CHAPTER 14

LAYLA’S POV

Paul took me to my house and I found that everyone here was already asleep. I quietly went up to my room and went to the bathroom. I took off my clothes and started cleaning my body. I washed my face and brushed my teeth. After I cleaned up, I put on a bathrobe and a towel to dry my hair.

When I was drying my wet hair, my curtain suddenly parted from the window where my eyes widened with a human figure, wearing a black mask, hat and hoodie. I couldn't see him and he just stood on the side of the tree like a motionless statue.

My heart was pounding because of fear and nervousness. I immediately closed my window and covered it with a curtain. I immediately took out my cellphone but I suddenly remembered that I had left it in Paul's car. I immediately ran to the side table of my bed to grab the telephone and called Paul.

When I tried to dial Paul's number, I peeked a little through the window but the person was gone. I opened the curtain and looked around, but he wasn't there anymore. I was relieved and out of breath.

(Hello?) I was shocked to speak on the other line of the phone. I let it go and laughed in my head because I was too scared. I picked up the phone because I dropped it in shock. When I heard Paul's voice, I felt relieved.

"Hello Paul? I'm sorry and it looks like you just got home haha." I said with a hint of awkwardness.

(Kind of? Are you calling because you left your cellphone in my car? Yeah, I’ll bring it tomorrow.) He said and I felt relieved.

"Ahh yes that's the reason why I was called you hahaha." I said.

(You sound nervous, are you alright?) he asked. Oh no, did he notice my voice?

"Ah no no, because I saw a cat in the window. I was surprised, so I'm still nervous." I said, please, believe me.

(Ah, is that so? It's just that you brought alcohol, maybe you're still drunk hahaha. Alright, goodbye, I'm sleepy. Love you.) He said and I smiled.

MR. OLLINS POV

When Kelly took me to Kai's room, the broken glass window was immediately in front of me and it was still scattered on the floor.

"Be careful, you might step on a broken window glass", Kelly told me, and I walked carefully.

I also saw traces of blood on the floor. I knelt down to see the blood. Kelly looked at me and it surprised her. I grabbed a ziplock bag and picked up the broken glass with blood on it and put it in the bag.

"We didn't realize there was blood there. Oh my gosh, who could be doing this to my brother?" Kelly said, crying.

"Calm down first. Don't worry, I will protect you." I said.

"Do you know who the suspect is?" He asked and I straightened up.

"We're not sure yet but I have a hunch it might be him," I said, and Kelly nodded.

After I looked at their house, they were all safe, but I was still uneasy about what would happen next, so I ordered my staff to watch over the Hilberts.

I was very tired because I had no sleep or rest. I got into my car and I leaned on the seat because I was so tired. I started my car and started driving. It was early morning and there were no people on the road and that was good. After I left their compound, I looked at the rear mirror and fixed it.

My eyes widened when I saw a big man behind my car and suddenly covered my face with plastic. I let go of my left hand on the steering wheel. I couldn't breathe or see. I immediately looked for the brake but I was so short of air that my right hand let go of the steering wheel.

*Car screeches*

KAI’S POV

I woke up from my deep sleep. When I opened my eyes, the beautiful sun immediately dawned on me through the window. When did I sleep soundly again?

I walked out of the guest room and immediately smelled a wonderful aroma. When I got down, I found mom and sister talking while my sister was eating breakfast while mom was cooking.

"Oh, you're awake. Goodmorning." My sister greeted me and I immediately approached her and kissed her.

"Morning love." Mom greeted me and kissed me on the cheek.

"Morning. Looks like we'll have a good breakfast." I said and mom prepared me toasted bread with butter and honey, scrambled eggs, sweet ham and also the fragrant aroma of coffee.

"Thank you. By the way, is there no school today?" I asked and mom and sister stopped what they were doing.

"I don't want to ruin your day, but class has been suspended for 1 week. Another student was seen committing suicide in your canteen after mom talked to your dean," Sister said, and took a sip of coffee. My eyes widened in shock and the surroundings became silent again.

Am I the reason why another student has disappeared? I couldn't believe what I heard. This is not true!

"How about we go out first? Let's have fun first because you just arrived, Kelly too, so let's enjoy today first." Mom said.

"Does that mean that I will spend it, right?" Sister asked and they laughed.

"Yes, blow us out now." Mom said.

"Hey, are you okay?" Mom asked. I forced a smile and nodded.

"Are you blaming yourself again?" Mom asked. I couldn't answer.

"Why do you always blame yourself? Don't think about that, Kai, mom must be the one who's nervous because she was the first to leave before the crime happened. They might think mom did it or mom ordered." My sister joked and they laughed. How do they manage to stay calm after that incident?

"So hurry up and get dressed. No phones ahh I want you to enjoy yourself without gadgets." Mom said, and put the food away.
