Chapter 6: Mate!

(Ember POV)

I take a deep breath before entering the building of Robinson’s group of industries. It was a huge building as compared to my company. It was of grey, black and white color but these colors were not giving it a dull and boring look instead, It gave a classy and elegant look to the building. I walked towards the reception and informed her about our meeting.

“Mam! Your meeting is confirmed, and you can go to their office. They are in a meeting for the time being, so you have to wait for a few minutes,” She answered in a professional voice and I nodded before taking back my file.

“Which floor?” I asked her because It was my first time visiting this building.

“Thirteenth floor,” She said before giving me the direction of their office. Robinson's group of industries has two bosses, which were also twins. I heard many rumors about how handsome they are but I didn’t have any interest in any of such things. I entered in the elevator and pressed the digit 13. I was feeling weird like something was about to happen but what? I started praying for the success of this project in my heart. The elevator was made of glass and I can see my clear reflection in it.

I stared at my reflection but heaved a sigh of relief in satisfaction. I was in navy blue pants and a white shirt. It is one of my favorite contrast and made me feel confident. I applied a thick layer of mascara to highlight my bottle green eyes and a thin line of eyeliner, It gave a perfect look to my eyes. I applied a dark pink natural looking tint to my cheeks and lips and put my hair down with loose curls at the ends. I was looking nice according to me and Kira. I didn’t drop Hannah and Asher to their kindergarten due to my high level of anxiety and asked Kira to drop them off. This project was very important for me and my company, Many lives depend on it. The door of the elevator slides open and I take a deep breath before setting foot on the floor. This floor was almost empty except for two small offices and a big giant office, which belongs to the head of the Robinson group of industries. I walked towards the office and pushed open the door.

The office was empty and I have to wait for them for a few minutes. I took a seat on the chair near the table and Skyline started pacing back and forth in my head. It was a long time since we both talk properly to each other.

“What happened? Are you not feeling well?” I asked Sky, but she didn’t reply to me. I guess She was still angry with me because I didn’t give her a chance to shift in the last five years. I shook my head and tried to ignore her restlessness. I opened the file and started giving the last read to it because I don’t want to make a mistake in front of them. I was also feeling a bit of restlessness but I pushed it at the back of my mind and rubbed my sweaty palms with my pants to clean it.

The office was also decorated with the classic and elegant theme of black and grey color. A big black table was present in the center with a big chair behind it. There should be two chairs because they are twins but it was not my problem at all. Two black chairs were present in front of the table. A few files, A table lamp with pens and pen holders were also present on the table. I was sitting on the second corner of the office where a big couch was present with a table in the center and two chairs on the second side of the table. Maybe, This couch was for rest and to relax a bit. This room should look scary with all the black used in it but the lighting and the decorations along with paintings were giving it an elegant look. Well! They have good taste. The door of the office opened at the same moment and they entered in the office.

“I am sorry, Miss! You have to wait for us. We were in a very important meeting and it took long than usual…” One of them was explaining while the second one froze in its place like me. The first one noticed our silence and turned to look towards his twin and then towards me. As soon as our eyes met, He also froze in his tracks.

“Mate!!!” He almost growled. His voice was mixed with surprise and happiness. I looked towards the second one and he also flashed his pearly teeth while looking towards me.

“Mate!!!” He also whispered but It was loud enough that his twin brother and I, heard clearly.

They were both looking happy and surprised but my reaction was different than both of them. I was feeling scared, Trapped, and suffocated.

“No! This is not possible,” I whispered and they both heard my words. They furrowed their brows in confusion and exchanged glances with each other before walking toward me.

“N-no! Stop there. Don’t come near me,” I said in a warning tone and I pointed my finger toward me.

“No!!! This is impossible,” I whispered again and they both stopped in their tracks. All the incidents of five years ago started coming in front of my eyes like a film and before I know it, I collapsed on the chair behind me.
