" Sit talking up all night, Saying things we haven't for a while, a while yeah, We're smiling but we're close to tears, Even after all these years, We just now got the feeling that we're meeting, For the first time. "

( For The First Time )
THIRD PERSON
[September 3rd 2020]
Killian was talking about the prior engagements that would need to go down before Killian would even begin to get his warriors in place to help with the touches up for Elijahs pack house that was going to be neighboring the Blue Moon Pack.
It was previously agreed that Elijah would allow his pack to neighbor his. The reason Elijah needed permission is because his pack house construction was beginning to cross over onto Killian's territory and without permission, that would serve as every reason for an Alpha to become furious. Werewolves were incredibly territorial and Killian was especially not the alpha wolf you wanted on your bad side.
Before meeting Finnick, Killian was the most violent and irrational person you'd ever meet. Cold and ruthless, he isolated himself from communicating socially unless it was about pack business. The only person who was able to tolerate him was Declan who made it his job to stay by Killian's side.
After meeting Finnick, Killian wasn't as ruthless and cold and he was more approachable. Though, he still hated people for the most part, Finnick managed to humanize Killian and soften him up. Something Declan was, on the low, content with.
Declan had known Killian since their youthful days when Killian was ten and Declan was nine. They didn't get along at all and the two were basically polar opposites. Killian was mostly caught in between fights for different reasons even when he was young while Declan was a player while growing up, a new girl always at his side. In this way, they grew up to be exactly the same except for when they met their respective mates that changed them entirely.
Declan, who was trained in the ability to snag anyone he wanted, lived a quite manwhore life. He was a player, the very definition of the man you keep away from your girl because there was a possibility they'd fall for him. Declan didn't flaunt it around that he was quite the catch, he allowed his features to do the job and it was noticeable how people would throw themselves at him.
Feelings? Something Declan didn't really give a damn about as long as he was getting what he wished for which, for the most part, was s*x. Declan was far more s****l than he would admit to and it was safe to say that the man was not virgin, as if it wasn't clear enough before.
With his life style being like this, it was obvious that he didn't want a mate. He didn't want someone tying him down or telling him what to do. He didn't want someone to care about, or someone who would have his heart. He especially hated the idea of only having s*x with one person his entire life because he enjoyed the variety of life. When he looked at the mates within his pack, he'd scrunch his nose in distaste knowing they were bound to each other for life with no way out.
That's why he didn't want a mate.
Or at least that's why he thought he didn't want a mate.
When his eyes caught Kai's that moment back in high school when they sat at that lunch table, he instantly knew that he was his mate. At first, his reaction was to ignore the feelings that blossomed within him because Kai was human and would sense an attraction to Declan but it possibly wouldn't be as strong as it would be with mates who were both werewolves but he was wrong. Just gazing at Kai had Declan feeling like he wanted Kai to himself, he was overwhelmed by his desire to hold Kai and shield him from anyone who dares to take what's his from him.
So without any thought, Declan took Kai into that closet filled with what Declan remembered was cleaning supplies and had his way with him. Being that close to Kai made Declan realize the intensity that having a mate brought. There was no possible way for Declan to ignore his feelings or keep Kai out of his life.
So at this moment, it was no surprise that his mind was drifting to his mate. Sitting in Killian's office with Killian at his desk and Elijah by his side, the words coming out of his Alpha was going in one ear and out the other.
It's been four days or so since the visit to Kai's mothers house and since that moment when Kai displayed that expression of hurt and something much deeper when he heard his full birth certificate name come out of his mom. Kai was back to normal, or at least, what is deemed back to normal for Kai which consisted of Kai brushing off all the bad and trying his best to remain his normal self.
Declan noticed this. Kai was his usual funny, outgoing and relatable self but underneath that Declan felt as if there was always something more that Kai was hiding. He didn't know what exactly his mate was keeping to himself but that visit to Kai's moms house was enough evidence for Declan to know that Kai disliked his full name for a reason that seems to haunt him. No matter how much Declan thought about it, it remained implanted in his brain that there was a deep past that Kai wanted to remain unseen.
Being respectful of Kai's privacy, as May suggested when Declan confided in her which was rare, Declan didn't ask about it and remained in the shadows despite how much he hated it. Knowing his mate was internally hurting hurt Declan as well and it remained with him the desperation to know what Kai kept from everyone else.
Of course there was also the inevitable selfishness of wanting to be special by knowing something everyone else didn't know, but aside from that Declan wanted to be there for his mate.
The amount of regret Declan feels whenever he looks at Kai is abundant when he's reminded that he's given himself to other people numerous times instead of waiting for his mate like most werewolves did. The regret only came for brief moments and wasn't frequent but it was still there. It was obvious by Kai's reactions that he wasn't that sexually experienced which made Declan question if he was virgin or if he already gave himself away.
The possessive part of Declan growled inside, envisioning Kai sharing an intimate moment with someone who was him but he knew he had no right to be angry knowing how promiscuous he used to be.
Regardless, he wanted to ask about Kai's past, it just sucked that Declan didn't know how. He wanted to comfort Kai in anyway he could but he could only do that if Kai allowed him to be there for him and trust him.
"I need to know the p*****t you're willing to offer my men to take the time out of their day to help finish up the building of your pack house," was the first thing Declan heard as he snapped himself back to reality.
Elijah wasn't sitting beside Declan anymore, he was now standing and touching around the book shelves that were to the right in Killians office.
"I'm willing to pay whatever you wish for us to pay your men," Elijah says as he takes his eyes off of the books to look at Killian who is mindlessly flipping through papers.
"How much needs to be done?" Killian asks.
"For the most part, everything is done," Elijah begins, taking a book off the shelf, "the interior needs help."
"So you're telling me you began to build your pack house and after most of it was done, you then came to me a few days ago to get permission to build on part of my territory?" Killian grips the pen in his right hand tighter as he looks up at Elijah, his brow quirked.
That was blatant disrespect and Killian would have Elijah know that he would destroy the whole building if that was the case.
"No, you misunderstood," Elijah said quickly, slipping the book back into its spot on the shelf, "we did begin building but as soon as it started crossing over to your territory, the construction stopped because I had to come to you to request permission. As we spoke and I got your approval, I mindlinked my men and they continued."
Killian loosened his grip on the pen, glad he wouldn't have to flare up because he knew his mate was close by.
"But you began building beside us and then came and asked if you could be our neighboring pack," Declan spoke up, leaning nonchalantly on the couch within Killian's office.
"For that, I do apologize—"
Declan rolled his eyes.
"I'm not mad about that, the Silver Dawn Pack is a good pack to have as our ally," Killian said.
"Let's have the alpha with a homewreaking little sister be our allies, sounds like a good idea," Declan spits out sarcastically.
Declan didn't favor Elijah at all and it was evident by his tone and by the way he looked at Elijah. Elijah understood the irritation Declan felt and he felt almost apologetic that his step sister came here causing problems. Though, it was already settled, it was obvious Declan still held annoyance.
"You know what," Elijah says suddenly after the pause that lingered in the air, "let's go on a triple date and get to know each other."
"What do you think this is? Preschool?" Declan says, sitting up, "besides, I thought you hadn't found your mate, or was that a lie?"
"I found my mate just a few days ago," Elijah begins to wear a smile thinking about Elliot.
"Oh really?" Killian pipes in, interested.
"Who's the unfortunate guy or girl?" Declan questions.
"Elliot," Elijah answers and Killian openly shows his surprise.
"He's f*****g fifteen," Declan reprimands him.
"Declan, he's seventeen now," Killian says before looking at Elijah, "and you're how old?"
"Twenty-one," Elijah replies.
Declan now stands. Along with Vera, Declan has taken a liking to Elliot because the kid had an attitude at times that Declan really appreciated.
"Elliot is a minor," Declan's eyes harden.
"Declan, don't be a hypocrite. Kai was seventeen when you two met and you were nineteen and yet you still made a move on him," Killian stands from his seat as well and moves around his desk so Declan is on his left and Elijah is on his right.
"But—"
"No 'but's, you're trying to find any reason to dislike Elijah," Killian rolls his eyes.
Declan didn't have anything to say for a moment because Killian was right.
"I know my step sister pissed you off but that has nothing to do with me," Elijah tries to reason.
"You brought her here. If you never came, it would've never happened in the first place," Declan argues.
"And if he never came, Elliot would've never found his mate. Elijah, from what I can tell, is a good guy. Give him a break. Hate Bryn, I don't give a s**t but don't hate someone who is trying to be a decent person," Killian glares slightly at Declan.
Again, Declan knew Killian was right as per usual so he wasn't able to say anything or else he'd be deemed childish. It slightly hurt Declan that Killian, his best friend, was taking Elijah's side over his. Declan knew Elijah was being a good person and there was no reason to hate him but he still disliked the fact that Killian was taking his side even though he was just being a good alpha.
The guys begin to walk out of the office now, there feet guiding them in the direction of the living room. They don't talk much after, allowing silence to consume the air as they reached their destination and there eyes caught their mates.
Killian, Declan and Elijah's eyes widen at the position they see their mates in.
Kai had his lips placed onto Finnicks' in a kiss. Elliot was holding a phone, recording the event with a blush on his cheeks while May, who they didn't notice, was chanting silently in a corner.
They growled simultaneously.
Olalalala. Would you look at that.
