Chapter Four:
Aida’s POV
The importation of raw materials from abroad. I was to handle that? I knew barely anything about raw materials. Why should I do that. Was this how he said I’d be useful?
“This will be how you work for the pack. It’s a job that involves humans so no one is willing to take it. You know them better so handle it.” He said authoritatively.
How could he determine my future so calmly, after rejecting me like I was piece of s**t? Did he think I’d stomach all that?
“I refuse.” I dared to defy. “I already got a job today. Also, I know nothing about raw materials. I’d fail...”
“Your education under those humans were financed by Black Bite Pack. This is how you’d repay the favor!” He suddenly raised his voice.
What was worse was that the business wasn’t around our pack but at the other end of our country! It was like he banished me while I would do community labor.
I slowly left my seat, Dennis was moving closer to the surface. “Alpha Redden. I reject your offer with the same disdain you used to reject. I don’t care about it just like you didn’t care about my own feelings.”
The guts I spoke with were Dennis’s, my surest backup. I didn’t have the courage to speak that way to an Alpha. “I will banish myself from this pack if you want, leaving with my mother as well. As for the expenses on my education, the former Alpha paid it without asking for r****d so I owe you damn nothing!”
Mia shook in her seat. I was terrified internally but Dennis was with me, nudging me on. “On this note, I’d take my leave, taking it that you understood.”
He did it again, ignored my actions and only folded his arms. His muscular arms bugled at that movement and I tore my yes from them and met his gaze.
For the first time, there was an emotion on his face, that wasn’t annoyance. It was even more human. But it annoyed me most. How could he have an AMUSED expression on his face?!
It was insulting. I felt insulted. “Aida Sundew, if that’s what you’d rather do, then you have your Alpha’s blessings.”
“You are no longer my Alpha then!” I yelled and grabbed my mother’s arm, pulling her away from the Alpha’s presence. Mia bowed to him, then hurried after us.
I didn’t care anymore. I came here to take my last things anyway, what use was leaving my mother alone in here? “Are you coming with us, Mia?”
She hesitated before slowly shaking her head. I was sad but I understood her. This was her home and her father and bother lived here. She wasn’t like me who lived my most important life with the humans.
I pushed the gift I bought for her, a phone, into her hands and forced a smile. “I’d call you sometimes. Please keep it around you, okay?”
Her eyes began to water and she wrapped her arms around my neck. My mother patted her head as she sobbed. Today wasn’t going very well. It had begun to derail.
When my mother and I reached a main road, I called a cab to take us to my apartment. In the next three hours, I’d have to go to collect my schedule then meet with Dylan.
“Ah, I forgot to tell Mia but mom, I got a job at a really big time car company!” I gushed excitedly. She didn’t react, only sighed as she looked outside the cab.
That’s right. I got us banished from the pack I grew up in, where she met my father and where she grew up in, as well.
That decision was made spontaneously and I didn’t even get to know her thoughts on the matter. “I’m sorry, mom.” I said. “But didn’t that place feel uncomfortable since Alpha Quinn left?”
First, the pack house and major buildings in the pack were repainted and some demolished and rebuilt. The theme color of the place became Red and not Black, as Black Bites Pack.
It was like Redden wanted to smear his name everywhere in the pack, as it’s new Alpha. It nauseated me. I sighed. The cab stopped and I paid him then alighted, my mom did the same.
My apartment was within a storey building on the second floor. The building was painted black and blue and resembled what Black Bite Pack used to be before.
I arranged a small breakfast and ate quietly with my mom.
She hadn’t spoken since. Perhaps she was taking in everything. The realization that we were now without a pack. A rogue, as other werewolves would call it.
It wasn’t a big deal because I didn’t see myself achieving what I want while being the good werewolf girl. And Alpha Red didn’t have convincing reasons for me to stay either.
“Mom. I’m going to see a friend now. Do you want me to get something for you?” I arranged my hair as I spoke. It was afternoon and time to get my schedule, then meet Dylan.
She tried to pause the TV and stared at the remote intently before finding the button. “Is that the date you spoke about earlier?” she raised a brow.
I was glad she was speaking to me again. “Yeah, he’s a really cool guy. If you want, I could invite him sometime.”
She let out an exhale. “I don’t know how humans brain works yet. I’d rather avoid them till I figure it out.” Some werewolves thought humans were very different from us. My mother was part of that group.
“Okay! Bye then!” I closed the door and chuckled, feeling the good vibes of the day again. Before meeting with Dylan, I’d stop at the Diamond Group of Companies to collect my schedule.
I was to resume work tomorrow or next but I might start tomorrow. I was too excited to spend another day waiting. I arrived at the Diamond Group of Companies.
My eyes widened at the beauty of it’s building. It was a sleek building with lots of glass and metal. It had a large parking lot in front, where the latest Diamond models were on display.
The building was mostly white, with accents of yellow and gray. It was very eye-catching and impressive, just like the car model it represented.
I exhaled before walking in. I had already printed out my acceptance letter and appointment letter. I was ready for this next moment of my life.
