Chapter 6Arnie was on his way back to see Dr. O’Connor. The doc had personally called twice to see how Mama and the pups were doing. The second time he’d suggested Arnie bring them in for a checkup. That was okay with Arnie. He’d been hoping to see Dr. O’Connor again, and he’d welcome a confirmation that Mama and her brood were doing well. Arnie was feeling a bit guilty at his attraction to Dr. O’Connor. Nevertheless, he still hoped the doc’s personal calls to check on Mama might mean the vet just maybe could feel the same. Did veterinarians call clients just to see how they were doing? Wouldn’t he have office staff do that? Jason had been somewhat more tolerant of the dogs. He’d even gone so far as to speak with Mr. Anderson, their grumpy landlord. Jason somehow had gotten him to grudgi
