“Your next meeting is in 5, Miss Patera,” Athena’s secretary and bodyguard, August, announced.
Indeed, she had to go through the same pain as Anastasia, namely having a bodyguard. She had yet to awaken, and since she was the only daughter of the famous Andreas Patera, she guessed there was no helping it.
“Okay. Thanks,” she told him with a smile.
And with that, she fished out the file that was in her drawers. If this meeting went well, it could very well mean a big step forward for the company. Had she been human, she guessed she’d have definitely gotten clammy hands and all the possible tell-tale signs of nervousness.
As she was, she just restudied her file for what felt like the umpteenth time.
Wild And Frivolous had been a start-up not too long ago, and yet it became a much bigger company in a very short amount of time.
If she could secure the deal, and get the contract for their latest motorcycle which was to be released soon, she would be one happy vampire.
Admittedly, she would be much happier if she had had the guts to go back to that pack territory and sought her mate out. It had been nearly a week since their first not so pleasant meeting.
She wondered what he was up to, if he was still entertaining women while she craved his touch like she did her next blood fix.
One ought to stay positive, she told herself. Stay positive, Athena.
One minute, she was just thinking about him. The next minute, she was inhaling big puffs of his intoxicating scent.
August came into the room and announced solemnly, “Your 11 am is here, Miss Patera.”
She nodded at him distractedly, unable as she was to focus. She gulped down her dread and her anticipation and looked expectantly at the door.
Soon enough, appeared her mate in all his glory.
Good god, he was handsome!
His eyes narrowed on her, and she had to shake her head to snap out of it.
“Hello,” she greeted in a perky voice as she stood to her feet.
“Morning,” he said simply and almost coldly at the same time.
“I don’t believe we have officially met,” she said as she took a few steps forward. “I’m Athena. I am the marketing head manager of Genius corp.”
“We have not indeed,” he looked at her extended hand with what something akin to conflict and pain on his face. “I am Dimitri Wild, CEO of Wild and Frivolous, and I don't shake hands.”
She took back her hand almost as if she had been burnt, and she was sure that had she been human, her cheeks would have burnt in embarrassment.
She was feeling almost faint, as if she would throw up at any given moment, and had to inhale his scent deeply since it was so comforting.
She was also delirious with happiness. She hadn’t needed to go to him. He had come to her… even if it wasn’t done on purpose. Fate just had its ways.
And most importantly, she now knew his name. He was no longer a nameless face.
