He was truly going to do it. I had always known that he was a monster, but his actions were taking it to another level. Some steps away from the dining hall, tears had already drawn semi-permanent fixtures on my face.
His phone rang.
I sent silent thanks to whoever was on the other end as he slowed down. All my hopes were dashed when he pushed me to keep on walking, which meant that he was not going to pick up the call.
Then, like the universe was smiling at me, the phone kept vibrating. He moved his hand from my hair to my neck and brought me closer to him. My neck was flush against his front as he placed the phone on his ear and barked into it.
“This better be good”
I could not hear what the person on the other end was saying because I was distracted trying to stop myself
