Chasing Dreams

Chapter Two

When I woke up Mason was on my balcony staring out into the night.

"Mason you alright?" I asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine, want to go downstairs?" He persuaded.

"Alright, but let's not hang around there too much, I don't want to listen to some stupid speech for hours!" I laughed. Mason and I walked downstairs, and Alpha Carl was already talking.

"As you all should know my son Jason will be taking part in tomorrow's Chase, it will be his first year and he hopes to find his mate,remember the rules: No chasing family members, boys you can fight over the lady’s,but serious injuries are prohibited. Lady's once you make it to the safe area,my Luna will be waiting for you with my betas mate. Scent hiders or sprays are also banned, and you will be put to death if you use them. No pressure!"Carl laughed. "Now time for ratings!" Carl's Luna walked on stage with badges and a list of names.

"Violet Hunter, blood moon pack" the Luna called. Voilet walked up.

"5 for beauty, 2 for strength" Voilet took her badge and walked off. "Mabel Smith, Lavender tails pack" Mabel bounced on."3 for beauty 4 for strength" Mabel looked ashamed. It was rare for a female to get over six for strength or beauty.

"Mason Green, -Coastal breeze pack" Mason reached the stage and bowed to the Luna,

"7 strength" Luna said handing Mason the badge. He walked off. Jade was holding a friendly looking man’s hand, I quietly snuck off in her direction.

"Psst....Jade?" I said.

"Kass you shouldn't be over here!" She whispered. I looked at the man, Jade caught me staring.

"That’s Rory isn't he so cute!!!" She giggled. I rolled my eyes.

"That's great for you" I said encouragingly. Rory saw me holding on to Jades hand.

"Who are you?" Rory asked, concerned. His brown eyes swiveled round to face me.

"Jade's best friend!" I said making a statement.

"Don't worry, Rory she's always nice to me, you two will get along fine!" Jade said. "Now let's enjoy the night!"

"Jade Middleton, Coastal Breeze Pack!" The Luna's shrill voice called.

"That's me!!!" Jade pushed past the crowd and hopped on stage.

"8.5 beauty and 8 strength!" The Luna smiled giving Jade a badge. I saw Rory growling at a few drooling males.

"Rory Smith, Lavender Tails pack" Luna called again.Rory stormed on stage and grinned.

"7.4 for strength!" Luna handed him his badge.

"Congrats Rory, brilliant!!! Jade screeched.

"well done" I said quietly patting him on the pack.

"Don't embarrass me she-wolf" Rory said angrily. He pushed her off his arm.

"Are you okay?" I whispered.

"Oh, it's fine! He's always like this, don't worry!"Jade sniffled.

"Jade you've only known him for two hours! I wouldn't trust him, he seems like bad news" I told her as the Luna announced the next wolf.

"I love Rory, it's feels like I've known him for a lot longer anyways so don't try and interfere!" Jade said turning to face him.

"Whatever, but please be careful!" I yelled loudly,she signaled to me to be quiet. I returned to my spot, when Mason showed up again.

"Got you a drink" he smiled.

"You’re a life saver!" I replied. We both talked for awhile and then Alpha Carl's son Jason was called to the stage.

"Soon to be alpha of the Blood moon pack with his brother gaining control of the Lavender Tailed pack, Jason Hinoppl!" The Luna smiled her son walked up to the stage with his brother watching closely.

"10 out of 10 for strength!" Luna shouted, proud of her strong son. He frowned the whole way through and was extremely attractive Kass's Wolf couldn't help but purr, not out loud of course! He was terrifying as well as being intimidating. He looked out across the crowd sniffing. His eyes met mine and I cowered, he smirked then looked over to other parts of the crowd. Thank god for berry wiring!

"Matt Hinoppl soon to be leader of the Lavender Tailed pack" Lina said quietly. Matt walked shyly up to the stage where his mother waited for him.

"4 strength" Luna said quietly ashamed. Gasps echoed throughout the room. 4! For an offspring of the alpha! It was shocking. I felt bad for him, having to live up to the expectations of his brother, father and even his own mother. He looked jealous and upset. A few people laughed at him,some shook their heads. Poor Matt.

"Kassidy Luzia Coastal Breeze pack!" Luna called once again scanning her eyes across the crowd. I gulped. I walked up on stage my heart beating.

"9.6 for beauty!" I blushed. As males howled licking their lips and howling. I furrowed my eyebrows. "7 for strength!" I smiled. I politely took my badge and walked off. The night was busy but surprisingly quiet, me and Mason walked outside and sat under the orchid tree together.

"Do you mind if I go? My brothers phoning me." He asked whilst his phone buzzed. I nodded feeling slightly hurt. He ran off through the archway. I wanted a nap and stretched my legs out and snoozed. My wolf ears twitched. Rustling could be heard in a nearby bush. Suddenly a coal black wolf popped out, he changed form.

"Hey" It was Matt. He was wearing a tux which went well with his black fluffy hair.

"Hello why are you here? Shouldn't you be with your pompous dad and show off brother?" I said, he frowned.

"To them I am an embarrassment, a fail, a wreck, they don't care about me." He kicked a stone. I knew he was attention seeking but I felt bad for him.

"It's OK! Who cares about they're opinion? Cause I don't! I think your pretty cool!" I said cheerfully, I barely knew him, but I already felt the friendship growing.

"What are you doing?!" I looked behind me to see Jason tackling his brother to the floor and pushing him away.

"bye" Matt said whining.

"Sorry about my brother he's a wimpy douche bag!"Jason growled.

"Kassidy!" Mason called.

"I have to go!" I yelled at Jason. "Bye the way YOU’RE the wimpy DOUCHE BAG!" I yelled with growing a temper.

"What happened!?" Mason called as I saw him.

"Made a friend made an enemy!" I laughed. " Now let's go before alpha boy blows it big time!" I whispered. Jade was sitting at the bar. Alone.

"You alright Jade?" I yelled to her.

"Fine, just needing some alone time" she said trying to be calm.
