The manger led us to the hotel room. Blood stains were all over the white bedsheet. It was a terrifying view. We checked the room thoroughly, but we couldn’t find anything. When we finished, Tunde turned to look at the manager and said. “That will be all for now. We would be back if we need to ask more questions.” “We are ready to help in every possible way that we can. I really hope the culprit would be caught and brought to justice.” The manager said. “Alright, thank you.” I said and we both left the room. Just as we were about to leave the hotel, I quickly ran back to the reception and asked the receptionist, “did you notice anyone suspicious come into this hotel last night?” She placed her finger on her chin, as if she was trying to recall an event. After few seconds, she said. “There was an old man that came in with a very young lady to book a room. I’m sure that that man is old enough to be her father.” “So, what’s the suspicious thing there?” I asked. “The suspicious thing is that, the old man definitely has a wife and children. So, he is cheating!” She said. “Is this young lady underaged?” I asked. “She should be in her late 20’s.” She said. “When I asked you if you saw any suspicious person last night, I didn’t mean tell me about people’s personal life. I meant did you see anyone that might have looked like the killer last night?” I tried to break my question down because she definitely had problems with comprehension. “No.” she said. “Thank you.” I said and walked out of the hotel. Tunde was already standing outside, waiting for me to finish with the receptionist. “Were you able to get anything from her?” Tunde asked. “No.” I said. I didn’t bother to give him further details about what transpired between me and the receptionist, because he would have been so pissed. “This hotel doesn’t usually get customers? I don’t see people coming in here.” Tunde observed. I looked at him in awe, then asked “Tunde, if you were to book a hotel, would you book the one that a person was murdered in a day before?” He scratched his head then replied. “No.” “Now, there is your answer, dumb ass Detective.” I joked. “Well, I wouldn’t be a detective if I was dumb.” He said and we both laughed. Just as we were about to enter Tunde’s car, he got a call from the doctor. The call lasted for about one minute. “What did he say?” I asked after he had ended the call. “He forgot to add something when we went. He said there were bruises on her butt, seems like she was lashed with a belt.” He explained. “Just her butt? Nowhere else?” I asked. “Nowhere else.” He responded. I tried connecting the dots for some seconds, then concluded. “The killer is someone she knows.” Tunde nodded his head and added “You are right. Judging by the fact that the bruises were just on her butt. That means she didn’t struggle while he was lashing her. she stood still, she enjoyed it! Which brings us to the conclusion that they had….” “b**m” we said in unison. “Hop in.” Tunde said, quickly. “So, where are we going now?” I asked. “To the victims house.” Tunde responded. We entered his car and he drove us to the victim’s house. When we got there, the house was filled with people paying their condolences. We asked the mother if she could give us a chance to speak with her privately and she graced our request. She took us to a room inside the house where no one was. “First of all, my condolences Mrs. Martins. We are deeply sorry for your loss.” I sympathized with her. “Thank you.” She said. Her voice was shaky. She must have cried and shouted a lot. Her voice and emotions held a lot of pain. it was evident that she was in so much agony. “So, Mrs. martins. Who do you think could’ve done this to your daughter? Did she have a fight with someone before her demise?” Tunde questioned. “She was an easy-going person. She was always at peace with everyone. Even if someone wronged her, she would still be the one to apologize. My daughter didn’t deserve this.” She said and broke down in tears. We waited for her to calm down before I continued. “Is she in a romantic relationship with anyone?” I asked. “Not that I know of. She never shared details of her personal life with me. But Cindy might know.” She said. “Who is Cindy?” Tunde asked. “Cindy is her best friend from the office. She is the only friend I know her with.” She said. “Do you have Cindy’s contact?” I asked. “she’s here. Let me call her for you.” She said. “Thank you.” Tunde and I, said in unison. Mrs. martins left the room and came back with a petite girl, shortly after. Mrs. martins introduced her to us. “This is Cindy.” She said. Tunde nodded his head and said “thank you Mrs. martins.” He turned to look at Cindy and asked “Miss Cindy, please can we have a word or two with you, regarding Anna’s demise. if you don’t mind?” “Sure, I’d be glad to help in every way that I can.” Cindy assured us. “So, Cindy. Was Anna involved in a romantic relationship with anyone before her demise?” Tunde asked. “There’s this crazy guy she met at the gym. The guy is crazy because he asked her to be his girlfriend the same day they met and she agreed. I don’t know what she was thinking. He even sent her flowers, chocolates and a card.” She ranted. She seemed pained. “Do you know what this mysterious guy looks like? Did she show you any photos?” I asked, hoping we could get something from her. “I don’t know what he looks like, she only told me he was hot and handsome. I even forgot to ask what his name was.” She paused, then arched her brows and continued. “Wait! Is he the killer?”
