Brook woke that morning to find herself alone in bed. Dawsonhad disappeared sometime before she woke. She climbed out of bed feelingabandoned by Dawson’s absence. It was probably better she knewthat Dawson had left, even better if he did not come back. Leaving would be somuch easier if she did not have to face him.
Brooktook a quick shower and then headed for the kitchen to grab herself somethingto eat and feed Shadow. She was surprised to find the dog’s bowls already filled with kibble and fresh water.She then headed for the fridge to get something to eat and pinned to the doorwith a magnet was a note from Dawson saying good-bye and that he intended tocome back later that night. It brought an involuntary smile to her face as shethought of him returning.
