Casmira's POV
An agonising ache pierces through my skull as an incessant buzzing sound resounds into my ears and I feel like finding the source and incinerating it.
My head, still pounding with all the alcohol I consumed last night, is a mess of faint memories and hazy flashbacks of what happened the previous night.
A groan slips out of my lips and my brows furrows in irritation just before my eyes flutter open and I cuss at the influx of light that shoots into my irises.
Why is there so much light in my room?
With a scowl on my face, I groan again and let myself blink a few times until I am somewhat accustomed to the light inside my room, only to soon realise that I am not at all in my room right now.
That buzzing noise returns again and I find the source right beside my head and when my hands reach there, they come in contact with my phone.
09:30 a.m.
Fuck! I have an important meeting at 10 today!
Without a moment's thought, I am springing out of this bed that doesn't feel like my own and when I finally take it my surroundings, I realise that I am, in fact, not in my room right now.
The surroundings are too plain and beige for me to ever live in a place like this and that is when my eyes fall onto the bed and they widen when I see the man sleeping there on the other side of where I had been.
He's sleeping on his back and the moment my eyes take a look at his face, I realise and remember the exact moment when I had felt drawn to him last night....
|Six hours ago...|
The alcohol burns through my veins as I take another shot, wanting nothing more than to simply let go for the night, wishing to forget what day it is today.
It has been almost two decades since my parents passed away, two decades of me fighting for my seat at the head of the table of the elusive Young Family Business Empire, and even now that I am finally the CEO of the company, I am nowhere near gaining the respect of my extended family and the board of the company. There is always some new challenge waiting for me and there is always something that is expected of me.
This drama and chaos has driven me crazy to a point where I am hell bent on proving them wrong, and even today, on my parents' death anniversary, my uncle and aunt had to find something to trouble me with.
They have decided to put a condition on me receiving my trust fund.
In order for me to get it, I need to be married first. And they have apparently chosen the so called golden boy for me.
But I couldn't care less about any of it.
Right now, I am going to mourn the loss of the only people who ever cared about me and tomorrow, I am going to worry about finding a workaround to my trust fund. Tomorrow.
With alcohol and misery buzzing through my head, I make my way to the dance floor, wishing to lose my body to the beat of the music when the lights turn darker and the music begins to get a little more sensual.
That is when I feel a presence behind me and a deep and husky voice whispers in my ear—
"May I have the pleasure of dancing with you?"
A gasp escapes my lips as I turn around and find myself locked in a trance against the most intense pair of midnight blue eyes and that is when I realise that the man in front of me is something straight out of the Greek mythology.
Muscular built, chiseled chest clad in a simple black shirt with the top buttons undone and sleeves rolled up to his forearms. He has a small smirk on his lips and a calculative gleam to his eyes, almost as if he is testing me for my reaction. His hand is extended towards me, suspended in the space between us— an offer, a challenge.
And all because I am feeling like being a little irresponsible tonight, I allow my own game face to shine through as a smirk brightens my lips and I place my hand in his.
"Casmira. Casmira Young." I say in an introduction.
He grins and pulls me to himself, turning me around so his hands wrap around my waist and my back hits the front of his chest while his lips come down to whisper near my ear—
"Pleasure to meet you, little Casmira. I'm Draven."
And just at his voice, his closeness, his name, my entire body erupts into shivers and I realise that I am going to let go of my inhibitions for him tonight.
|End of Flashback|
Well, the night is over but the man still looks the same right now. If anything, his grace and good looks seem to have improved in the light of the morning sun.
I shake my head.
It was only a matter of the night. I don't do relationships or flings. I don't have time for this bullshit.
Shaking my head, I stretch my hands out before getting down to the business of finding all my belongings and getting the hell out of this place.
Just as I am done zipping my dress up, I slip on my heels and call my chauffeur to bring the car around because I remember clearly asking him to follow after me once Draven and I had left the club in his car.
I grab my purse and just as I am about to grab the door handle to slip out of the room, thinking that I am going to leave without Draven waking up, his voice startles me—
"Aww, come on, dear Mira, at least let me treat you to a good breakfast spread after the night we had." His morning voice has even more of his natural huskiness and I have to admit that I am almost a puddle on the floor.
But steeling my shoulders, I turn my head to the side and without looking at him, I state, "it was a one time thing. We are never doing this again. Thank you for having me over."
And with that, I am on my way out, knowing that we are never seeing each other again.
