"Get away from her!" I said, taking Fifi out of Gyda’s arms. She tried to speak, saying she was just comforting her and she wasn’t doing anything wrong, but I told her to get out. What the f**k? One minute she was asking questions about her, and the next she was smooching Alexi. Now she is here, trying to act like she is her friend. What the hell is she trying to pull?
She left, and Fifi clung to me, still crying, and I realized she was out of it. I helped her up and took her out of the bathroom before taking out my phone and calling Elly to come help me. She wasn’t that heavy, especially with my wolf strength, but picking her up was going to be weird since this place wasn’t exclusive to our kind. Elly came with Ford, and he put her on his shoulder, and we left for our room. Ford asked me what happened, and I said she was drunk.
"Duh! What made her drink like this?" he asked, and I told him I didn’t know. It wasn’t my business to snitch. Plus, I had already gotten an idea from her earlier on that she didn’t want anyone to know.
"Let me get these," I said, removing the extra pillows that were on the bed and opening the sheets before Elly put her down.
"Al-exi," she started muttering incoherent words, but I told her it was alright and added that she should go to sleep.
"Who’s Alexi?" Ford asked, but I said I didn’t know before adding that she probably meant me while shoving them out of the door and bidding them goodnight. They left, and I took off my shoes, also tired while looking at my friend—my heart broken for her before. My mind wandered to that weird b***h that I found with her in the stalls. Alexi needs to get his s**t together and call off his bitches.
I took off my clothes and put on my pajamas, but my stomach grumbled, making me realize I was hungry. There were establishments on campus where I could get food, but I didn’t feel like going there alone, so I went to the kitchen to make myself some cereal since that was the only thing we had. We still had to work out what we needed and buy groceries.
I didn’t like cold milk, so I warmed it, but just then, the doorbell rang, causing me to frown since I wasn’t expecting anyone. But before I could do anything, I heard my phone ringing from the room. I headed to it, and it was Avery. I picked up, and he asked if I was asleep, to which I answered no. He asked if he could see me, saying he wanted to hug me goodnight, and I became a blushing mess as I whispered that he could.
He told me to open for him then and ended the call. I quickly ran to the mirror, gave myself a once-over, and fixed my hair before heading to the door. I opened it and invited him, and I opened my mouth to welcome him to our room, turning around after closing the door. But the words died in my throat as she crashed his lips against mine in a fiery kiss that made my just-now-hungry stomach swoon, hunger the last thing on my mind.
My arms moved on their own accord as they wrapped around his neck, pulling him closer. A moan escaped my lips as his hands started to explore my curves before one trailed up my back and weaved into my hair. He tilted my head to the side, eliciting another moan, as his lips trailed up my jawline.
My hands left him and I grabbed onto the door while my thighs clamped together on their own accord as he took my earlobe in his mouth before the tip of his tongue started massaging the back of my ear, making me shiver.
"Avery!" I called out his name, my hands now grabbing his waist while my back arched, bending to his mercy as his soft, warm lips sucked and bit softly while slowly inching to my marking spot. "Ah, Avery," I said, crumbling to his touch, my nectar soaking my panties while my p***y clenched as he turned me into a horny mess.
His left hand slipped inside my top, igniting a fire in its wake as it slowly crept up to my bust. I shuddered, my knees buckling, as his fingers glided over my rock-hard n*****s before making circles around them. His tongue soon took over, and I gripped the door again, my vision hazy while I writhed with pleasure as he flicked, licked, and sucked me out of my senses.
But just then, the doorbell rang over and over again, snapping me back to reality and bringing Avery to a halt. I blinked, sobering up as I desperately tried to regain my senses while he opened the peephole to check.
Damn, whoever that was!
"It’s Axford," he said, and my eyes widened before I took off. I ran to the bathroom, not even letting him finish, and I slammed the door behind me. What the hell were they doing? I said goodnight. The word Horny was written in capital letters across my forehead, and I couldn't face my brothers with that mess.
I quickly washed my face, threw on my robe, and doused myself with perfume before coming out. I was immediately hit with the aroma of food as I stepped out of the bathroom, and I walked into our little living area to find takeout on the table while they were already digging into theirs.
"We figured you were hungry," Elly said as I walked into the room, but my heart skipped a beat when they asked Avery about the size of the fries he wanted, making me realize he knew they were coming. The bastard.

"Hot or cold fries?" I asked Lake, and he said it didn’t matter, focusing on his laptop. We had just returned from the drive-through with Ford and Elly to get some grub. They went to their sister’s room, and we came up to ours. They were done for the night, but we weren’t. We still had business to take care of.
"So who are they?" I asked him, plopping on the bed before placing the tray of his food next to him. He was on his stomach still looking at his computer, but he closed it, saying they were billionaires from Otria, and that came as a surprise because since they were friends with Avery, we assumed they were also from Yenin. "Anything interesting?" I asked again, causing him to laugh, knowing he was f*****g with me by telling me they were billionaires. Everyone here except us is a billionaire. That wasn’t information.
"Very," he said, putting his laptop away and sitting upright before pulling the tray with his food next to him. "Their father is Lazlo Turner," he said, and I asked him what that meant before asking him if I was going to have to do this all night, causing him to laugh at me again. Lake liked to play.
"He’s the owner of Lifeline, a specialist provider of pathology services. It says here that they have pathology expertise in a wide range of areas, including anatomical pathology, forensic pathology, infectious diseases, etc. But that’s not the sweet part. They also specialize in plastic surgery, both cosmetic and reconstructive procedures," he said, and I spit out my drink.
"What?"
"Yup! They have the best surgeons under their name, with centers across the world, and listen to this: Lazlo Turner himself was one of the top surgeons in the world before he retired. He has now taken a CEO position in one of his companies, but just because he’s done that doesn't mean he has forgotten how to perform the procedure," he adds, and I agree, finally feeling like we have taken a real step towards our goal. I ask him to check our savings after that when we are done eating. "We have a doctor and a plastic surgeon. Do you think this is our lucky year?" I asked, and he said he had been feeling lucky since last year. We laughed at that. But the laughter didn’t last long when my phone rang, and I looked at the caller ID.
"f**k, does this woman ever go to sleep? It’s after 10 p.m.," I muttered before telling Lake to look at Alafia Whitlock too. She might just be a person of interest too. I picked up the phone, and I was given an address and asked to pick up a package from the address and deliver it to the compound at 3 p.m. tomorrow.
"Yes, ma’am," I replied, and she cut the call after that.
Fucking Priestess! Never cutting us any slack.
I threw my phone on the bed, and Lake asked me what she said, and I told him, rubbing my hands over my face in frustration. Lake and I were taking a trip tomorrow afternoon, and we weren’t going to be anywhere near this place by 3 p.m. Now we had to f*****g postpone because what The Priestess says goes, and there are no two ways about it.
I grabbed my drink and took a sip before adjusting the pillows and lying back on the bed. I closed my eyes and asked my wolf to show me my mother, and he did. Her memory flooded my mind, and I felt my anxiety immediately dissipating without fail, like always.
I was six the last time I saw my parents, and my memories of them are unclear. Sometimes voices in my head would tell me this was not what she looked like. But I would always silence them, as the thought of giving in and admitting it always proved too scary. I needed to believe that it was her, she and Lake were my only reasons for keeping on. I didn’t even remember what my father looked like.
My parents left me in an orphanage when I was six and never came back for me. This was what I was told the day I asked about them. There were no photos or anything that they left behind, so I was not even sure I knew what my mother looked like. I remembered their first names, and I scoured the internet looking for them and found nothing. Austen is Lake’s last name, but it was also given to me at the orphanage since he and I were paired together. He’s more than a friend but a brother to me. Unlike me, he doesn’t even have the tiniest memory of his family. His whole family died, and he was the sole survivor. He was less than a year old when he was brought to the orphanage, and like me, there was nothing to tell him who he was.
"Mama told us that the woman who brought him in was a police officer who attended the incident, and she was the one who told them who he was. Every night before I went to bed, I prayed that my parents were alive, even though maybe I shouldn’t have since being alive meant that they didn’t want me. But I still did, and if they were dead, I prayed I at least found out where their bodies were.
Lake finished eating and I packed the things away before reminding him of Alafia. I was starting to feel just as lucky as he did too. Plus, time was running out for us.
