As the door opened, a beautiful lady standing in front of a human-sized mirror was wearing a glittering white gown. A crystalline tiara was placed on top of her head with her hair braided in an elegant style.
When she heard the door open, the lady turned back and smiled brightly. Her smile was like the early spring, it was warm and blooming like flowers. “Kathy! You made it! I’m so glad you are here at my wedding!”
The lady immediately went towards the person that opened the door and held her hand excitedly. Looking at her face, it was identical to the person who had come inside. The only difference is the color of their eyes. The lady in a white gown had eyes as blue as the ocean, while the other lady’s eyes were amber-colored, they were bright as the sun.
“Kassy…” Kathryn said in a whisper.
Kassidy’s smile widened. Her happiness was obvious, especially obvious in her expressive eyes. The corners of her eyes formed into a slight glint and her blue eyes brightened even more. “Look, this is the gown I made myself. Do you like it?”
Kassidy twirled slowly, showing the gown to Kathryn, who stood rooted in her place. Noticing her silence, Kassidy stopped and looked at her, “What’s wrong? Do you not like it?”
Kathryn’s throat itched as she tried her hardest to stop herself from crying, “No… You look beautiful. The most beautiful person I ever saw.”
“Really?… I hope my fiancee would think the same. You know, I wanted to look my best today. You saw him, he is so handsome, so I shouldn’t disgrace him.” she had this dreamy look when she spoke about her fiancee. It was clear in her eyes that she was deeply involved with him.
“Kassy…Don’t worry, he will—“before Kathryn could finish her words, the bright room had turned dark in a snap. The white walls had turned grim. The place had turned cold where no windows or any opening that light could pass through.
‘What’s happening?!’
When she searched for Kassidy’s figure, the space was empty.
“Kassidy! Where are you?!”
She hastened her steps, trying to search for her sister. Despite the darkness, she desperately looked for her everywhere.
“Kassidy!” Kathryn shouted anxiously when she saw her twin sister inside a dark room. Large steel bars acted as a barrier between them, with Kassidy locked on the other side.
Kathryn’s eyes widened as she immediately tried to open the lock. “Wait for me! I will get you out of there!”
She kicked, pushed, and pulled till her hands hurt, but the doors remained intact.
“Kathy…” Kassidy’s voice was as soft as a whisper. Her usual bright voice had turned solemn, as if all life in her had vanished. And the only thing left to her was her physical body.
Kassidy was still wearing the bridal gown but dirt and blood had stained the gown she was wearing.
“Kassidy! I will get you out of there!” Kathryn’s tears had become so rampant that she could not clearly see what was in front of her.
“Goodbye, Kathryn…”
Kathryn woke up in cold sweat, her heat frantically beating against its cage of ribs as she vividly remembered the dream of Kassidy’s bloody gown inside a dark cell.
“Kassy…” Sorrowful tears streamed down her face as she sobbed uncontrollably over her dead twin sister, her shoulders trembling with the force of her emotions.
This was not new to her. For the past 7 years, she had been having nightmares about her twin sister. Every scene of her dreams changes, but it will all lead to the same end. Kassidy was covered in blood.
It took her a while to stop herself from crying. Another nightmare that would deprive her of her sleep. Once she has nightmares, it would be impossible for her to go back to sleep.
Kathryn walked out of her bedroom and opened the glass door leading to the balcony. The night sky was aglow with bright city lights. The pale crescent moon shone like a silvery claw in the night sky.
As she looked up at the blanket of stars that stretched to infinity, her memories of that night resurfaced. Kathryn heaved a deep sigh as she inhaled the night air from her balcony.
She could remember how Kassidy liked the night sky. When they were still children, she would often sneak out of their bedroom just to look at the dark sky. It did not change as they grew older.
Kathryn once asked her why she liked the night sky so much. Her answer surprised her that it was etched in her mind no matter how long it was.
‘Because the dark sky is like the color of my eyes. When the night ends, another day begins, which signifies another hope for everyone. You, Kathy, are like the glowing sun. Your eyes are like the color of the sun, bringing light and joy to the people around you. You and I are like night and day. Waiting for the night sky to end is also welcoming the start of a brighter day. So, this is me waiting for you wherever you go.’
Kassidy’s thoughts were quite different from hers. She always saw beauty in anything, no matter how ugly or dark it was. For her, all the things in the world had their own beauty. And not all beauty can be seen with our eyes. Some were hidden and they can only be seen if we have a deeper understanding of them.
That’s what Kassidy is. She was the kindest and warmest person she ever knew. She could still remember that moment when both of them were in danger. Kassidy volunteered to sacrifice herself just for her to escape. Fortunately, both of them managed to get out of there alive.
She was quite different from Kassidy. If Kassy was kind and warm, she was rebellious and cold. Kathryn doesn’t like to be restrained by things. That’s why she left the werewolf kingdom, leaving Kassy behind.
But as kind, as she was, Kassy did not blame her. She supported her in everything she did. That’s how loving and selfless she was.
‘Whenever you miss me, just look at the night sky. If the stars twinkled and the moon is glowing, it means that I’m missing you too. I will do the same. Whenever I miss you, I will look at the bright sky in the day and think that it’s you.’
Those were her words before she left the werewolf kingdom in the past.
‘Kassy, look, the stars are twinkling and the moon is glowing. You are looking at me from above, right? I missed you so much, my dear sister.’
Kathryn uttered in silence as she glanced at the night sky solemnly.

“Abby, how was the investigation going?” she asked her secretary after signing the documents that Director Queen sent from KK Fashion.
“I have found Cole Donovan’s location. He wasn’t staying in the school but outside and was working as a part-time chef in a small restaurant located in the eastern part of the city. It was quite far from Frostclaw’s Culinary School and Arts.”
“Working?”
“Yes, Miss K. From what I know, he was working to save money for his tuition fees. I think he had already accepted the fact that he wouldn’t be able to win against Chris Moe with no one supporting him…” Abby answered.
“A fighter, I see.”
This Cole Donovan is something. Someone who doesn’t surrender is what she needs.
“Set up a meeting with Cole Donovan right now… Wait, I should go there. Abby, prepare the car.”
“Right now?… But Miss, that place is…” Abby hesitated.
“That place is what?”
“Miss K, that place… is not a regular restaurant… It’s a gambling den under the disguise of a restaurant.” Abby said, her head lowered.
Abby was familiar with that restaurant the most because she had once worked there before she met Kathryn by chance. That restaurant was owned by a local tyrant named Archie Lyons. He was a member of the Frostclaw Pack, so he wasn’t afraid of being caught.
In his restaurant, aside from gambling, p**********n and illegal dealings with firearms were also present. Whether Hook’s family was related to this restaurant or not, she didn’t have a clue about it.
That place is totally unsafe. That’s why she did not want Kathryn to go there. Although she had bodyguards following her and another guard hiding, she did not want to take the risk. After all, they were inside the territory of the enemy.
“If that’s the case, why did Cole Donovan work there?”
“The illegal things in that restaurant were kept a secret from everyone. Only those who had worked there for a long time knew about it. In Mr. Donovan’s case, he was still a newbie, so it was obvious that he did not know anything about it.”
“If that’s the case, then have someone invite him. I will be meeting him later this evening.” Kathryn muttered before she opened the door to her office, “Also, prepare a contract so that Mr. Donovan could sign it tonight. The competition is about to start and failing is never in my vocabulary.”
Abby felt a chill running down her body when she saw that her boss had smiled at her. That smile was just too scary. Whenever Kathryn smiled like that, she was planning something evil. That’s for sure.
“And Abby?”
“Yes, Miss K?”
“Start calling me Miss Jones. We should risk my identity being leaked. And start the renovation of one of the properties. The one located farthest from the school. Before the competition, Cole Donovan would need a place to practice without being spied on.”
Abby noted it down on her tablet before nodding her head. “Right away, Miss Jones.”
Kathryn gestured for her secretary to go before slumping back into her chair. Her head was starting to ache after that restless night she had. But, she could not afford to rest as there were still so many things to prepare.

“Kathy! Save me! Save me, please!”
“Kassy!” Kathryn shouted, failing to compose herself.
“Help me! They are going to kill me! Please!” she begged as unshed tears blurred her vision.
“Kassy… I’m—”
“Miss Jones! Miss Jones, wake up!” Abby’s voice instantly jolted Kathryn awake.
Her gaze turned dark when she thought about her dream. These days, her dreams have totally plagued her sleep often, which was quite different from those in the past. Is it because she had stepped foot in the enemy’s territory? That’s why her dreams had increased.
“Miss Jones… there’s…” Abby awkwardly gave her a black handkerchief. “You have tears in your eyes…”
Kathryn accepted the handkerchief and wiped the tears staining her face, “Are we near the place now?” she asked, ignoring Abby’s curious gaze.
“Yes, Miss Jones. Mr. Donovan is already waiting for us in that room. And I also sent people to check the area so that no one will spy on your talk with him”, Abby said.
Kathryn nodded in response to her secretary’s words.
It did not take long before they arrived at that place. It was a coffee shop with private rooms on the second floor. Offering privacy was the highlight of the shop, so, this place was perfect for their talk.
As soon as the door opened, a young man sitting immediately stood up. The young man was startled for a moment when he saw that it was a beautiful young lady who had come in.
He was doubtful but his doubts vanished when she saw the same person who had approached him earlier this afternoon, following behind that gorgeous lady. If his guess was right, this must be her boss.
“Pleasant to meet you, Mr. Donovan.” The gorgeous woman greeted him.
Cole did not know how to address her but answered instead, “The pleasure is mine, Miss—”
“Miss Jones. You can call me Miss Jones.”
Cole nodded, “Pleasant to meet you as well, Miss Jones.”
Kathryn smiled at him as she took the empty chair, facing him, “Shall we talk about business now?”
