I didn't even attempt to open my mouth on the ride back to the house. Phoenix knew why I wasn't talking. He knew what I was thinking. And he wasn't complaining. I didn't have to talk even if I wanted to. He would shush me if I did, that I knew. I could feel him fuming from beside me. His foot was heavy on the gas and he swerved in and out of traffic like it was the easiest thing in the world to do. I wasn't scared, I knew he knew what he was doing.
