Draven's POV
"So, do you have any questions for me before I show you to your desk?" The chestnut haired woman named Emily asks me as she is done briefing me about my role.
"Yes, what's the boss like?"
The only important question that matters right now. The only important reason I applied to be the CEO's assistant in the first place.
Emily looks taken aback by my question as she looks down at the stack of papers in her hands before clearing her throat and meeting my gaze again, "be careful with Ms. Young. She has a temper and she doesn't accept slacking off. She wants things done to a certain degree of perfection and if you wish to survive here in this role, you'll have to stay on your toes and make sure that you strive to be the perfect assistant for her. If you can't keep up with all that, sadly you will be the fourth assistant she will have fired in the last two months."
Emily's words make me want to snort but I keep my face mostly expressionless. I am more amused than scared after finding this out about the woman I am here for.
I give Emily a quick nod, fixing my royal blue tie as I start gathering the joining documents she had handed over to me, "please show me my workspace. Thank you for that warning." I wink at her, giving her my best grin that has women wooing over me.
It has the same effect on her as she gets up, deliberately leaning forward while she does, trying to get me to glance at her ample cleavage that I have absolutely zero interest in.
"Follow after me." She states batting her lashes and with an extra swing to her hips, she starts leading me out of the glass cabin and onto the floor filled with bustling office staff, hurried secretaries, and rushed partners, all wanting to get the day started on a productive note.
The Young empire is a century old name in this country, known for being the largest luxury goods conglomerate that has only ever been run by the elusive members of the Young family and no one else. The Youngs are known for running a tight ship when it comes to their business and the current CEO is rumoured to be the most ruthless and dangerous one out of all the past CEOs.
Passing through a busy bullpen, Emily leads me to a small flight of stairs that takes us to a secluded floor area which overlooks the entire office floor and has only a couple of rooms spread about.
A spacious cubicle is located right outside the largest and most luxurious room on the floor while the other two rooms are spare conference rooms.
As Emily takes me to the cubicle, my eyes graze over the interiors of the office behind it and much to my taste, it looks immaculately curated with just the right proportions.
Right at the door of the impressive office, a simple word is written—
CEO
I hide the smirk that is threatening to break onto my lips just when Emily stops in front of the cubicle and turns around to face me.
"Ms. Young is currently in a meeting right now but she should be done in about ten minutes. Till then, you can make yourself comfortable, this will be your table, and in the meanwhile, I will bring her here so that she isn't caught off guard by you." Emily informs me and just as she is about to leave, I stop her by asking—
"You're really scared of her, aren't you?"
"You should be too, if you're choosing to work here." Someone's voice interrupts Emily from responding and from the way her eyes widen with horror, I have a feeling that I know exactly who is standing behind me.
"Ms. Young! I didn't realise that your meeting was over. I should have informed you sooner. This—"
"Is he my new assistant?" The ruthless CEO snaps at Emily and I bite the inside of my cheek to hide my grin just as I turn around to take a first look at the woman I have heard so much about.
And the moment my eyes clash against the amber hues of her enchanting orbs, shock seeps into my pours and I realise that the woman standing in front of me is the same one who crept out of my bed this morning.
Fucking hell.
"You?" She spits out like the mere sight of me is disgusting and haunting to her as her beautiful face that was drawn in pleasure until last night is now drawn in anger and Emily is practically shaking. "You're my new assistant?" She asks agitatedly and then turns her gaze towards Emily in order to confirm her fear.
Emily sputters to make a response but I cut her off—
"Yes, I am. Draven Russo. Pleasure to meet you." I say offering her my hand once again, just as I had offered last night to invite her for a dance, and giving her the same challenging glint that I had used on her then.
This is a surprising turn of events and something that I had absolutely never prepared for.
Last night was a fluke. This morning isn't. But considering that both these situations have led me to the same person says a lot about everything.
She purses her lips together, glaring at me and then says to Emily, "get back to work. I'll take it from here."
Emily's eyes widen as the poor woman looks towards me for a second before she tries to speak, "ma'am but—"
The blistering glare that Casmira shoots her way is enough to make her shiver in her spot as she puts her head down and walks away from here, muttering apologies under her breath.
Once she's gone, I smirk, "bit harsh, don't you think, little Mira?"
And at the look that she greets me with, I know that I have just poked a goddamned piranha.
I am so going to enjoy this.
