Chapter OneBaby Steps I used the hand bars to steady myself to move from the toilet to the sink. My equilibrium was still off by a bit, but I could manage better than yesterday. My mind clung to memories of last night, everyone who had come to see me—mostly men (I had no idea I was so popular). I leaned on the sink, clutching it while looking up into the mirror at myself and studied my large brown eyes—the dark circles under them made me look vaguely anemic, and slightly psychotic. My up-turned nose, and large
