"The end has come. We are here to seek revenge against what you did to our family. We are a new pack now. A new breed. An unstoppable force. Together, you cannot take us down!"

Licking her cracked thin lips, the elder tilts her stout head back and wickedly laughs. "Oh, darling, I bet I can."

Flames cast within the center of Destiny and my palms, together we stand. A deep growl rumbles from my throat, "Oh is that so?"

"Yes," she smirks.

"Try me," I hiss.

She raises her hand and points her finger right in his face. "Because we have his mate."

"You bastard!"

A Touch of the Past
CHARLES’S POV: Releasing Pearl from beneath me is a hard choice to make. Revenge. Pearl reeks of it on her skin. They just took our daughter, and Pearl is ready to claim war. Not only is she pissed, but she is also carrying my child. Her hormones are making this… this crisis, let’s say… unstable, but you know what? They f**k with my family. They f**k with me. Whatever Pearl decides, I already have her back.  Pearl stands with her fist coiled by her side; blazing heat radiates from her skin. With pride, I watch while her golden Alpha eyes and Hekate lavender eyes swirled as one. She looks at me, barely able to keep her breath steady. “Charles,” She begins. “I got you, baby,” I reassure. Wrapping my fingers around hers, I stand proudly by her side. “Whatever you need, I will call my pack, and together we will take them bastards down.” “And Erik, I would not let someone take your mate twice, man.” I glare over towards Richard, old feeling harbor deep within him whacking off his first mate’s head.  “Thanks for having my back.” Erik nods while we both glare towards Richard. He says nothing. He is oddly quiet with his nostrils are flaring, his jawline is tight. Next to him, a little female ghost pops up with Pita and Walter too. Pita flies and lands on Pearl’s shoulder. I want to help, but I am stuck here. “Who are you?” “My name is Mary Lou. I am Destiny’s best friend and the oldest known residence.” Pearl lets go of my hand and walks right up to Mary Lou. “So, you are Mary Lou. Destiny spoke highly of you.”  A small smile slides across her face. “Thanks for the clothes back there, we appreciate it.” Grasping her hands together, Mary Lou gracefully nods, “You’re welcome.” Pearl reaches out to touch her transparent hands. A gust of wind wraps around us, pushing me back a foot or two. I take the hint, letting the ladies have their space.  “May I?” Pearl asks Mary Lou. Mary bows gracefully, “It would be an honor.”  Together they touch the palm of their hands. Swirls of thick lavender and smoky grey clouds encircle their bodies. I wish I could see what is going on inside, but I know they only mean for them. Pearl’s voice howls in the air, “Hikara! Follow me! Follow me inside. I may need you!” “I’m coming, my friend!” She howls back from inside. PEARL'S POV: “Hikara, are you here?” I ask in the dark. “Right behind you, Dear. Although I don’t know why I am here, magic is not my strong suit.” Hikara’s paws pitter-patter against an old cracked cobblestone road. Up in the sky, a red moon forms, lighting up a starlit night. “We are one now. That’s all that matters. Let’s go find what is blocking Mary Lou from leaving these walls.” I offer while walking down a lost alleyway. “Fine,” she agrees and sniffs the blood-filled air. “Where are we, anyway?”   I point at the broken windows on the shops and stop beneath an old streetlight.” By the looks of this place, we have fumbled somewhere at the end of the streets of an ancient village, Hikara.”  “Be careful,” Hikara sniffs the air, “Pearl, I smell blood and death.” “Me too.” I agree, peeking between buildings we pass. The piercing sound of a youthful girl screaming out in the distance sends chills through my bones. “Mary Lou!” I cry out and follow her voice. “Pearl,” Hikara warns nervously, “remember this is a memory!” The girl screams out again, “Help! Let me in!” “Yes, but we are here for a reason. Maybe it would be a memory that will help us free Mary Lou from her being stuck at Second Chance!” “Fine! But Be careful, please!” she begs. Thunder roars in the distance. The ground beneath us trembled. It didn’t take much to catch on to where I ended up. I arrived at the infamous worn down, beat-up version of Second Chance W&W with remains of human bodies rotting in the cobblestone streets.  In a blue cloak, covering her rosy red cheeks, and a tear struck face was Mary Lou. She was standing on the third cracked doorstep with her back facing the door. Someone slowly opened it. “Please, she begged. Please, let me in!” “It was my mother. What in the hell was she doing there!” I whispered to Hikara. A sly smile spread across Sabraila’s face. Her voice dripped with pleasure. Instantly, the family fragrance of Gardenia slammed up my nose. “You want to come in, little girl?” Mary Lou nodded desperately. From around me, packs of vile vampires and unkempt rogues surrounded her. Sabraila stared down at her black nails, a wicked laugh expelled from her lips. “Sure, I will let you in… when you tell me what I need to know about Pearl Waters.” “Wh-who is Pearl? P-please!” She cried out, “just let me inside.” “Are you going to help me, Dear?” Sabraila grasps her hands and politely waited while the vampires and rogues encircled her. Trembling with fear, Mary Lou turned around and faced each one. Her tiny frame could barely remain still, but she remained steady as she turned around and faced Sabraila. “No!” “You are a bad woman. I can see it!” Sabraila shrugs her shoulders. “So be it.”  The wolves and rogues lunged towards Mary Lou, shredding her to pieces. I covered my eyes, not seeing poor Mary Lou in such pain, while Sabraila laughs like a madwoman. “Those awful bastards!” Hikara growls. “I hope their packs are all dead now!” “Me too!” I hiss.  The streets become quiet. Sabraila stops laughing because she is in shock. We look up, and Mary Lou has risen in her spirit form. She was a seer, a spiritual seer. There Mary Lou stood in front of Sabraila on the steps. She nodded. “I think I will stay a bit after all,” and floated right past Sabraila. Together, Mary Lou and I come back from her past.   Tiny sparks tingle around my skin. The coolness flows through my veins. Mary Lou had shared a part of herself that she has kept hidden for so long. “Mary Lou, I am so sorry you went through that… that torture, and my mother…” I couldn’t seem to get the words out with so many emotions running high. “It’s all in the past, but now you know why I am stuck here. I was murdered here. I cannot leave.” “You are right. It was in the past.” Hikara agrees. “Try to remember that, Pearl.” “You are right, Hikara. Thank you and thank you for coming with me on my journey.” “I still want to kill them, rogues!” She growls. “It’s in the past, right?” I try to remind her. “Yeah...” Hikara’s voice trails off. I leave Hikara to her thoughts. I have my own plans. Waving my hand around at everyone, I offer, “So, Mary Lou, we just need to make you temporarily human again, then you can come with all of us?” Mary Lou lowers her head, remorsefully, “I am sorry to say, Pearl, that would mean another sacrifice.” Charles pulls me towards his chest and shakes his head no, “Pearl, you just made one with Pita. Keep this up, and you can turn. I don’t think that is a great idea.” Rubbing my belly, I smile and brush my fingers on his beard nubbles. “I am sure I will be fine. I am stronger now. I just need someone to sacrifice for Mary Lou.”
