For four days, Ivanka did all she could to avoid Alaric. Her heart had never been the same after hearing of the engagement, and she knew it was going to hurt even more if she got to see him.
Whenever they had rounds and Alaric was the one in charge, she always came up with the perfect excuse to exempt herself. She couldn't bear the thought of being around him. She could literally have a breakdown.
However, on that day, Alaric specifically sent for her. As the nurse stood before her and passed the information, Ivanka was tempted to decline. But having second thoughts, she knew that would create suspicions as on a normal day, Alaric was a boss she shouldn't say No to.
