Seeing the fear clear as day in not just her face but her whole body had me more pissed off than I already was. Still, I did my best to control my anger. I didn't want to frighten her more than I already was. I was lucky enough the hospital staff was letting me in to see her. She was technically on a seventy-two-hour hold here at the hospital to watch her and evaluate her to make sure she wasn't going to try and hurt herself again. Word was already sent that no charges would be taken against her for running her truck into the side of the bar. But that didn't change the fact she ran her truck into the side of the bar on purpose. Hence, the psychiatric hold she is under now. One I was hoping would turn into more than just a hold, and she was going to be offered some much needed help.
"Sierra, he is gone. I wish I could say I was sorry, but I am not. He won't be coming back."
She shook her head, and tears sprang up in her eyes and began flowing down her face.
"He wouldn't leave me. He wouldn't."
She shook her head some more, her tears flowing heavier down her face.
"He can't find me here when he gets back. I have to get back to the house before he finds out I am gone."
From the corner of my eye, I could see the nurse glaring at me from the nurse's station. She was already pissed off at me for making her remove the restraints. She could easily tell me to get the hell out. I was going to have to figure out how to calm Sierra down without scaring her more and fast. Taking a deep breath, I let it out in a burst of air. I had to make a decision the others would most likely vote against, but I needed her to understand Vex was gone for good. Lowering my hands down from their position so she could see them and know I didn't mean her any harm, I reached over and closed the door. I ignored the dirty look from the nurse at the nurse's station as I did so. I was only going to have a good thirty seconds to a minute to get Sierra to believe me before the nurse came in and made me leave. Moving across the room, I got Sierra to look at me.
"Sierra, I need you to listen to me. He is gone and not coming back ever. He betrayed the club. There are consequences for that. You are safe from him. Do you understand?"
Pulling back, she stared at me, not saying anything. The longer she stayed quiet, the more I worried I had hinted too much, and this was going to backfire for not only me but for the club. Though if I needed to, I would take the fall for this so none of the other guys would spend time in prison for killing the fucker. The room door flew open, and the nurse stormed in.
"Out."
I nodded, my eyes never leaving Sierra as I stepped back from the side of her bed and made my way back out to the hall. My hope that she would understand before I was completely kicked out of the room faded. As I stepped out of the room, I sighed in relief as she seemed to relax and nod her head as if she finally understood he wasn't coming to see her. However, I didn't know if that also meant she understood my meaning in the fact he had betrayed the club, and there were consequences to that, because of which he was coming back ever.
"No, please let him stay."
Her voice wasn't near as strong sounding as it was before. It was so quiet I barely heard it myself. The nurse sighed but nodded, her eyes narrowing on me.
"Fine, but the door stays open, and the first sign of irritation and you will leave."
She didn't talk to Sierra. She directed everything she had to say to me. Allowing me to walk back into the room. She even stood there by the door until I was back over by the side of the bed. Both Sierra and I watched the nurse until she walked back out of the room and sat down at the nurse's station across from the room door. Her eyes stayed on me as I turned my body away from her so I was facing Sierra.
"What happened to him?"
Again, I noticed her voice sounded awfully quiet and not full of life anymore. Still, I did my best to answer her question without giving too much information.
"Besides everything he did to you. I am sure we haven't figured out most of it yet and have only guessed at some of it based on what we found in the house today. All of which he knew damn well we as a club stand against, which is why I am guessing he kept you a secret, and none of us knew he was even married."
Slowly nodding, she didn't say anything as she watched me.
"He kidnapped another member's daughter, giving her to his brother and allowing him to hurt her. Along with assisting his brother in harming two other members, resulting in both of them spending time in the hospital."
"What happened to him?"
I shrugged my shoulders.
"The club took care of him and his brother. Neither of whom will be coming back."
Again, she was silent for a long time. The silence was interrupted by the damn nurse again as she cleared her throat.
"Times up, out."
Sighing, I stepped back from the side of her bed. Like last time, I kept an eye on her as I left. She didn't say anything out loud as she looked up at me and slowly nodded her understanding of what I had just told her.
