Clara knew that she had lied to Remy about her name being April. It was a habit of hers to lie to men about her real name since she wasn't interested in them and only wanted to have s*x with them.
She walked back through her house gate, as she lived alone, and returned to her room in the rented apartment.
Meanwhile, Lerisa drove to the shopping complex to buy clothes. She parked her car and sighed as she remembered how Clara had denied knowing her.
Lerisa thought about calling Anthony again, but she didn't know how to tell him that she saw his girlfriend cheating on him.
She switched off her car engine, stepped out, locked the door, and walked to the boutique to pick out a gown.
In one of the boutiques, a sales representative greeted her, "Good afternoon, ma'am. What kind of clothes do you want to buy? We have gowns, skirts and blouses, trousers, and any kind of feminine wear you want."
Lerisa smiled and looked around the boutique before replying, "Gowns, as I don't usually wear trousers."
"Okay. Come with me," the saleslady said, and Lerisa followed her, glancing at the other shoppers since it was Saturday and the weekend.
The boutique was busy and lively. The saleslady showed Lerisa a collection of clothes she thought she might like.
"Here, have a look at this, miss. You can make your choice. Which one do you want?" the saleslady asked.
Lerisa snapped out of her trance, looked at the clothes, and finally made her choice.
She pointed to a light green gown with yellow collars and said, "I'll take that green gown."
"Okay," the saleslady said. Lerisa asked, "Can I try it on?"
"Sure, Madam. This way, please," the lady directed Lerisa to the fitting room. Lerisa noticed other women trying on clothes there as well.
She tried on the gown, liked how it looked, and then returned to pay for it.
She later chose a cream-colored shoe to wear with the gown.
"Thank you for shopping with us today, miss. We look forward to seeing you again," the saleslady said. Lerisa replied, "Thank you."
She collected her bag with her purchases and exited the boutique, heading to her parked red car.
As she reached the parking lot, she was shocked to see a man standing beside her car.
Lerisa became nervous as she approached her car. The man looked familiar, but she couldn't place where she had seen him before or why he was waiting for her.
"Hi," Remy said as Lerisa approached him.
Lerisa realized he was the same man she had seen with Clara and asked, "What do you want?"
Remy smiled and replied, "Nothing. I'm sorry for following you. I like you and would like your contact number so I can keep in touch."
Lerisa was shocked by his audacity. Fortunately, she didn't have her phone with her and said, "I'm sorry, sir. But I don't have a phone and can't give you my contact."
"Excuse me, miss," Remy began, but Lerisa quickly unlocked her car, got in, and drove off, almost hitting him. He jumped aside, cursing.
The onlookers in the parking lot wondered about the situation.
Lerisa sighed as she drove home, wondering why the man had followed her. "Did he know I took photos of him and Clara? Why would he follow me?"
She shook off her worries and focused on driving, checking her rearview mirror to ensure she wasn't being followed.
She soon arrived home, parked in front of the gate, got out, and opened it.
She drove into the compound, parked, and locked the gate. As she turned back to the house, she saw her younger sister, Martha, had arrived.
"Big sis!" Martha exclaimed, hugging Lerisa tightly.
Martha was a 20-year-old who resembled Lerisa.
Lerisa smiled and asked, "When did you get home?"
As they walked inside, Lerisa remembered what she had forgotten what she bought.
"Not long ago. Dad said you went out to buy something. Where is it?" Martha asked. Lerisa replied, "Oh, right! I left it in the car."
She quickly retrieved the bag from her car and said, "It's Anthony's birthday today, April 30, and he's 30."
"Wow, I'm glad I'm home to celebrate! I won't miss it." Martha said, and Lerisa smiled as they went into the house.
