I woke up to the sound of my alarm clock. I couldn’t even open my eyes for If did, I would feel like the world would be spinning. The pain started to crawl from my eyes to my head. This is weird. I’m a morning person. Waking up early in the morning was never an issue. I searched for the alarm clock. I knew it here somewhere. With my eyes still closed, I search for it with my hands but instead I fell face down from my bed to the floor. I had to open my eyes and just like I thought, my head is spinning.
“Seira, you have to wake up. You have to go to school.” Mom entered the room and opens the window blinds, blinding my eyes from the daylight. “I know it is hard to wake up early and to go to school just a day after we moved here, but you still need to meet up with your teachers. So, move your ass, now!”
“What time is it?” I held my head to put a little pressure. This is annoying. I feel sick.
“It’s 7:20 already.”
You gotta be kidding me! My class starts at 8:00 am! and I still have to meet with my teachers. Setting my headache aside, I went to the bathroom to fix myself. I don’t have the time to take a shower now, good thing I did last night. After washing my face and brushing my teeth in my bathroom, I went out of my room naked. I search for whatever piece of clothing I could wear in the box where ‘clothes’ is messily written on one side. We didn’t have much time to unpack all our things. Moving to another city is quite usual for our family. Dad’s firm always transfers him to another location, moving from one city to another is something we got used to.
Found it!
I found my favorite denim jeans and pink long sleeves. This would do it. Now, where are my undies? I search for the other box near the one I was rummaging at and found a pair which my mom bought me. After putting everything on, I took my bag and brushed my hair as I went downstairs. My mom, dad, and my big brother were already eating their breakfast. I don’t have time for that.
“Thank you!” I took the sandwich in my brother’s hand as he was about to take a bite to it. “Hey!”
“Just make another, I’m in a hurry.” Without finishing my sandwich, I took a sip from my dad’s cup of coffee and kissed him on his forehead. “Thanks, Dad.”
“Mom! I’ll go ahead!” I heard her saying something from the kitchen but I really couldn’t understand what. For sure she was just saying I should take care of myself and stay away from boys. My god! I’m gonna be eighteen soon!
I took the bus that will take me to school. Dad prepared us for this move. He told us about everything already like a thousand times! We moved multiple times already, twice when I was in grade school, thrice when I was in high school and now we’re here. I have to adapt to our lifestyle. It's the least we could do for our parents who work hard for us.
As I step out of the bus, I looked at the framework of the school ground. It was just like what I saw on the pamphlet. Well, except for the students, they were looking at me oddly.
I looked at my wristwatch. I made it on time. As I walk inside the school premises I saw a different kinds of students. Some of which, I saw from the previous school I went to.
“Nice hair, Curly!” Yep. Those are the bullies. Physically looks good but mentally c***k. I ignored them.
“New student? I can help you. I’m running for student council president. Vote for me!” Her plastered, commercial look smile faced me. I took the paper she forced me to take. I shook my head. “Sure. No need to help me through… but thanks.” I know she won’t really help me. She’s made from plastic.
That felt like a long walk. I finally went inside the building which was packed with students. The teacher’s office is located on the next floor so I took the stairs nearby but as soon as I took a step I felt dizzy. My vision suddenly became blurry and everything went crazy.
I stretched out my hand in an attempt to hold on to the railings but I failed and fell. Luckily, some students were able to catch me.
“Are you okay?” They asked me. I nodded. Although I’m not really okay, I can’t miss meeting with the teachers.
“You sure?” I nodded again and thanked them as they walk away.
This morning is sure an odd one. I won’t get dizzy for anything. Maybe I ate too fast or maybe I didn’t get enough sleep. I’ll ask mom for medicine later.
After I met my teachers, I came to class with our adviser who introduced me to my classmates. “Hi! I’m Seira. Nice to meet you guys.” The room isn’t much different from the ones I went to in other cities. My classmates look pretty decent too. Guess, I won’t be facing too many problems this school year.
“Now, where should you be seated?” My adviser, who is a not-so-old man, maybe in his forties, scanned the room trying to figure out where I should be seated as if it was a big deal.
“She can sit here!” A tiny built, short-haired girl stood up and waves her hand getting our attention. Her big, round eyes show her bubbly personality. I smiled to show my appreciation for what she did.
“Hi! I’m Erica.” She offered her hand which I took before sitting down on the chair next to hers. “So, you have an older brother, right?” I nodded despite getting a weird impression from her question. “Good! Then, we can be friends. For sure he’s good-looking!” I didn’t really understand what she said and didn’t have time to ask her for our adviser to start our lesson.
