going to my wedding. I walked back to the bedroom just as Kaelie was barging in. “I am glad I had the towel wrapped around my body. If not, all my goodies would’ve been seen.” I muttered. “Oh, please!” She exclaimed, laughing and shutting the door. “Have you seen Richard?” I asked her as I walked toward the suitcase, pulling out a white lace thong. “I have not.” She replied, shaking her head and jumping right into my bed. I shook my head while sliding the thong on. “Where is Alex?” She asked. I know she disagrees with my doings, but she also doesn’t banter with me about it. “He is on his way.” I replied, grabbing the silk robe from my suitcase and sliding it on. I wrapped the belt around my waist and tied a knot on it. “Okay, you want to dry my hair?” I asked her, sitting on the built-in vanity inside the bathroom. -six hours later- “You look amazing.” Alex purred as he walked into the bedroom I had been assigned. I mean, if I say so myself, I looked like a whole meal. My hair was in soft curls cascading down my back. My eyes are done with a navy blue smokey eyes with some silver glitter. My dress was light blue. It had a very deep v-cut on my chest and back area. The whole top of the dress was full of delicate beads. The dress had a thin belt wrapped around my waist and a long tulle skirt with a slight train. I paired the dress with diamond studs and silver strappy heels. My toes may scream at me at the end of the night, but beauty is pain. “Thank you.” I replied, walking toward the dresser and grabbing the silver clutch. “Okay, Zoe. I haven’t heard from you, and I am feeling weird again. What in the hell is wrong with you?” I asked her as I walked next to Alex down the hall and toward the steps leading to the house’s first floor. I was walking with my hand curled against Alex’s elbow toward the ballroom of the packhouse. Two omegas pulled the doors open, allowing us to walk right in. I froze in my spot when the delicious scent of caramel and coffee invaded my nostrils. My eyes widened as I turned around, scanning the area as I looked for the person carrying that delightful smell. The second our eyes locked in position, the whōre of Zoe began chanting the words I never wanted to hear. “Mate!” “Really, Zoe? I like this guy!” I pouted as I answered her chant. Instead of the usual running to each other’s arms and professing our love, he nodded his head to one of the offices, making me nod in response. I excused myself with Alex and followed his scent to the office. I pushed the door open for the office. Once I ensured the door was closed, he turned around to look at me. He had his hands slipped into the pockets of his trousers, and I could see that his eyes were shifting from his beautiful hazel ones to the black ones of his wolf and then back to his hazel ones. “Just know I don’t care about this stupid mate bond.” He said while his jaw ticked and his eyes flickered back and forth between his and his wolf again. “To your luck, neither do I.” I replied, cöcking one of my brows and folding my hands across my chest. I turned on my heel and pulled the door open. “Where do you think you’re going?” He asked as he took one step closer to me. “I am going back to my date. We can deal with this later or tomorrow.” I replied and walked out of the office, slamming the door behind me.
