Betrayal

***DARCY'S POV*** I stood in the darkness, watching the human as she struggled to make sense of what was happening. She had betrayed me, and I couldn't let that go. I felt a rage inside me, a deep, burning anger that I couldn't control. I wanted to lash out, to make her pay for what she had done. But I also knew that I had to be smart about this. She was a clever one, and I couldn't underestimate her. I needed to play this right, or I would lose everything. I took a deep breath, trying to clear my mind. As I watched my mate through the wall struggle, I was torn. On the one hand, I wanted to punish her for her betrayal. She had to pay for what she had done. But on the other hand, she was my mate. She was supposed to be mine, to love and obey me. I couldn't just throw her away, no matter how angry I was. I had to find a way to control my emotions, to think rationally. But it was hard, with the rage inside me burning so brightly. I took another deep breath, trying to keep my head clear.I strode over to her room, my mind made up. I would punish her with the one thing she could not resist. I would make her pay for her betrayal in the only way I knew how. I opened the door, my gaze fixed on her, my mind whirling with thoughts of revenge. As I entered the room, she looked up at me, her eyes wide with fear. But I could also see a spark of defiance in them, a spark that made my rage flare even higher. I could not let her get away with what she had done. As I walked into the war room, I saw my beta Marcus sitting at the table, a map of the territory spread out in front of him. I knew that he was worried about what had happened with my mate, and I was prepared for a battle of words. "Marcus," I called, my voice low and stern. "We have a situation." He looked up at me, his expression neutral. "What's going on?" he asked. I took a deep breath, steeling myself for what I was about to say. "I've just received word from a messenger," Marcus said even before I could talk, his face grim. "It seems the Blackstone pack has been encroaching on our territory, and they're refusing to back down. They're demanding a meeting to discuss the issue, but I'm not sure it's going to be that simple." I frowned, my mind racing. The Blackstone pack had always been trouble, and I had a feeling this was going to be no different. "When is the meeting?" I asked, trying to keep my voice calm. "Tomorrow morning," Marcus replied. "That doesn't give us much time to prepare," I muttered, my mind whirling. "I'm not sure what their game is, but I know they're up to something. I can't trust them." "You're right to be cautious. The Blackstone pack has a history of deception and manipulation. We need to be on our guard." Marcus warned. "What do you suggest we do?" I asked, my heart pounding in my chest. "I think we need to send a delegation to the meeting," Marcus said. "But we need to be prepared for anything. Without a word, Marcus looked up at me, his face hard and serious. I knew what he was thinking, and I had to admit, he was right. We needed to be prepared for anything. But I was worried about what might happen if things went wrong. I couldn't let the Blackstone pack get the upper hand, but I also didn't want to risk a war. It was a delicate balance, and I was afraid I might not be able to strike it. After a moment of silence, Marcus spoke, his tone low and deliberate. "I'll go myself, if you'll let me. I know the Blackstone pack leader, and I think I can handle him. But I'll need your permission." I hesitated, torn between my desire to keep him safe and my need for his help. "Are you sure you're up for it?" I asked, my voice full of concern. "It could be dangerous." "I know the risks," Marcus said, his eyes fixed on mine. "But I'm willing to take them. After a long moment, I nodded my assent. "Just be careful please," I pleaded the words catching in my throat. "I don't want to lose you." He gave me a small smile, a flicker of warmth in his eyes. "I'll do my best," he assured and I could see the determination in his face. "I promise." I took a deep breath, trying to steady my nerves. "Thank you," I finally told him, my voice soft. And with that, Marcus turned and left, the door closing behind him with a soft click. I reflected back on how Beth had escaped before, and how she had put herself and my unborn child into danger. I needed to be assured that she'll never try to run away from me again. I decided to threaten her. I walked into the room, and I could feel the tension in the air. Beth was terrified, and I knew it was my doing. I had to admit, it felt good to have that power over her. But I also knew that it was necessary. I had to keep her in line, no matter what. I wasn't going to let her get away from me. Not again. I looked at her, my gaze hard and unyielding. "You're not going anywhere," I demanded, my voice firm. "Do you understand?" Beth nodded, her eyes still wide with fear. I leaned in close, my voice low and dangerous. "If you ever try to escape again, I'll kill you" I threatened, my words leaving no room for argument. "Do you hear me?" Beth nodded again, her body trembling like a leaf in the wind. "I hear you," she replied, her voice barely audible. "I won't try to escape." I stood back, satisfied with her response. I knew she wouldn't try to escape again, not after this. I had made my point, and I knew she would obey me from now on. I stood there, staring at Beth, and I asked the question that had been burning in my mind since she had fled. "Why did you try to escape?" I asked, my tone softening slightly. I truly wanted to know the answer. Beth's eyes flickered, and I saw a flash of defiance in them. But then, she seemed to deflate, and she looked away. I felt a twinge of sympathy, but I quickly pushed it down. "Mandy lied to you," Beth finally said, her eyes pleading with me to understand. "She told me that you killed pregnant women, that you were a monster. I was scared, and I didn't want to die because I was pregnant for you, I just wanted to be free." "And she even lied about my pregnancy, I'm not really pregnant" She revealed Her words hung in the air, and I felt a sinking feeling in my stomach. Mandy had betrayed me, and now Beth had suffered the consequences. I felt a surge of anger, but I kept it in check. I had to focus on the matter at hand. "I would never kill a pregnant woman," I assured, my voice firm. Immediately, I stormed into Mandy's quarters, I was ready to make her pay for betraying and lieing to me but on getting to her room, I saw the unexpected. "How can this be happening, why Marcus?" Was all I could ask as I stood there at the doorpost glued to a point in my state of shock.
